Thank you for all the knowledge. Looking forward to the grow tent content. I have a small grow tent for my plants with a humidifier and fan. All my plants have put out a new pitcher on every new leaf and have had several leaf jumps since being put in the tent. I'm excited to see how yours do.✌🏽
This is very interesting and shows how much genetics and personal care affect the end result. I grow burbidgeae, jacquelineae, lowii and a bunch other highlanders in a totally different way than what works for you; they're in a tray in open air so low humidity, 12h of very bright light per day, and get a weekly spray of fertilizer with occasional coffee. So far so good, with 2-3x leaf jumps and systematic pitchering. I think by knowing your conditions and understanding your plants, you can get away with a lot!
You're great at reframing things, thank you, love your videos! Already think I know what is wrong and your video is doubling down on my worries (backing up my hunches)
I'm excited to see how the tent project goes. I have Nepenthes starting this year on both a window sill and in a grow tent. I have mine in the grow tent sitting in a tray with light diffuser similar to yours but concerned that it is just too much moist at 75-80% humidity and having a moisture tray.
@@WindowsillNepenthes it's supposed to be intermediate, and that's what I have, I actually work with species that are not supposed to be in this conditions like robcantleyi and bicalcarata (both in the same place) and are doing better, I think I will try to re pot it to something more draining and see if it works
My N. Veitchii x edwartiana startet to get normal but floppy leafs, probably overwatering I repotted it but mostly all roots rippt of due to growing in dense moss ( like your burb. probably less) Do you think it will survive ?
Just yesterday I decided to nab a ventrata I saw in the store cause why not, it was €8 originally but 40% off. I thought it'd be able to survive the bus ride back home since it'd only be exposed to brief cold temperatures. Unfortunately, 45 minutes of -6°C was enough to really mess it up lmao. Growth point and all the leafs are rubber-y and floppy. It's still green but the plant itself doesn't look like it's gonna pull through. The fastest I've ever killed a plant ngl 😂
not a nepenthes expert but i studied plants in school. nematodes are extremely difficult to get rid of once established, as their eggs will hatch at different rates in the substrate. Nematode infections begin because of poor sterilization of soil and infected tools, they can live in almost all soils for many years before starving. You will want to remove all substrate and replace it with stuff you know isn't contaminated. you will also want to inspect the plant's roots for galls, as these will need to be removed, they may contain sexually mature nematodes. and finally nematicides can be used, but i have no idea what types are available for potted plant usage, as most brands i know of are licensed for commercial use. i hope you can get a handle on the issue!! good luck!
Hello man, i have a verry big nepenthes. I just bought it it looked verry good. But I placed it into my greenhouse and it is verry hot 30degrees celcius and verry sunny. I do water it a lot, with demineralised water. It now seems to.turn almost completely brown, mainly the leaves not really the pitchers, also the growing top is burned. Is this because it has way to much heat/sun? It came out of a store and stood indoors so I believe it may have not been used to such massive light and heat. I just now put some plasyic wrap arpund the intire plant. So it gets les intens sun, and keeps more moist around the leaves. I would like to send a picture but I can't on youtube comments. Do you think the plant will die, what would be the best to save the plant? Do you have an email to send a photo of it?
Hello thanks for the fast awnser. My humidity is right now 87% but it's dark and evening. The temperature is now 13 degrees Celsius. In day time the humidity maybe gets around 40-60% and the temperature to about 30 or even more when it's sunny hot wheater. When it's cloudy the temp is 15 to 20.
@@WindowsillNepenthes Thanks. I'm new in nepethles and i got a nepethles alata. I read that 60 % humidity is the lowest possibile humidity to have, and my room has 60%. I read too that somethimes plants can rot when you spray it in winter so should i spray it? Now i put some plates with water near to the plant to increase the humidity. xd
@@nigru2346 60% is good and I believe you have a ventrata as real alata are rare and expensive. Anyway I spray every day from spring to winter. Again if the leaves dry between it's ok.
help my plants wilting. the leaves are soft i did repot to help but notthing. but i didnt pot perlite in the spagnum. i do have many pitchers in my greenhouse
I'm actually surprised the lowii didn't like your windowsill cause temperature wise it's on the colder side, but lowii also need really high humidity so I'm guessing that was the biggest issue.. also what are you gonna do with that thing when it starts making pitchers the size of your humidity domes lmfaooo

Thanks a lot! For sure 2023 will be fun!
Thank you so much Patricia! ❤️
Glad your plants are recovering! And thank you for gracing us with your wisdom once again. Especially recovering sick plants!

Yes it's by expensive than we improve ☺️
Hope you had a great Christmas and i wish you a very happy new year. May the best of 2022 be the worst of 2023! Love the videos.

Merry Christmas bro
Glad your tentaculata is doing better. Great video!

For my understanding, you need airflow like a fan moving this humid air ;) But we will interview a few Grow Tent growers and learn a lot together ;)
@@WindowsillNepenthes There's airflow from fans.
I have a palawanensis, and it just, stop growing, it was doing ok, but for a couple of weeks, no movement or growing at all
Did you checked it's temperature needs? And do it has that growing condition?

Remy I’d like to know if you’ve ever dealt with a fungal infection and how to treat it exactly. Fungicide all over?
I don't know... I never got that because I was only growing them on a windowsill, but with the grow tent that may happen.

Hard to tell but don't give up as n. Eddy are slow even to recover.
Did you use hydrogen peroxide to clean the plant
Only a little on the roots when I repotted it. But I was more thinking about too much light. And in fact it was too little humidity 🤣
Thank you 🙏
I have a nice grow tent setup to show you
You had me at Canadien Bacon. Has healing powers.

It could still bounce back, but it will need time. ;) But you are right, they hate cold...
If you’re reading this I’m in front of Carnivero to get heliamphora "godzilla"
Did you get it?
@Brian-qn2mx yes but it died after a few months did everything right.

can you make a tutorial on how to treat nematode infection?
Sorry but I know nothing about nematodes pests, but I heard about an insecticide called "nematicides" that could help you.

I would reduce the amount of light for sure. What is your humidity in the greenhouse?

Do i should sprinkle nepethles on winter ?
Do you mean spraying them with water? it will depend on your species, the humidity in the room and if there is enough airflow for the leaves to dry.

Yes the humidity was the problem. And I'll have a grow tent soon so it will be fine for a few years, especially since highlander are slow to grow. ;)
