You have no idea how helpfull this was to me. I finally learned how to track the location of my character ingame and that makes a whole world of difference in my project. I cant thank you enough for wat you have learned me in these few minutes.
thanks to this tutorial, I can use my comment event button (which is a shoulder charge) and have it push the rock. but when you just move into the rock, it'll only move it once. the charge moves it a lot further, but isn't as precise. really happy with how it turned out and it's all thanks to this tutorial.
I found that by making your video speed 0.75 I could finally understand what you were doing LOL. Anyways, amazing tutorial and to the point. I've already mastered this concept thanks to you, this engine has always been easy to manipulate but I struggled with the mapping until this video, and that pieces WAY TOO MANY things for me to make an amazing new game... HORSE WARRIOR! A warrior, but he's a horse, and nobody can understand him, and he fights the forces of evil. Now I have the means to make cool puzzles in my dungeons! Thank you~ (even 7 years later!)

I've played the demo for Gaias Melody Echoed Melodies, and it's about an hour long. It's very plot heavy, and not in goofy meta plot, but regular plot. It's really good though. I think the fourth wall breaking is just something she does for fun in the videos.

The biggest puzzle I've always had regarding RPG puzzles is how skinny village boys and tiny little girls are capable of pushing boulders to begin with. :D
Could somebody teach me how to pick up and throw events; and to slide events? Why can't you just move events around they way you would with the player?

:3I never had an issue with it still playing the sound effect lol, that never bothered me. Like 'you're trying to push it, it's just not going anywhere'. I can't think off the top of my head an easy way to do that that wouldn't be a total pain in the butt to event:/
Hmm, what about pushing the boulder into a hole that you can't walk though yourself? My first assumption would be to toggle the though characteristic on and then off on the hole each time you push the boulder, but if that didn't work I would think to make a check and disappear the boulder when "pushed" from the proper direction and spot before the hole.

I used to create RPG games in RM2K over 20 years ago. I'm jumping back in, hoping people will buy my games since they aren't buying my comics. I'm shocked at what I could do 20 years ago that I can't for the life of me remember how to do now in more updated versions of RPG Maker. I'm trying to get a boulder to roll on top of a water spout, plugging the water spout and creating a path for the player to move forward. It should be exactly how this is programmed in your video, but I just can't get it to work.
I've done everything you said (Im using the multiple push boulder on a button) & When I try to push it on the button, it acts as if its a wall, the switch is set below character, I can walk over it, but the boulder cant. Help please!

You can set a variable to an event's location?! I'd been trying to figure out how to do that so I could handle movement route events that could have the event/player in more than one possible starting location! That should help A LOT!

+Hokeypokeyy As MV no longer uses RTP, you should just be able to send them the game - I can't test this, but they should be able to play it via index.html. Or deploying it would probably work, too.
i figured out how to make THE MOST SIMPLE PUZZLE! Have a switch that activates a self switch and increases a variable. Then when you unswitch it it decreases the variable. For switches you do not want to be pressed make it so it decreases the variable when pressed and increases when unpressed. Now make a event that checks for a number. And bam! A puzzle
I have no idea why, but the rock puzzle doesn't work for me. I can't push the rock on the switch, so I set the switch to "through." now I can push it on the switch, but nothing happens. can anyone help?
if i remember correctly you don't need to set the "button event" to "through" or even give it any commands but you need to make another event somewhere else on the map and make it where it says "Action Button" instead say "parallel" then set two variables to be "X=X position of event on map" and "Y=Y position on map" then use a conditional branch to check if they are the Coordinates you want.

It's do-able with events, but I'm not sure how do-able. There will definitely be a full-scale plugin in the future though, of that I'm certain. Good luck scripting one:3 If I find an interesting way to event it, I'll post about it^_^
Yeah, but those plug-ins may take years to be created ^^. I don't wanna wait years. Actually, what would be cool is finding a way to automatically give some local variable to each monster of the database, and then process it. I've done it many times using Construct or MMF2. But on RM, it's quite problematic, since there are no local variables...
You make me Crazy! You have make a mistake...on the second Page of the rock event, you have delete everything...this Is wrong, cause the rock moves only One time in this way...on the second Page you Need to put the Movement again...
Yeah uhh, few problems here. The rocks wouldn't move and when I used ones from the in-game tutorial, they wouldn't go over the button. Please help, not sure if I messed up here or if an update screwed up everything or whatever
I'm glad MV is so similar to VX Ace (when it comes to events)! So any tutorials for eventing without plugins can be used in VX Ace!

I wanted to create bolders which can only be pushed if a certain character is the leader.
There a way to make it so if the bolder touches a wall it doesnt machinegun the sound effect when you walk into it?

It's designed specifically for traditional rpg-styled games, but through scripting, it isn't limited to just that.

I was in for it all...til you got to plugins. I use the PS4 version...no plugins or anything.

It's do-able with events, but I'm not sure how do-able. There will definitely be a full-scale plugin in the future though, of that I'm certain.

Actually, what would be cool is finding a way to automatically give some local variable to each monster of the database, and then process it.
I've done it many times using Construct or MMF2. But on RM, it's quite problematic, since there are no local variables...

You make me Crazy! You have make a mistake...on the second Page of the rock event, you have delete everything...this Is wrong, cause the rock moves only One time in this way...on the second Page you Need to put the Movement again...
Yeah uhh, few problems here. The rocks wouldn't move and when I used ones from the in-game tutorial, they wouldn't go over the button. Please help, not sure if I messed up here or if an update screwed up everything or whatever
