  • Quick video demonstrating putting new string in the Atlas 80V string trimmer from Harbor Freight. We use .080 line and it will accept .095 line as well. We use about 6 foot of string and that has worked well for us. We have been using this trimmer over two years now year and we absolutely love it. It is still going strong. Thanks for watching have a great day and be safe!

    Thanks for the video. It wasn't clear how to reload the string, but with your help, it was no problem. By the way. This works with the 40v Atlas trimmer as well. It's the same head.

      I have the 40V. Today was the first time I tried to replace the line. What a PITA! I guess the line has to be fairly straight, to go in, like in this video. Anyway, I’ll try again this weekend.

    This was a lot of help but when winding the line on counter clockwise it is a bitch. Mine you have to push in while winding which doesn't give you much hold.

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  Год назад

      Thank you for watching and your comment. We have had the issue as well. Sometimes it is not difficult to wind and then the next time it can be very difficult. We found you can use oil filter pliers to hold the pieces when winding if you are careful to not tear up the plastic with the pliers. Have a great day and be safe!

      @@jerryfay7517 thanks for watching and your comment. I quickly looked on amazon and some web places and didn’t see any obvious options. Hope you find something that works and then please let us know what you found. Agree that the line spool is the weak link on this trimmer. Have a great day and be safe!

    can you add a different Head on the Atlas trimmer? Say a Dalom T25 Tap String Trimmer Head or a Speed Feed?

    Mine is really hard to turn once I get my line threaded through. I’ve cleaned it and I have used it only one season. Any suggestions?

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  Год назад +2

      Make sure you use .080” line. It will work with .095” line but will be hard to turn. The other thing to try is to totally disassemble the head and clean all the gunk out then see if it’s easier. Finally, you could use a strap wrench or oil filter pliers to hold the head while winding the spool with another one. Also wearing gloves helps with grip if that is an issue. Good luck, thanks for the question and have a great day!

    • @goosesgamblers

      I used my mechanic/grippy gloves and that helped, not easy, but good to go.

    Hi there sir, my question is can I use .095 line on Atlas string trimmer 40V Lithium 15 inches instead of .080 line, awesome video.

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching and your question. I think it would fit but I don’t think I would. The bigger line takes more power to turn so it will slow down your trimmer. These battery trimmers don’t have as much power as the gas ones seem to have where you could get away with running a larger line. If you do try it out let us know how it works. Have a great day and be safe!
