I weighed 183.8 , 5’1” on July 17, 2023. I said enough is enough. It is now May 13 and I weigh 125.6 I walk 4 miles a day with my dog. I do upper body weights and I use my fitness pal and changed the way I eat , no crash diet. Lots of water. my goal is 118. I am 73. It is a lifestyle change. It is not a diet. My weight started creeping up when I hit pre menopause at 47, then I started gaining when my husband got sick and eventually passed away in 2014 hysterectomy in 2022.
Amy you handled the questions perfectly. I am a mother of three and a long time professional trainer and fitness instructor. A lot of people tell me I am “lucky” to not have a weight problem and I respond that I try to be very conscious of my food and activities. There is no magic but a change in lifestyle that produces results, as you know😉. I am glad you are using this platform to help others. You should be proud of yourself!
One pro for intermittent fasting is that like if you are pre diabetic (like I was), it “spends” the “built up sugars” in your liver basically. In three months, my A1C dropped from 5.8 to 5.3. So that’s a consideration for some. Not everyone. Folks with certain (not all) Pre diabetes risk factors really kinda need that break from food to let their bodies “catch up”. UNLESS your diet is like perfectly balanced. Like you said. Calories need tracked. Just frees us up some brain space soo we’re not obsessing
You are SO right when it comes to cheat meals or drinking. “I’ll start my diet on Monday.” - To diet just enough for vacation and then health doesn’t matter anymore. It’s such a toxic mindset.
I can’t tell you how much this video has helped me! I started a weight loss journey about three weeks ago and haven’t seen much of a change and was starting to get a little discouraged. I know it takes time, but I’m a type of girl that wants to see results yesterday! This video brought me back down to reality. Thank you so much.
I was 169 lbs. i am now 145 lbs. my weight fluctuates a few pounds. From 145 it was 150 last night 😂 🤷♀️ Thats ok this morning it went down to 147. I weigh myself daily. It helps me stay on track. It does not control me or upset me. I have to watch this video again so everything stays in my brain. 😂
you look amazing, thank you for all the info, you're keeping me motivated, I have about 100 lbs to lose, I think eating was my "comfort" with the loss of my mom about 5 yrs ago and then the loss of my husband a year ago. I've been exercising and eating healthier, started about 1.5 wks ago and i'm down 2 lbs, that keeps me motivated also
Amy, you are amazing! You went through long but rewarding journey of loosing weight and you educated yourself big time. Now you are sharing your knowledge with us in honest, respectful way, and also without judgmental tone in your voice. Thank you. ❤
Thank you for such an honest and educational video! I’m now 51 and am at my heaviest after being fit and in shape most of my life. As you said, life happens. You’re very inspiring and have re-energized me to focus on getting healthy again! Thank you thank you!!
Intermittent fasting. I will say is good for any kind of auto immune disease because it’s downtime for your gut and that’s when it heals so good for your skin and your gut.!
I am sixty and want to get started but just haven’t found the courage yet . Mostly because I have lost thirty pounds numerous times in my life and gained it back because I fell off the plan. When you said focus on losing one pound it gave me hope ❤
Weird compliment but you are my therapist's doppelganger from the way you look, the sound of your voice, mannerisms, everything... so you are very comforting for me to watch 😅
You truly are an inspiration. I had actually never tied weight gain to death. I was very small and active when I was young. When I married at age 18 I was 100# now 40 years later I’m at 273#. I’ve had lots of loss (Father, Brother and Mother) I’ve also had brain surgery 1 year after marriage and experienced breast cancer, double mastectomy and 2sets off implants. I’m a survivor and for that I’m grateful. I truly do want to lose weight and I need to figure out what the best route is. I take high powered medicine for seizures that I’ve fought ever since I turned 19 years old. I keep watching you and praying I can get back in a routine. You are my inspiration! Thank you ❤
Amy, I also gained weight during some difficult life seasons and it's great to have you remind us that we can turn this around when the time is right!!
I never had a problem with my weight until I was diagnosed with Crohn's. My weight goes up and down. It will continue to. Thank you for sharing your health journey with us.
So happy to hear you are running marathons. Our daughter has a goal of running a marathon in each state. She just completed #15 in Louisville, KY and we were able to cheer her on. It was a beautiful race and everyone was very friendly.
