  • I'm very impressed with how well this thing flies, even with a camera sticking out on a pole & without doing any manual tuning yet!

I could never, ever, balance my props well enough to eliminate jello in my footage from a 10" quad. Even with a dynamic balancing rig. How have you managed it with a camera on an extension arm?

I think it's a combination of two things. Firstly, many people will tell you that triblade props are 'inherently better balanced' than twinblade props, which makes logical sense in my mind (each blade is balanced by the 'average' of the other two?) but I don't know for certain whether it's actually true. Secondly, this is the latest & greatest version of Betaflight with RPM filtering via bi-directional DSHOT (BLHeli_32 ESCs). Those two things together probably make a huge difference compared to a similar build from even just 1 or 2 years ago, that probably would've been using twinblade props & wouldn't have had any of the fancy filtering that Betaflight has introduced in recent updates.
I tried something similar to this last year with the arm mounted under a hexacopter & it was not happy at all (I have a video on it), but that was running Arducopter so not a fair direct comparison.

@@CJDavies I really liked your wire vibration isolator.

How did you configure pid and filters?

I used the appropriate preset from UAV Tech. I think this was before presets were built into the Betaflight Configurator so I just copied from the UAV Tech website.
