- Starship Corporation pitches itself as a spaceship builder simulator, a strategy game where you are in the business of building spaceships for profit. The game mechanics initially have you bidding on contracts, designing spacecraft, testing the ships and eventually building ships.

Hooooly crap. I totally backed this years ago and had completely given up on it. Can't believe it's still in production.
"Let's call it Shippy McShipface. It's gonna get shipfaced."
This is why I love this channel.
Watching this game just makes me excited to play The Mandate, if that game ever finishes.
yeeeees
I'm actually wanting to play a Stellaris mod where all the races ape European aristocracy from the late 19th century.
+Scott Manley hey ur really fun to whatch pause . (But in the middle of the first vid I saw of u I couldn't stop lafffffing keep up the good work then I just sub'd ) ;)
Didn't that get banned or am I thinking of something else?
+sequorroxx
The one that made all human portraits white and all names European was removed for literally no other reason besides "fuck white people."
I had to google your "SCE to Aux" comment, and proceeded to spend an hour learning about Apollo 12's near disaster. Thanks!
Nice to see that there is progress on this. When I last checked on this game I kinda wanted back it but there hadn't been a single update or word from the developer in months. Looks like I'll be revisiting this soon.
Nice to see that you are still making videos, I really enjoyed this one. Although, the high resolution you have prevents reading the in-game text.
They ought to mix this with the concept for 'Computer, Open That Door!'. I feel like most of my favourite space game concepts should be amalgamated.
Reviews on this game and the developers behind it make me reluctant to buy anytime soon.
Wow, I'm sure I mentioned this to you a very long time ago and it's great to see how it has improved!
That escape pod alarm isn't nearly annoying or screechy enough.
It's ripped from the Alien movies.
The weird thing is that the game starts with the hull first, then the rooms go in it. It's like Dwarf Fortress where you're carving your rooms out of the hull. A better implementation would be to start with components and rooms and corridors first, then built a hull around them.
I like the power/water/coolant wiring, though. Lots of room for optimization there.
Guess what the developer just got rid of in the last update lol
do you think you'd be willing to try a let's play series of this? i'd defintely be interested in watching it.
Oh good, it's finally playable. Been waiting for some time now.
IDK if you remember me, but I actually commented how the star collour represented their surface temepraturre and I thank you for correcting me there.
Fly safe! Because getting to the evacuation pods requires going through the reactors, which is traditionally one of the explody bits of the ship.
I would like to see more of this
It reminds me of the ship designing from Star Ruler turned into an entire game of its own.
Hi,
Is there any gameplay for a given starship beyond simulations ? I mean I get checking and running all drills, red, yellow and blue alerts, but, is there a part where you deliver a starship, and also what happens next ? Starship design looks interesting, but I would like to know if there is more meat to the game beyond it
you should try Kerbal space program
+The DragonGinger Hehe thx, already playing it. I was hopinh this would be something similar but waay more complex
Currently you only have one office and design contracts. The plan is to expand that, so you will also have construction contracts where you have to build and deliver them and when you get more officies, you will have to use the ships for infrastructure.
This game looks prety cool. It would be amazing if they made it easily modable, so people could make Star Wars/Trek/Battlestar/etc ships
@1:09 one of those three managers had the Weyland-Yutani symbol on his hard hat!
"SCE has been switched to AUX". I understood that reference!
It's so close to something I would play. It would need to be a bit like... #TheSims meets Space Tycoon and ships fully functional. All the dangers of a #StarCitizen type of space too. This game obviously doesn't do enough for me so far.
Cool idea for a game, but the UI seems to be kind of clunky and not very intuitive to use...
The ship building mostly works, the crew management is really a mess.
I played a very early prototype of this game several years ago. You could download a build for free on the devs website. Was build on some cheap game making engine back then. From the looks of it, it still runs on the same technology.
The game design is promising, the technical implementation not so much.
jbZahl Yeah, I read some reviews on Steam and it still runs on something called GameMaker. Actually it says that on the game's web page as well. Hardware requirements are very high despite the simple look and almost non-existant simulation. And it still runs quite poorly. Someone said it takes three minutes for the game to load. Just as you said, the game design/concept is promising, but what's under the hood kind of ruins it. The game needs a proper game engine and a lot of polishing up of the UI.
Banished is an excellent example of what one skillful and determined individual can do. It runs on an engine made by the developer himself, it's quite a complex simulation of hundreds of people with different needs and their pathfinding, and graphically it looks extremely nice. And it is also a quite light game to run.
Holy shit, GameMaker?? Hope they make a sequel in unity or unreal then... Still, this is really impressive for something made in GameMaker though!
Wow I still have the book and disks for Gamemaker, bought that in 2000 I think may have been '99. Wow can't see that being very viable in the current era lol
that UI just made my head explode
Heh, that asteroid density again. Fair enough that might've been a large asteroid that for some reason broke up into pieces, but that's a mighty specific scenario to prepare for. When will game devs and SciFi creators understand that an asteroid field is mostly empty space with the rare skyscraper sized rock floating around, but still mostly empty?
i thought this was another video on space citizen LOL and ironically you could own a starship building corporation in that game as well because it's so indepth
Man - looks highly technical and full immersion into micromanagement. At what point does this game start to be fun?