Hi! Just wanted to say I love the advice you share, specifically about having the carbs in the morning and earlier in the day. Gonna try that! Also, I appreciate that you didn’t shame those of us who are on medication. I had 10 kids and managed to get to pregnancy weight for all but the last few. Then it was just like a run away train and I gained a bunch of weight. Documenting my journey to help keep me accountable, which is helping a ton! I love your channel, how you share your faith and your calm, laid back personality. So happy I found you on instagram, can’t wait for part two!
I love watching your videos about weight loss but can you please do a video about your skin and how glowing it is? Are you naturally tan or do you do something to get that? Also even the whites of your eyes just look brighter. Have talked about other benefits you have seen since eating better and exercising?
You look amazing, so happy for you I needed to lose 20 lbs, and joined WW ate healthy no processed foods, complex carbs limited etc,I reached goal and so happy because I am 70 and it came off so easy… I love your advise for anyone wanting to improve their health
Wow, I can relate so much to you. I lost both of my parents in less than two years and have 3 kiddos. I also had some health stuff that really put me down. I’m ready to change & praying for the strength to do it. 🙏🏻
Thank you Amy for sharing!! I have hit my all time high weight within the last 3 months. I am focusing on a better healthy happy life. I am trying to get in between 8 to 10 thousand steps in a day. Hoping to see results soon.
Amazing !! I’m a nurse 2 children 55 yo and on Optavia and lifting weights 3x a week and walk my Great Dane . I’m done 11.2lbs In 4 weeks ! Love your story
Thank you for sharing your health journey story. I, too, gained an insane amount of weight during COVID and am just starting to try to get back on track for what feels like the billionth time. Praying it goes well this time and your video truly is helping to motivate me! Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing!
Thank you for your encouragement. I started trying to loose weight a month ago after being diagnosed with three autoimmune diseases, IIH, and other health problems 3 years ago. It’s been so hard and discouraging because of the chronic pain and fatigue. Your videos encourage me and inspire me with recipes and to keep going.
hey girl- This was oh so good!😁 Thank you for sharing your health journey with us🥰 Keep up the good work👍 Y'all have a wonderful weekend- Happy Mother's Day😘
I love how you said you knew you were capable!! I am 100 lbs overweight with my 4th pregnancy. You inspire me because you literally look as much better as I do when I lose weight. I gotta do it, and watching you I know I can! Thank you!! ❤️
I'm rewatching some of your older videos to get motivation. I am at a very similar spot as you were. I just want health, but am at 230 pounds on my 5'5 frame after a very hard couple years with my Dad battling cancer and going to heaven rhis fall. I just want ro be healthy for my kids and know that tomorrow isnt promised. So I want to honor God by being the healthiest, best version of myself. Who he made me to be. It feels so daunting though. I have lost 70 pounds in the past after my babies and kept it off for about 5 years, but once my kiddos were in school I got a sedentary job and made poor nutritional choices. Add in a ridiculous amount of stress over a few years and here I am. I pray God helps me because I hate to feel this way. Thanks for your encouraging words and sharing your journey. Hopefully in a year I can be celebrating too!
Well sweet Amy, this was probably the most sensible 24 minutes on RUclips, thank you. Im a 65 year old and you inspire me to walk and be more active . Looking forward to part 2. I am still enjoying your sweet potato nachos and the greek bowl inspiration. Thanks for sharing with us.
Amy, with all the talk of what to do and not to do about weight loss,it’s no wonder why so many people get discouraged. Bottom line these fitness celebrity types, do it all for the profits, whether it works or not. But, you are a beacon have light, bringing it back to the basics “inputs and outputs. Still enjoying good healthy foods (and sometimes treats) in moderation. It’s sustainable and smart.. I’ve lost 41lbs since January watching what I consume and the portions. Yes I track my calories and it does make it easier for me. I recently joined the YMCA and have Incorporated strength training. I can’t begin to tell you how great I feel inside and out. I’m in my 50’s and I still have aches and pains, but not having to carry that extra weight around is life changing. The hardest part is starting with day one and being consistent. I still have my youngest at home and I’m a busy mom,but I’ve realized the importance it is to put myself #1, before everything else. I need to be strong for myself and my family. I finally Love myself and I look forward to a healthy future. Thank you for the inspiration Amy!!
