Is it okay if I wear a hoodie jacket (like a half zip sweatshirt) through tsa security, or do we have to take that off to go in the X-ray? Also, I will be bringing some loose change in my carry on suitcase- since that might make the alarm go off, should I keep that in my checked bag instead?

    Hi Ben! Thank you so much for this video. I have to go to California in early May for a family thing and I am 74 1/2 years old. No wiggle room on that shoe thing? I'm sure there isn't any wiggle room - the shoe thing is what I hate the most. I'm not thrilled about the RFID deal with my wallet, either. Hopefully, someone will check it manually in my sight. I am the most nervous about that part of this whole thing. Thank you for any feedback you may have for me! 😊 Kathleen

    • @BenDreamVacations
      @BenDreamVacations  Год назад +1

      Hi Kathleen. Unfortunately there is not too much wiggle room for having to take off shoes. There are some airports that have more advanced screening technology where you are not required to take off your shoes but for the most part there is no way around it. The good news is that once you turn 75 you can take advantage of special screening where you will not have to take off your shoes or jacket. So you have that to look forward to. You can request to have your RFID wallet checked manually if you rather not keep it in your bag.

      Sandals do need to be taken off when going through security. For cough drops, as long as they are solid you can just keep those in your bag. If we are wearing HEARING AIDS, DO WE NEED TO TAKE IT OFF?

      Ha ha, No, you do not need to take off your hearing aids when going through security.

    What I dislike about these videos is that there never is a simple disclaimer: NOTHING STAYS THE SAME, THE RULES CHANGE, DEAL WITH IT.
    You want to really get through security fast? Take off the jewelry, watches, earbuds, headphones, your house keys, and loose change and just put it all in your bag. The only electronics they want out are laptops (sometimes tablets, just ask). Get off your phone and pay attention. Wear shoes that come off and on easy. Just take the belt off. No jackets or hats. Put it all in a bin and move along. You can take out all your distractions when you get through and get out of my way. Seriously, the only time I’ve not been at the point of my bin coming out of the scanner is because some idiot did not do these simple things and I had to wait for them to stop holding up the entire airport with their stupidity. Yeah, it sounds harsh, but if you are flying you should already have read the rules and been watching everyone else ahead of you. It’s not hard to get through this quickly. I’ve done it dozens of times without ever having an issue.