I would like it if the crew management part would be replaced by some kind of first person strategy/shooter.
See, if we could merge these concepts with Space Engineers, we would have a nice, solid game.
hey Scott, can you please do another video on this game?
I believe this is worth a Gameplay!
This is sooo cool! Can you make more content about it?
Wasn't this a Gamemaker game from a few years ago? It seems more polished and less buggy, but irritatingly familiar.
SCE to AUX, you sir are a steely eyed missile man!
I remember this game when it was in it's alpha
Hahaha, I met the developer once.. didn't expect to see a video about the game from scott :D
Looks really elaborate. Just a pity the resolution in which it is recorded makes it hard to read the texts. And im missing little green men with silly smiles being blown up.
I wanted to record in even higher resolution but the text has no scaling.
I like this concept... But I think it may still need some work.
I feel like this probably needs a bit more time in the oven, but it looks like a really neat idea. I hope the dev goes somewhere with it.
Hey Scott, could you play Galaxy Harvest? I am not sure, I think it's a flash game, you know, free games on internet. It's really cool, has a interesting story and a amazing soundtrack.
I played the super early alpha demo of this game and it looked really promising. Glad to see it's progressing, though that UI is just godawful.
Hi Scott.
I like your videos, but please keep the music volum a lot lower then ingame / background music
Looks amazing!
Do you eventually get the ability to transfer power and cooling and such through the decks? or is it all designed by deck basis.
music is great in this game.
13:20 it's funny how habits from usual CAD software comes right back at you when playing that kind of game right? I loved that sequence hehehe, I totally understand where that's coming from :-) ! Also since I've been doing some PCB routing recently, I can confirm this is terrible routing and kids shouldn't try this at home :-D
if the game showed the sections as fleshed out rooms and decks and such it would be more to my liking but not being that doesnt make it any worse a game than it is
So... Scott Manley... Less than a month until No Man's Sky, are you excited? Will we see any gameplay from you?
Only if the devs choose to let me see the game.
Well it'll be released on June 21st. Or are you saying you won't buy a copy?
+Scott Manley They aren't letting the press and people to see in the game because people will find out how repetitive and boring it is.
Nice try troll, apparently you haven't seen all the IGN and Gamestop coverage where they actually got to play the game.
lots of games have repetitive elements, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be boring.
looks like it has potential.
Something about Iceberg Interactive and designing a ship that survive a asteroid belt cluster
This is Spaceship Corporation, a game in which you are in control of a corporation that makes starships.
Well that's straightforward isn't it?
I dont think this is KotOR
No, that's on chickendragons gaming channel.
Was that alert sound the same alarm sound from Alien?
I thought the same thing
Just make sure there are no giant gribbly monsters, between you and the escape pods and don't forget the cat on your way out
And dont forget to check those escape pods for stowaways
Calvin Skinner
Oh and no one eat the cornbread, thats very important
while on the express elevator to hell :-D
onto the Steam wish-list it goes
uhhhh ive been looking for someone to let's play this!
Is that a Green HAL 9000 teaching you the game?
It's probably his successor, HAL 10000
No, it has a female voice, so it's SAL
+Scott Manley well I can't argue with the manley
i hope she won`t get rid of you....
SAL was blue-eyed, if I'm not sorely mistaken.
Ooooh... It must be the little sister, then :D
I feel like Scott was asked to play this game by the developers but just doesnt like it very much.. Either way, still entertaining to watch his video as always :)
I was introduced to this game by the devs back in 2015, and the concept is fantastic, and I can see that a lot of work has gone into the game mechanics. But the UI and mechanics are lacking.
Scott Manley I agree completely, I really like the idea for the game and it seems like the type of game id spend a lot of time playing if only it had been executed a little better. And I appreciate you replying Scott, love you and your videos! :)
dont switch sce to ox prematurely, wait for the thunder strike to hit you. I envy you, you can say things like that and people know what you talk about
Wow, it has been a while since I sent you that request...
+Scott Manley you should play Sir, You are being hunted.
Wait, so what is "Life Support" if it's not related to how much water and oxygen you have? Is it just... air vents?
You'll die from CO2 poisoning long before you run out of oxygen, life support is complicated.
So should I look at that enormous module (bigger than a nuclear generator!) as being one big lithium hydroxide canister? I guess that works, but it doesn't feel very futuristic.
Most German game ever. Design starships, TEST THEM TO DEATH, and hope you land the contract after hours of testing. Then you get rewarded with the privilege of getting to do it all over again lol
Shame you can't name the company "Lakon" or "Zorgon Peterson"
8:25 I understood that reference.
"you are in charge of a corporation wich makes spaceships"
sounds alot like ksp
I would like it if the simulations were a little bit better and in-depth.