I do Intermittent fasting because I am 65, I lost my thyroid 15 years ago, I have been hypoglycemic since childhood, and my thyroid meds interfere with my ability to build muscle. My metabolism is too slow for three meals a day, and there is nothing I can do about it. But, I don't miss eating more food, and I don't enjoy junk food. We garden like you do. Everyone is different. I know my children do not need to be as strict as I am. When I was younger, I could lose with simply restricting calories. It just doesn't work anymore.
@debiwillis9045 , that is Intermittent fasting. Our family has Hashimotos and diabetes. I have managed to not become diabetic because I have always restricted my sugar. I have great doctors. Autoimmune diseases cannot be cured. Only managed. I do the best I can. That's all I can do.
You’re one of the main motivations for me that has helped me start my weight loss journey❤ I’m sure you’ve probably said this in one of your videos but could you please tell me what self tanner you use? You always look so beautiful!
Wow girl! U nailed it! So proud of you, it’s hard to believe I could have the same thing, idk 🤷🏼♀️ but a lot of what you said helped me today thank you! Im working on it!
Hi Amy your transformation was one of the most amazing transformation I seen. You look like a new person. I miss your Q&A post. I am your before transformation. If you can help me and others on doing a video how to start, what is important things to focus on, and what you ate in beginning when you were losing the weight versus what you are doing now to maintain the weight. I know you touch some points on this video but if you can do something more detailed that would be great. Thank you
@@AmyFritz our son got engaged last Saturday, May 11th. I am looking forward to your next video to lose weight before I go shopping for my mother of the groom dress. Also any instructions for beginners weight training.
Thank you so much for putting me back on track to fasting and eating better. This video did it for me it's so encouraging and informative. I love it❤🎉 tfs
Your advise is the absolute best! I listen to your weight loss advise often to help keep me on the right track, because I have a habbit of feeding myself bad advice and telling myself I have to do extream things - but your story and advise bring me back to a healthier midset. Love these videos! ❤
Thank you so much. This was absolutely amazing. I have watched literally hundreds of health journey videos, and you explained it the best. Detail, real every day Mom life situations, kindergarten style. Love it, love it love it helped me so much. I have been watching you for a while but never comment lol you are so beautiful inside and out. ❤
You look so happy and healthy!! Your last comment, about people jumping from occasion to occasion and never really getting started has been a huge challenge for me lately. But, I know you are right, it's definitely possible to find creative and healthy solutions. Very motivating!!
I love when you do these videos I love all of the what you eat in a day and when you share your recipes with us, I’ve been on a weight loss journey since last July and I am older than you are I’m 60 but I’ve been through ovarian cancer and have had several surgeries and I take hormone blockers which really made it tough for me to lose weight, but I am down 51 pounds Since last July and I’m very happy about it!! I really do want to lose 20 or 25 more pounds and I’ve been at a standstill for a while so after listening to you today, I am thinking I need to check out or exercise and reevaluate !! my question to you is do you think that sometimes we aren’t losing due to not eating enough food and how do you know when that happens because sometimes I feel like I may not be eating enough and my body is hanging onto what’s there ??? You have helped me with your encouragement your recipes and your Q&A videos🌸. You look so amazing and you deserve it because you worked hard for it and I’m so glad you are sharing it with all of us.🤗💐
Hi Amy new to your channel. Thanks for sharing your story. I’m also going thru my weight loss journey. It has been a struggle my start weight was 211 (5’1 shorty over here😂) current wait is 180. R slowly but surely I will get to my goal. Have a lovely day!
Thank you Amy. This email helped so much. I think we get stuck on finding perfect diet to follow and never really start. Glad you explained deficient only really matters. Keep making these Q & A’s
New to your RUclips and Instagram space and I’m so pumped to glean some helpful tips from you that you’ve picked up on your journey! I loved all that you shared and looking forward to seeing the next video!
Amy you look absolutely amazing!! Thank you for sharing your health journey. You are helping so many people be successful in their choices to lose weight and be healthy ❤️
You're doing amazing! I enjoyed this. I've lost around 100lbs but now I'm currently expecting our first to arrive this month 🥰 I'm looking forward to shedding some pounds again soon.
