Deniz Sapientia get an mma guy in a boxing match he will get destroyed (unless his opponent is trash). They are two different things. Thats like telling a track runner to play soccer instead of limiting themselves to running. Go to your nearest boxing gym and ask for some sparring. Lets see what u think about that limited form of striking then.
I'm used to kicking 180 degrees but yeah you're right. the thing is, it can get very dangerous making one step right to your opponents right hand. you kick harder, I am no master but if I was to kick 45 degree I would throw it to the leg or the ribs and get right back to keep the distance. with 45 degree kick you'€e getting in very dangerous position. watch Conor in his rematch against Diaz. he threw 45 degree kick really really hard but he had to literally push Nate's arms away from him and keep his guards up. just be careful, brother
Not only does slightly hopping on the lead foot for the 180° rotation help generate more power, but it also helps aid in less rotational damage to your knee during the kick. To your point, no friction with a light hop. Excellent video and tips.
Oddly enough I started doing the second way because while I was using the bag one night my wife told me that I was telegraphing my kick and I just randomly started doing that instead. The funny part is she doesn't even fight, so mine must have been horribly telegraphed LOL Awesome as usual Shane
I train Muay Thai *in* Thailand, and I still come to this channel for some of the nuances that my coaches have trouble relating across the language barrier.
You really inspired me to start Muay Thai! I've been doing it for a month now and I get really bad blood blisters on the ball of my foot and my big toe from throwing round kicks. They're super gross and they hurt quite a bit, but I hope my skin will toughen enough to be able to withstand the friction!
Your channel is one of the only fight tip channels around that isn't for dvd sales or shot with shoddy technique in someone's basement. Love your videos and always appreciate the tips
Thanks for this shane, it helps me a lot. I'm a former amateur boxer and a Filipino martial arts practitioner but I practice kicking in my own and study muay thai online due to poverty that I can't afford to go to gyms and dojos. I'm from philippines..
Much appreciated shane. I'm not a competitive fighter but i like training for the sake of self defense and fitness. I'm around your same weight, 142 and was wondering how you stay so lean. I've always been small and somewhat stocky but staying lean is becoming harder for me somehow. Again, your knowledge is much appreciated. Viva the underdogs!
just a side note for anyone taking pointer who didn't see his pivot with the lead leg is on the ball of his foot don't use your heal and a trunk rotation will bring you more power that's why he said end with a hook it gets your bodies momentum and weight behind the kick
When i spar, I have this habbit of not wanting to hurt my partner, so i end up hitting his shoulder and not his face. How do i teach myself to hit my partner and not be scared to hurt them? Weird question ik
Slick This happens to everyone when they start, I had this really neat muay thai guy that helped me by telling me to punch him in the face while we were sparring. He was way above my skill level at the moment so it helps sparring with someone better that tries to help you and not beat the shit out of you.
Touché This most definitely does not happen to everyone. This is extremely rare. It's more that they are afraid to throw because they are in pure survival mode.
Slick little advice always try to hurt people first in sparring !!,because believe me they won’t go easy on you unless they way more better fighter,I treat like a street fight don’t get hit and hit them,
If you have a wild sparring partner, who's also a beginner, movement does it. Most novice thaiboxing practitioners have limited mobility and/or throw haymakers that will tire them out quickly. If they are obnoxiously agressive, tell 'm so. If not, a few well placed body shots/low kick combinations, out, repeat, out. Most fun at sparring however are the people that have been doing it for ages and allow you to develop your rythm too, allow you to work, then switch it up. Sparring should be the most fun of your (recreational) training.
that non-telegrpahed kick is a straight up taekwondo. the basics and fundamentals of old school olympic style taekwondo. I keep telling people that during a kicking game, Muay Thai guy will never reach a taekwondo guy because of those extra steps / telegraph. This is a very good tutorial for muay thai fighters.
Hey Shane I just wanted to know if you take supplements for training. If so can you possibly recommend one for me. I've been training without the use of supplements but I'm wondering if taking them would step my game up.
Another tip for roundhouse style kicks is you can start the kick off like a front kick, and finish like a roundhouse. If you lift you knee up in front of you , and mix front kicks and round houses they won’t be able to tell which detection the kick is coming from.
Yaas. 3rd point is my all time go to make sure my kicks land. My fav combo is jab+cross a quick followup with a right roundhouse to the thighs. Reason behind is after the cross ur kinetic is halfway into it all u had to do is lift ur right leg, angle n aim then dig deep into the thighs with minimal effort
Shane, you should definitely look into inviting Faze Sensei down to your garage to train with you. Would be great for both of your channels and he’s into boxing, kick boxing, MMA, etc. just like you. Would love to see you two spar
Is there any tips you can give to people with flat feet like me, I noticed that those with well developed arches have better balance and foot work and don’t tire as much as people with flat feet do
Can you make video of just kicking - non stop proper form kicking. I'd like to see into every detail of the kick and it's kinda slow moving the video back and waiting for the kick again and again.
Shane with anotha great tip👊💯honestly i watch your vedios allot and it helps but for some reason i dont remember to use it sometimes when i box with my boys
This is very good. Some principles of this are certainly taught in traditional tae kwon do (not the silly sport one where fighters bounce up and down with their hands at their sides)
Speaking of TKD, when I was learning it, I used to love going to competitions and landing a 45 degree kick straight off the momentum of either a front kick or a side kick. Only do it sparingly so that the opponent doesn't expect it. Worked a treat more often than it didn't.
I like you channel, I dabbled in martial arts from karate/Krav Maga/Taekwondo.it one sport I would like to be committed to, but I love bodybuilding more and have not got money right take up martial arts so watch your channel for motivation
0:25 I think you should remove the horse from the heavy bag

