    Game description (via Wikipedia)
Metroid Prime is an action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the GameCube. Metroid Prime is the fifth main Metroid game and the first to use 3D computer graphics and a first-person perspective. It was released in North America in November 2002, and in Japan and Europe the following year. Along with the Game Boy Advance game Metroid Fusion, released a day before, Prime marked the return of the Metroid series after an eight-year hiatus following Super Metroid (1994).

Starting this year I started to have a major craving to replay Metroid Prime. Like you, I never played it again after I beat it. I called a friend to chat Metroid Prime with him and literally the next day the remaster was announced. I played it and loved it as much as I did the first time. Such nostalgia. Honestly, even though it's not a new game, it's my game of the year so far. My only real gripe with it is the enemy respawns when backtracking can be annoying. Especially the areas where you need to use different types of vision to see and where the doors lock on you. Other than that, borderline perfect game. Amazing underrated soundtrack. When I went to the Phendrana Drifts for the first time in 20 years it was a nostalgia overload.

This is a game that I dived into when I was like eleven or twelve. I'm going to be thirty this year now, and the game will always hold a special place in my heart.
As a kid, this was the first and only FPS perspective in a game I had experienced at the time and I was super confused by it. It made it really hard for me to get through the first boss, but I kept trying and learning. I played this game non-stop on GameCube and eventually finished it. I immediately started it up again. I memorized where all the items are and how to progress. I eventually beat it for the sixth time and got a high enough completion percentage to get the special ending where Samus takes off her helmet. At this revelation, I remember verbally yelling out loud, "I'm a girl!? That's awesome!" and that is what cemented the game in my heart and I continued to play it over and over again. I never knew I was playing as a woman named Samus the first six runs through the game. I thought I was just some nameless space guy, but finding out the way I did made me cherish the series even more. To this day, I really resonate with heroines in gaming and I love seeing them overcome incredible odds while being badass at the same time.
At this point, I've played the game an innumerable amount of times, to the point where I always do 100% speedruns in under five hours on average. The game is a masterpiece of level design, pacing, fluidity, stellar narrative choices, music, and atmosphere. I bought both a physical and digital version of the remaster and I can only hope Nintendo releases a remaster of the other two games so I can replay and 100% speedrun them as well.
Metroid Prime as a series is so dear to my heart and I will cherish it forever.

Oh man. Where do I start with this one? Well for starters, I’ve played the full trilogy (first 2 on GameCube, borrowed the 3rd from a friend, and then got the trilogy for the Wii.) and I loved the hell out of this game. I know a lot of people say Super Metroid is the best Metroid but I’d argue this one can easily share the number 1 spot with Super. Something about this release I loved is (not just the fact Nintendo stealth launched it) but the fact that many other rereleases or remasters (Looking at you Skyward Sword HD) try to redo the control for modern day but fall flat.
My only qualms with this are a few things others have pointed out, the blast doors glow too brightly and lose their texture, the charge beam (used to) be used as a flashlight (not in remastered), and there are these little mirrors located throughout Chozo ruins that when you passed by you could see Samus’s reflection. I know it sounds like a nitpick but these were little details in the original game that show how much love and care was put into this, and even now, this remake is GORGEOUS. Playing on an HDTV there are moments where colors and textures really pop. It’s also why I’m hoping that Nintendo will remaster both Prime 2 & 3. Honestly while Prime 3 is my least favorite of the group, Prime 2 is the one that ABSOLUTELY deserves a remaster just for its color pallet. (If you’ve played you know what I’m talking about.) it’s also the one I’d like to revisit considering I never beat the final boss. Xbox had Halo, Nintendo had Metroid Prime. Thanks for the video on this man, I don’t know how many Metroids you’ve played but I hope you play them all and enjoy them.

The “floatiness” of the controls was an initial pain point back in the gamecube days, but playing the remaster now is kind of amazing in that it feels both floaty and modern in a Good Way. Kind of amazing that they nailed that balance. I also love the hud. Like loooove it. Manages to feel kind of claustrophobic, while still not being in they way.
Absolute masterclass of interface design. Not exactly modern, kinda weird lookin, but god damn if it doesn’t just feel right. Chefs kiss. PIZZA FOREVER…!

To my knowledge, there really isn't a game that is as immersing (done right) as the Metroid Prime series; I may have to call it the best we've ever had. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Can you imagine if they made a full-adventure VR game from this?? I PROMISE you, it would make the VR sale.