Amy, do you use sunless tanner? If so, would you mind sharing what kind? You are probably just tan from all of your outdoor running! 😂 But I wanted to ask in case it was something sunless I could try 😊
I lost 21 pounds just recently....I stayed away from bread and sugar and watched my sodium....I have 2 meals a day in which I rotate around so my body does it get used to it.... took about 3 weeks before I started noticing the scale changing but then when it did I dropped pretty fast...Im post menopausal too so I thought this will never happen but I stuck with it and it did.... plain popcorn with my best friend....lol
Congratulations Amy! You are an inspiration to so many people who share your story. Keep up the great work you are doing. BTW you look wonderful! God's blessings 💞💞
Hi Amy. Thank you for being so candid and sharing your advice on this difficult subject. I find that intermittent fasting has really helped me lose weight and feel healthier. I would also add that if you are exercising then consider the extra weight of any muscle mass you are developing. Trying on clothes for me has been a better indicator as you lose the inches and people notice that. Good luck with your marathon training! Soon be Wimbledon and I can’t wait! Will be having the strawberries without the cream on the day or maybe I’ll treat myself if it’s been a while 🎾🍓
I totally blame my hypo even tho my levels are balanced. Could be a crutch just seems very hard to loose fat and I’ve been on my workout journey for over 6 years. I track time to time. It’s frustrating for sure, I do try to take your approach and keep meals Simple. I love to cook so it’s hard for me to remind myself of that!!
Love this Amy! Could you clarify what you said about letting MFP adjust your calories? Do you mean you turned on the function to let it adjust calories based on exercise each day? I’ve heard advice not to do that if you’re trying to lose weight. Would love your insight!
Loved this video you gave me a lot of ideas and ways to loose weight im going to keep trying and not give up on myself so quickly thank you amy your a great inspiration and a great example thank you ❤❤❤❤
Amy you look terrific!! ❤ I have lost 100 lbs over the course of a year and a half. I turn 60 next month and I have never felt better!!!

Congratulations🙌🏼
For me personally, your info on weight loss, is the best I’ve ever heard, because it is sensible, healthy ,feasible and the truth. Thank you Amy! 🌻
Thank you❤️
Amy you handled the questions perfectly.
Thanks!!!😊
One pro for intermittent fasting is that like if you are pre diabetic (like I was), it “spends” the “built up sugars” in your liver basically. In three months, my A1C dropped from 5.8 to 5.3. So that’s a consideration for some. Not everyone. Folks with certain (not all) Pre diabetes risk factors really kinda need that break from food to let their bodies “catch up”.

Amy, do you use sunless tanner? If so, would you mind sharing what kind? You are probably just tan from all of your outdoor running! 😂 But I wanted to ask in case it was something sunless I could try 😊
I do! I linked my favorite in the video description😊

Aw, thank you❤️
I lost 21 pounds just recently....I stayed away from bread and sugar and watched my sodium....I have 2 meals a day in which I rotate around so my body does it get used to it.... took about 3 weeks before I started noticing the scale changing but then when it did I dropped pretty fast...Im post menopausal too so I thought this will never happen but I stuck with it and it did.... plain popcorn with my best friend....lol
Amazing! Way to stay consistent and stick with it!
Congratulations Amy! You are an inspiration to so many people who share your story. Keep up the great work you are doing. BTW you look wonderful! God's blessings 💞💞

Thank you for sharing Amy. You are in such a good place and it truly is inspiring :)
Thank you so much!
Will be having the strawberries without the cream on the day or maybe I’ll treat myself if it’s been a while 🎾🍓
Thank you!!!
I totally blame my hypo even tho my levels are balanced. Could be a crutch just seems very hard to loose fat and I’ve been on my workout journey for over 6 years. I track time to time. It’s frustrating for sure, I do try to take your approach and keep meals
Simple. I love to cook so it’s hard for me to remind myself of that!!
🙏🏼❤️
I loved this video! Great info 😊
Thank you😊
Wonderful video! Looking fwd to Part ✌🏼
Thanks!
Great video Amy.
Thanks!
Love this Amy! Could you clarify what you said about letting MFP adjust your calories? Do you mean you turned on the function to let it adjust calories based on exercise each day? I’ve heard advice not to do that if you’re trying to lose weight. Would love your insight!
Hi! When you download the app, you can set your goals and MFP will set your calorie limit😊
Thank you so much for the great info and encouragement. I’m gonna do it!!
Thank you❤️
