We've got a 2018 firestick on our small kitchen tv. I noticed it's been pretty slow lately, even though I restart and do maintenance fairly regularly. I'll factory reset it, and I bet she'll run like a top. I'm waiting for the new 4k max to go on sale.
I'm not sure what you mean. You can always switch between devices as much as you want. With or without a reset. I travel with mine all over the country. Maybe I don't understand the question?

Be patient. Be sure to put your remote in pairing mode. During reset it can take a few min to find the remote once you do the pairing mode. We have videos explaining how
Congrats on the free firestick. Sounds like it’s a locked up stick or way out of date. You’ll need to factory reset it with the remote code. If it’s too old, you can’t. Get more info on it, it would be hard to help you without more info
All factory resets on any device you will start over like new. This is done for those that have a stick they can't use. If your stick is fine with the apps you want, there is no need to factory reset it. If it doesn't work anyway, then clearly you would
The things you are wanting to do would be better served with an Android box. You can still get mouse toggle to work. We have the tutorial on patreon. It's changed (process).
How old is your firestick? Have you tried to contact Amazon support? Likely you lost connection during an auto update (always turn that off - we have a video on it)
It does if pressed at the exact moment of initial boot. Timing is key. I've fixed many this way. If you want to give up, just trade it in for credit on a new one

Looks like it’s jammed. Unplug from power, wait 60 seconds, then plug power in (tv connection doesn’t matter)

Did you use watch the remote fix video? Did you sync the new remote? If it's too much hassle, the firestick is very inexpensive

Factory reset is the same as if you just purchased a new one. So no, you would lose all the 3rd party apps. All the others can be synced back the same

It's a factory reset. Yes all your apps will be gone. This is to be done when your firestick isn't running well

I have tried to do updates for about 2 weeks now, & there hasn't been any updates,??? Wat do I do??