Hey, Jake Baldino : I AM GLAD YOU ASKED haha. SO. Samus, always been pretty much family ( like, literally, family name is Arafan, Aran is an F apart :p ).. and boy could I prose for hours about the whole darn thing.. not the least of which : kinda pretty much the very reason at age 42 I am still pursuing gamedev to the best of abilities is meeting Samus on NES.. to get one back then in Morocco was a whole story in itself, cousins in France had one, aunt recommended, got one, but TV set outdated and had to wait for fams to be able to get new one with AV plug haha TMNT and Mario were the firsts, and could not get far with that Metroid thing as I had no manual, and a small mining town with no buddies into games just yet.. ENTERS : 1/ figuring out morph ball can also drop BOMBS ! 2/ Bless my pops watching me play one afternoon and pointing out the 0 and O are two different characters I can tell apart by the zero being slashed, so I could finally use that darn long password at game over screen correctly to finally make some real progress.. the galaxy was not even the limit ever since ( super metroid and SNES high school years still best years to this old fart ), much love my dude, still haven't had at it again since gamecube as well ( wind waker years and this glorious trilogy 2006-07 were also highlight years..), and shall definitely enjoy some more ( tsushima currently, that backlog, lol, never had a ps4, merely catching up some there ) once I grab a physical copy as well.; LETS GO RETRO STUDIOS, PRIME 4 with switch 2 after dropping whole trilogy remaster ( fun fact : clever to say the least, to drive test new engine with OGs before what I am sure will be yet another masterpiece from them buncha geniuses in that Texas powerhouse )

My first experience with Metroid Prime, from what I can recall, was seeing it sitting at the title screen on a GameCube in a Radio Shack. I think just seeing the main menu and the high quality science-fiction aesthetic drew me in. Logically, it is actually possible that that same day, or a few weeks or months later, my parents picked up a rental copy from our local drug store that literally shares a strip mall with that Radio Shack. That's probably exactly how it went down. My 20 year anniversary with the game should have been somewhere around late March or April of this year. The immersion of Metroid Prime was off the charts. My first playthrough I turned off the music for the Parasite Queen because it was horrifying stuff.
Our TV brightness was low, so I actually got stuck trying to get access to Flaahgra while trying to find all the runic symbols. A friend of mine turned my TV brightness up (I didn't want to mess with my parents' TV settings) and he got me into the morph ball tunnel to access the boss. That wasn't until 2005. In a way, waiting a few years to get access to Flaahgra probably just supercharged and cemented Metroid Prime and its longevity in my childhood and life. I was honestly busy playing the original Call of Duty, Half-Life 2, Need For Speed: Underground 2, Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes anyway.
The two series I always went back to were the Half-Life and Metroid Prime series. I played both over the years, especially Half-Life 2 because of its huge, sprawling, perpetual modding community. Garry's Mod was my favorite.

I came at Metroid Prime having never played a Metroid game before but having been so in love with N64 games like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Mario 64 and just dying for another experience that fun, but not overly feeling anything on the GC yet. I had never really liked FPS games either, so I was pretty skeptical going in and it took me a while to warm to Metroid Prime, but once I did it won me over so hard that I still consider it one of my favourite games of all time and definitely my favourite Metroid game and Gamecube game. Played and adored both sequels (esp. 3) and this remaster was an instant buy for me and I played it all the way through again in the first week. The game is the definition of a classic and I'm so pleased with how the remaster turned out.

I recently finished Metroid Prime Remastered. I never played the original, by the way, so this was a first-time experience for me. Thought it was fantastic. But… you have to be into the mechanics of what a Metroidvania entails. This is essentially the same as that genre except it includes an extra 3rd dimension to the space you move in. If that kind of genre is your jam, then I 100% recommend it.

I'm going through Prime Remastered again, and I noticed yet another subtle, but absolutely amazing detail that I never noticed before. So, we're all familiar with the invisible platforms that require the X-ray visor to see, right? Well, there's a couple of those in Tallon Overworld, where it's constantly raining. I found, that even before getting the visor, you can tell where the platforms are by how the rain doesn't hit the ground! That's right! The rain will stop short as if it's hitting a solid object! Such an amazing little detail that other games wouldn't even bother with! In other games, for example, you might not even be able to access the platforms until you gain the necessary visor. But not in Prime baby! Not only are they there, but the environment interacts with them! God I love this game!

Without watching the video and getting influenced, I've played it 2 weeks ago since everyone online gave 9/10 and 10/10, which I personally could not believe that it still could be the case after like 20 years, especially for a 3D "shooter" game. I've never played the original, and I've only recently have become a Metroid fan after playing Metroid Dread and understanding why the Genre is called Metroidvania lol
I was shocked how the level/game design of Metroid Prime was pure perfection. It's like the perfect execution of a Metroidvania in 3D, which I didn't think was possible. To think that they had figured this out 20 year ago has blown my mind, because everything about its design felt still modern. That game could have been developed and released today and I would have totally believed it to be a modern new game. I was seriously impressed, and I would definitely give it a 9/10, too. 20 years ago, this game must have felt like a 11/10 or something, and I understand why this game is at 97 at metacritic, above TotK and Elden Ring. I totally agree with Metroids score, even though I'm a fan of both of these games.
