I bought two of these for painting guitar bodies. The second one I had an issue with the paint leaking from the nozzle but loosening the packing nut in front of the trigger fixed it instantly. It works great with a small compressor. I do not bother using a regulator because I only need about 2 cfm to spray the water based paint I use. Plus I use a 15' hose and the PSI setting stays pretty consistent when I spray so I just use the regulator that is on the compressor. I basically wanted a low cost spray system instead of using rattle cans and this fits the bill perfectly.

So true! It’s beats the rattle cans. I have 2 and still love them. And thank you very much…..

Add a regulator and moisture separator (get rid of the valve) and you'll love it more! BTW, always filter your paint. I also use a ~4' whip hose on the end of my air line for more flexibility. Just a bit small for motorcycle work, but still works great.

Nice review, I'm going to get one for spraying Rust-Oleum on small projects. Rust-Oleum thinned sprays really good through my old Binks number 7 paint gun, but it makes a lot of overspray even at 35 PSI. I hope that little harbor freight detail gun will save paint / less overspray than my old Binks. I use acetone to thin Rust-Oleum, was the recommendation of customer service at Rust-Oleum.

I finally used mine today, had to paint 10 heater registers black. Used Rust-Oleum paint and thinned it out. It sprayed great, it was so much cheaper then buying a bunch of spray cans . What a nice little spray gun.

the paint has a lot to do with the success you will have with this gun. the tractor paint seems like it's a perfect fit. I've taken my apart and cleaned it thoroughly many times. It's a great gun to practice with. I recommend buying several different cheapo guns and practicing to experience the differences and if you screw up no big loss.

+Phil's Projects So true! It's like an apple at the store cost $2 but a Twinkie cost $.50. The Twinkie has to be made, packaged, and shipped. The apple just has to be picked up off the ground. Makes me wonder. I really do like this gun and plan to get another one for primer. That way I can prime and paint before I clean everything. Thanks so much.....

This guns sits in my arsenal of Devilbiss Pro lite & Flg-5, Sata Nr95, Walcom Geo fx ,INR R150T And others..This gun is an Iwata copy and it is Gem..I used this gun only on a sand rail complete and its works well,I mainly use it for roll cages in drag cars...I have also used this gun with my 1963 Devilbiss 1hp 3 gallon compressor on the dock to do some touch ups on my boat using gel coat because it is small and very efficient..

I just received one of these. What's the nozzle size? I used a magnifying glass , it's stamped 90. 90? what the hell does that mean? I have the std size sprayer, it is stamped clearly 1.4 . I also have the touch up sprayer , it's instruction book states in the specifications the nozzle is 1.5 . The specs for this one doesn't list the nozzle size. Is it a secret? It does have a nice chart telling you what nozzle to use for different fluids. Seems to me to be an important spec.

Jeff's Big Guitars I bought this gun today just to spray the base coat on a set of rims I’m refinishing. I put a little reducer in it out of the box just to adjust the psi, fan ect and the gun was spitting a sputtering the whole time. After a little research, which I should’ve done in the first place, I disassembled the entire gun. It was full of chunks of assembly lube all over the Inside of the Gun. Took me almost 2 hours to get it all cleaned out and reassembled, huge pita. But after that I was actually surprised how decent of a job it did for a $13 spray gun.

!HELP PLEASE! I have the same problem (min 1:09) with my new mini spray gun, how could you fix it? i use the same adapter with other spray guns and i dont have porblems , only with my new gun its truper pipi-400, I do not have air regulator on the bottom of the gun like yours, air comes out from the adapter when I move the gun, if I do not move the gun and leave the gun in a certain position stops giving the problem, but obviously I can not paint since the position is not favorable to paint, and I repeat use the same adapter for other guns without problems, and the size of the adapter is apparently correct, some idea or solution? I would greatly appreciate your help, have a nice day and I'll be waiting for your answer, thanks.

For those wondering, I just received an email response from Harbor Freight Support regarding tips. The tip that comes with this gun is a 0.6mm (.0236") . On page 10 of the booklet there is a chart listing optional fluid tips. None exist. Here is the response I receiver on Oct 01, 2024-
The fluid tip this unit comes with is a 0.6mm. Unfortunately, we do not have an outsource for optional tips for this unit. The nozzle tip can be difficult to remove, it is healed with a sealant. If you are able to remove and find an outsourced item you would need to replace the needle as well.

No problem. However, I just looked at the gun and now I know what you are talking about. Unfortunately, I never took it fully apart to clean it. I have only taken off the tip and cup and run acetone through it until it runs clean. And now that I look at it I'm scared to take it fully apart. I'm sorry I can't be more of a help. Please let me know if you find out how to do it........

I take mine apart but the wrench that comes with it isn't up to the task. They used to sell ignition wrench sets at sears that have a lot of small sizes. Otherwise a 6mm open end wrench will do (I had to grind mine down a bit to make it thinner or a 1/4" ignition wrench fits perfectly. Really love the little gun in spite of it's lack of precision adjustments. A lot of these guns come over tightened & may even have sealant on the threads. Never had any trouble with it after complete disassembly, cleaning & reassembly. Got mine about 5 years ago.

Hi! This gun is a toy. You can`t wait much for it. These days, you may buy a good gun, and pay it little by little. Do not use your time for toys. : )

It's not a professional tool for sure, but it really works well for the small jobs I use it for. I only use it occasionally and I'm happy with it. Pros will probably want a professional gun! And thank you very much...….
