It's the directional buttons. I couldn't show you on our remote because every remote is different. But once you change the setting, anyone can figure that out my friend.

So two things make sure the firestick Jj is in the ARC port. Then it will work. Or go into settings on the firestick and sync the universal remote. If you are asking how to do that without an active remote. It’s called the fire tv app. It’s free, in your phone App Store and controls the firestick. You should be familiar with it after our videos on the app
I connected my Firestick to my Alexa app, as soon as I got it. Then control my what I want to see, Firestick through my Echo Dot speaker. Didn't need anyone to explain it to me, it's simple enough lol

However, my current remote no longer controls Volume and the Homw button only works on a long press for quick menu. And, it won't let me unpaired 2 app remotes.
Gary, we need to see what you are doing wrong cause I have 8 firesticks, 3 cubes and 2 fire tvs and not one single remote went bad. I think we need to see how you are using your stick. Are you putting the stick to sleep every dat? Regularly restarting it? Cause if you don't it will kill the batteries and your stick will lock up. Reach out on patreon if you need help. Remotes don't go bad my friend.
now if only it could do the initial start up on the firestick....my remote took a crap while moving and now I cant redo the set up on my firestick because i don't have a fire stick remote

I can't get to the settings to do what your talking about. I lost my re.ote and can only power it up on the bottom corner. Insignia. It says it cannot find my device and to be sure they are connected to the same network. They are. Am I gonna have to buy another remote?! I have a headache. Hope this made sense. Yes, there is always a way. I had this happen at one of my clients and I went into their kids room to grab a playstation remote (any Bluetooth will work) and synced that. It doesn't need wifi to sync bluetooth. Then navigated to settings to complete the required service. This might be an option. Surely you have some game system or a generic bluetooth remote of some sort.

You can. Try the universal remote. Setup can be done with the fire app

All that means is your model of LG does not have a universal remote. I have an older LG that also doesn't. You can get a universal remote to fix this.
