      To be fair, it's not really the cameramen's fault... for one, you really have to give the faults to the editing team. I may be wrong on this one though.

      The cameraman probably did great but the editor had Parkinson’s, ADD and an alcohol-tremor since 32 years and getting worse.
      Vengerov did great though 😂

    Playing: Absolute perfection
    Camera work: Way too close at times, out of focus and jumping from one frame to the next.
    Maxim Vengerov's performances deserve much better camera work.

    most satisfying part is around 5:24. you can just hear that D ring in the hall and then the colour just changes

    This is a far less pyrotechnic performance, but Vengerov's technique is as fine as it ever was and this performance is simply more mature than the legendary one from 20 years ago. I think I like it.

      Don't get me wrong, he is an amazing musician far ahead of myself.
      That being said, I noticed that this version is somewhat slower and has some small mistakes like accidently hitting a string. Still amazing but just is different

    Y'all talking about the cameraman... I'm just sitting here in bliss, listening to this fantastically hard piece, played with perfection by the most wonderful soloist. I hope to one day be able to play this piece a quarter as well as him.

      Gyles Meng not really, he did many mistakes here.. slipped notes etc... you need to watch Augustin Haedlich version much better...

    Wow! amazing, just beautifully played. in another version. how he feels the music is amazing - strong, but with a sort of Russian passion. i don’t know if he’s Russian or not, but it’s there. amazing phrasing - just beautifully played. my god one composition with four interpretations. holy cow! 🌷✨

      Wow good catch. Only Vengerov can miss a note and play that note at the same moment in time haha. You can literally see his finger miss the fingerboard then go back on ... and the melody still flows beautifully!

      since music is subjective you can't say that

    Splendid performance with disgusting video editing especially around 05:46 . Couldn't have been edited worse. it should be calm and smooth. it made me dizzy, not an action movie.

      “Even the videographers was in the spirit of the piece!” Because without the video, you wouldn’t be able to see anything, without the mic, you wouldn’t be able to hear anything. Everyone has their part to play.

      @@FrenHorn14 Terrible argument. Just because there is a video does not mean the low quality camera work is acceptable for such an exceptional performance. Just like because movies exist does not mean there are excuse to produce bad movies. Undermining the work of a great artist with bad camera work is nothing short of an insult to the artist himself.

      Calm and smooth?
      I can't find any other less accurate adjectives for that part.
      I would suggest, hectic, electric, epic, atrong and fast paced.
      The video editing depicts that specially.

    I have never seen such irritating camera editing in my life. You'd swear they were shooting a multi-cam assassination scene. This is how you do NOT pay attention to the music, and it's not Vengerov's fault.

    That was wonderful video work! It shows not only the violist is important, because without the video, you wouldn’t be able to see, without the mic, you wouldn’t be able to hear. Everyone was contributing their gift to the wonderful performance of this great master player!

    Great performance!!Actually I used to prefer Repin's performance than his specially when they're in young age by 20s, but now prefer to listen to Vengerov(depends on piece but mostly) rather than Repin, and I'm definitely sure that he is the best in the world.

    By far from his best, maybe he had a bad day, excellent tecnique as usual and musicianship but I notice that he was out of himself... I follow him very closely and this is not his real or best version.

    Camera movement and zooms are completely unnecessary add on (and dilution/ distraction / mutation) to music like this, when the performer is telling the entire story himself