But what did you score in the asteroid collision scenario ?!
I was up to 8 I think when I got bored.
Wait they actually updated this?
damn that UI is really not good, holy crap i think my eyes are bleeding
Makes you kind of wonder if we built starships for real would we crash-test them? Imagine crash-testing something like the Enterprise! o0
Building ships is how I made Billions of ISK... ;)
IDK whether or not to nerdgasm or tut-tut at the shameless use of 2001: A Space Odyssey imagery (green-tinted HAL lens, the Discovery-style display screens in the transitions)...
Approximately 23% of all Sci Fi deign is deciding which classic to base the aesthetic on.
True, but sometimes, there's a difference between a knowing nod to an inspiration and just jacking the assets.
Like, for my money, the use of the Nostromo's alert tones is totes fine. The use of HAL is a little less so for me. I'd still play it, though...
So that's where that orb comes from.. I ripped it off google images and used it as a profile image way back.. seen it in several other places since. Thought maybe I started a trend lol
There's a lot of stuff from Aliens as well. It's not a bad thing.
How did you get the game to boot, it just crashes on the loading screen for me
Scott Manley: Do you hate this game? Because you sound like you're having cca as much fun as having to listen Arnold Judas Rimmer droning on about telegraph poles.
The game came out today...
The menus look very similar to to EVE
Not enough spreadsheets.
That's quite a convoluted tutorial.
yes it is, the tutorial goes on for hours.
This type of game can already be built on HTML5, no install needed.
So can most genres. What's your point?
that brigde placement ad one block lacking...why game devs...why
What is the description section on about? This video has nothing to do with Starwars
It's youtube gaming trying to match 'Starship Corporation' to a game it knows about.
haha.. Good job youtube Gaming- GG. Well guess your off the hook, didn't know it was an automatic prosess. Though it was something you manually put in the desc, and obviously it didn't make much sense.
-Cheers
In the description section RUclips had put in a little add for the game "it though" he was playing. But it was actually completely the wrong game. It had put in an ad for *Star wars The Old Republic.*
There's only ever going to be 21 million Bitcoins so if the entire economy runs on them then thousands of coins for a single ship represents a significant chunk of the entire wealth of the galaxy.
The currency is Bitcoin. Nice. :)
What, a high-tech space game NOT about fighting alien enemies? What world is this!
There are actually scenarios where you deal with alien infestations.
I think I will have to get this
Only reason i not buy this is, that you have the last patch notes on forum from for 6 or 7 months and in this time no development happent. I see no diffrence between the version and the new steam version.
And as next there is no proof that the developer improve the game more with new stuff.
Please don't be mad, but it appears that English is a second language for you. Just to help you out may I rewrite your comment in a more fluent way?
The only reason I will not buy this is that the last patch notes on the forum are from 6 or 7 months ago, and in this time no development has happened. I see no difference between the old version and the new steam version. There is no proof that the developer has improved the game with new stuff.
What the hell are you on about? The last patchnote was in MAY. Yes THIS VERY MONTH.
ObiWan thx for correcting me. Mansen, good you have eyes, but there are not good enjoy to read the patch notes, nooble
DougFunnyJunior I'm sure on some planet your language makes sense, but your weak link is... this is Earth.
What's up with the intro?
Reminds me of eve online interface
interesting game
"The universe of the future runs on Bitcoin" I bloody well hope so!!
And then one spaceship costs 13k bitcoin. Wait what?
Either those are some really really expensive spaceships, or the economy in that future world is extremely weak :D
Or, you know, inflation. 7% inflation would double prices every 10 years.
Nerd Punk-Fu Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million total coins ever.
If their economy is based on bitcoin, then 13000 bitcoins is a significant part of their economy.
That hipster foolishness is enough to turn me off the game from the start.
needs a special event with training against a invading alien with acid blood ...and face hugging fetish
✓Early Access
✓Only 67% positive reviews
✓Is $20
✓Looks really boring
Hello!
I hate to hit that dislike button but ... if you're recording in 1440p and the game text is that small, the game text is unreadable on the normally sharp 1080p.
I normally record in 1440p, but I did this in 1080p because the text was so small.
yeah, I heard the comment at the end (lesson against commenting early and incorrectly !). Think this one is one that needs a lot more time in the oven but you made it look interesting :-).
do more
Just play Eve Online - at least then you can blow stuff up
Please keep Scott away from designing starships
This looks absolutely boring to me at least. Kudo's to peeps that can hold that attention span.
I think you would really like this game if you had Asperger's and autism. I think you could get locked in for a good 75 years...

First 5 seconds, UI and text rendering utterly make the game unplayable. Whole game ruined, because of that.
I love the concept of the game, but it just feels like one of those german Garbage Truck Simulator 2013 that has been developed by people who have never ever developed or played any other game in their entire lives. And hence they have no common sense or clue about how a UI should be designed or how to make anything sensible in layout or function.
Whelp as soon as I heard that the currency of the future was bitcoin I peaced out.