Nik Klemenčič Ay litt i had my forst muai thai bout and with some fighttips i ended up winning🔥 and you will the next one😉
You shouldn't call it losing, but learning
You'll win the next one, trust me!
Broooo fuck boxing do mma, upgrade that shit broooo
Alessandro He should do whatever he wanna do.. If he feels good doing boxing, why the hell would he moved to mma
makes no sense

I swear your fighttips made me win my first fight

Shane is that once supportive friend we wish we all had
BRYAN GALINDO once?
EggsGalore Gaming Upon a time
BRYAN GALINDO that can also fuck most people average up badly
EggsGalore Gaming I think he meant one instead of once
Wow stepping out that 45 degree angle actually makes the kick a lot more powerful thanks Shane 💪

Any advice on how to cope with the overwhelming, soul crushing feeling of inadequacy?
No one should cope with that feeling. Go out and make yourself adequate
@@mustafaaljumaah72 I happens in the middle of a fight
BEST TEACHER👍👍
GAMING BAND Agreed
Thats why there are so many sneaky headkicks in muay thai, they just stand in front of you and BAM!, didn't even see that
just a side note for anyone taking pointer who didn't see his pivot with the lead leg is on the ball of his foot don't use your heal and a trunk rotation will bring you more power that's why he said end with a hook it gets your bodies momentum and weight behind the kick

Gonna make any lethwei headbutt vids, saw dave leduc mention fight tips ina vid
So friendly and genuine.
I’ve always taught rotating on the ball for rh kicks. And feinting with the rear shoulder on every kick. Shoulder turns, hip rotates, kick fires.
292 likes to 1 dislike, that bag isn’t happy with the video.
HAHAHAHA
Now 50 people are still telegraphing kicks
that non-telegrpahed kick is a straight up taekwondo. the basics and fundamentals of old school olympic style taekwondo. Always good to get a refresher on this as speed kills!
The bag instructionals are just the best.

World tour is the words i need to hear a person with the right advice
0:25 wuz that sound
That small change goes a long way. Your kick became super fast. Thank you for sharing anther awesome tip 😊
Haven't seen your videos in a while. Your speed and dexterity really improved. Well done Shane !
This is the content we need! I miss this!

These videos have helped me so much and I don’t think I would be nearly as good without them
My man Shane over here teaching us peeps like a G
Thats the way we kick in TKD we pivot when we kick
Joe Lopez That's how you are supposed to kick unless you are doing a Teep or something.
Shane, you should definitely look into inviting Faze Sensei down to your garage to train with you. Would be great for both of your channels and he’s into boxing, kick boxing, MMA, etc. just like you. Would love to see you two spar

Dam!!!!!!!!!!! Your going to break the bag shane
gotta say, I miss the "Self-Defense for the Under-Dog" days
Think of these as an evolution of those days. Martial Arts always have that crucial aspect of self defense embedded in them.
Thanks for teaching

I got my feet injury while kicking what to do for preventing them
I like that you dont do a big sweeping motion with your had on the side that your kicking, I'm working on keeping my hands tighter while I kick

Hey Shane can you make a video about deciding which style of martial arts to follow if you’re just starting out?

I use the step quite a bit, or should say I did back in the day but I suppose if bagwork counts I still do
Nice work
