It is NO different from a self check out at the grocery store. Passengers will cheat the AI and dash through screens like smash n grab theft at a Walgreens.

Believe me it is not that simple and these products go through extensive ? rigorous testing :)

Retail self checkout increased losses. Risks of loss are more serious with travel.

At retail, it’s people just grabbing stuff and leaving the store.

Except this solution has nothing to do with retail self checkout. In fact, there is no ''checkout'' involved. This only simplifies the divesting process and allows for a faster process requiring less personnel.

@@Vandercox the point is, people inclined to cheat the system will cheat the system. This is especially true for those whom the TSA is supposed to stop. Example’s shown are risky.

The officers are still watching you. And there are cameras too. Also, I think this technology is only allowed to be used with passengers who have TSA precheck. I always knew I was going to find comments like these under this video.

I don't think you guys understand what their version of self checkout is. It doesn't mean less secure, it just means less hands on with probably even more people watching.

I knew these comments were coming. There still is a TSA officer watching you but only will intervene if they see you breaking protocol. Oh and there are cameras too. And a button you can push to call a TSO if there are issues and/or you observe someone breaking protocol.

If the virtual agent tech can solve the problem of unevenly distributed TSA agents across times/places, I’m all for it. Definitely have been at busy gates that were badly understaffed and the TSA folks were overwhelmed, AND near-empty gates where the TSA agents looked bored.
