    I have a suggestion for AccuAir. One button auto leveling for the overland/rooftop tent community. It would be great to just pull into camp and not have to stack rocks under your tires to level out your rig. PS: I know it can be done manually but auto leveling would be a neat trick.

    I have had the system installed in my Gladiator Rubicon for several months now and am very happy with it. The initial expense was high but when I compared a name brand lift with the rock slider automatic steps my wife wanted, the difference was negligible. I use #1 setting in my daily driving because it is easier for me to get in and out, #2 for wheeling, and I did Hell’s Revenge in Moab last month and used #3 on some of the steps which kept me from hitting the belly or the tail. I loved having the extra clearance when I needed it but don’t have to live with it every day. Finally, I still use it as a truck on occasion and the other day I picked up a bunch of plywood and lumber and the bed leveled itself. I looking forward to seeing how it does whenI have it loaded up with camping gear this Summer.
    Now I wonder if Jeep will give me hassle on my warranty since I had it installed by an independent shop before the program was announced.

      Problem with this system is a jeep is solid axle, if you raise the truck the track bar and drag links need to be adjusted to get the body centerlines in the axle so with this system wheb you air up your cab is gonna be pulled to the driver's side prob 10-20 mm and at the lowest to the passenger side. Also the wheel won't be clocked properly

      None do! You gotta get aftermarket lights and ENSURE they use the Cree branded LED emitters which are high output and long lasting. Also remember to get upper roof mounted light bars with 100,000 lumens output. Make sure an in-cabin controlled lightbar cover is installed which will slide down n cover the lightbar completely when on-road since some states don't allow lightbars to be uncovered when doing highway or city driving. The entore package is called a hideaway lightvar!

    Not interested in Jeep unless they can give us a V8 option without charging an extra $30k. No way a basic 392 costs that much more than the POS 3.6L. At most maybe $10k more like some diesels cost in 1 ton trucks, which I can see as a justified increase in price, but a 392 is not as complex as a huge turbo diesel. Make it make sense lol.

    • @bendino9016
      @bendino9016 Месяц назад

      392 def costs way more. Look at any crate motor v8

    • @robertwood7208
      @robertwood7208 Месяц назад

      Exclusivity attracts higher end buyers. Jeep is trying to position themselves at the bottom and top of the market. Offering the 392 in an affordable package reduces the perceived value and exclusiveness of the 392. They want more Mercedes G wagon buyers.
      On the other hand, they also need to consider CAFE standards. Most people would pay a 10k premium for a Sahara or Rubicon with a v8 option. This would murder the average MPG on Wrangler sales similar to what happened with the Raptor and F150 sales.

  • @nix4644

    I don't do off-roading so I'm going to ask what might be a dumb question to some of you out there. I noticed that the front differential didn't move when he was raising and lowering the suspension. So my question is, how do you gain ground clearance by raising the chassis if one of the lowest points, i.e. the differential, doesn't raise as well? Thanks in advance for any response.

    • @idabrit
      @idabrit Месяц назад +3

      Depends what kind of off-roading. If you’re on a heavily rutted dirt road then you’re right, the pumpkin is the bottom line for clearance. But if you’re on a mountain road full of variously sized rocks (more often the case, particularly with Moab-type contexts) you pick a line so that obstacles pass under, not between, your wheels, and then having the clearance to come down off of a rock and not crunch your chassis is what matters.

    • @tfcooks
      @tfcooks Месяц назад +1

      It increases approach, departure and breakover angles.

    • @videowsatcher
      @videowsatcher Месяц назад

      As noted above angles. Also, wading depth. The diff clearance is the limitation of live axles. With independent suspension, this is not a problem. However, the reason live axles are preferred is greater wheel articulation and, most importantly, the durability of the driveline compared to independent suspension. By default, independent suspension cv joints and other connect components that carry power are under stress of not only power but significant physical movement. This is further exacerbated by lift. The angles created by a lift create heightened tension of the cvs and they have a further increased tendency to break in harder off roading, particularly if you are moving beyond 1.5 to 2 inches; there are diff drop kits to address some of this for larger lifts but still the issues will remain. On road live axles are far less comfortable and worsen the handling, all else equal. As always its about compromise. The holy grail in terms of balance I would say are independent portal axles where the axle drives through the top as opposed to the centre of the wheel hub allowing significant lift whilst retaining standard geometry and, avoiding the diff clearance issue at the same time. They are difficult to develop and engineer and which is why you don't see many of them and, of the portal axle options out there, it is mostly limited to solid axle vehicles; they are 3 to 5+ times the price of a lift.

    • @djtesseract3064
      @djtesseract3064 Месяц назад

      High hub drive systems which drive the wheel via an upper placed gearing system is best. Another poster called it a portal axle drive system. It's like what is used on Humvee military trucks which have 20 inches of ground clearance.

    • @cowelk
      @cowelk 22 дня назад

      You are right. The diff height didn't change however, the 40s, increased the diff height. If the JT came with 33s and now you add 40s you increased the diff height by half of the difference or 3.5 inches from factory tires.

      @chadgraber4575. Im not saying it isn't cool. Im just saying it's overpriced. Reminds me of the anylevel kit for Ford. The $7k price tag does nothing for the average guy off roading on the weekends. Im sure lots of pavement warriors will love this.
