@@bettyir4302 I was so blessed to learn to cook that way from both of my Grandmas & my Momma! Now that they are all gone I appreciate the times I had to learn from them even more.

My grandma was ftom west tenn around belles tenn. She only went to 3 rd grade. My grandpa was from russelville: dardanelle Arkansas. He went to 8 th grsde. They owned a grocery store, and my grandma was a great cook. Her cherry pie filling was canned under the Thank You brand pie filling- my uncle worked for Michigan fruit canneries in Benton Harbor Michigan and he was a cook when they started their pie filling. She also cooked for President Truman when he came to Caruthersville Mo on a campaign stop and stayed with a federal judge there. My grandma was his housekeeper and cook. So she got to cook for President Truman. He offered her a job cooking in the White House as his personal chef. She refused because she was raising her family and they owned a grocery store in Caruthersville Missouri. But she was a fantastic cook. I always had a huge garden, so made all of her own clothes, and sold Avon. She did all of her route for Avon on foot. She did not drive a car. She was crown queen of Avon one year because she had the most sales in her district. She only had a third grade education, but she was so very smart. her mother was full blood Cherokee Indian and her father was full blood Irish. Her mothers maiden name was Dulin, and her uncle, her mother‘s brother, was the leader of the Dulin gang, who robbed banks.
My Great grandmother would go into the kitchen and make a full meal and I never knew how she could do that as it seemed like there wasn't a lot of food. She always had a meat, potatoes, beans and a salad plus a dessert. I loved her so very much and still miss her today at the old age of 76.

Grandmas are the best! The food, their stories just everything. It's always so touching to see how much family means to you both. I love your videos and appreciate the stories behind the recipes. This looks delicious and I will definitely be making it just as your Mammaw did ❤
I had one of those grandmother's also. She kept me out of trouble many times. I cried as you were talking. I felt the love. Thanks for sharing not only this recipe but all the other delicious dishes you and your wife share with us. Have a blessed day. ❤️
How about a recipe from Melissa's grandma? I agree that our grandmas were the best books ever. Mine made chicken and dumplings that were out of this world and I have never been able to figure out how she made it.
What a sweet walk down memory lane with you and your Mamaw’s recipe. I love the way you honored her and I’m sure she’s watching from the portals of Heaven and approves of you carrying on her life stories. You touched my heart and I’m thankful for all you and Melissa are doing. God bless and keep you both for His glory! ❤️🙏
I watch you everyday, though seldom comment. As a retired Kentucky Elementary teacher, I appreciate your teaching style! Macaroni salad is something I love, but have never made to my satisfaction. Something tells me this is the recipe that will change that. Thanks, Mamaw
One way to judge seasonings when learning from your grandma, is to put some parchment over the pot or bowl. Have grandma sprinkle the herb or spice the way she normally does, and then measure it.
You're one of my favorite channels on RUclips. I'm a fellow West Virginian, and I grew up eating the same kind of recipes that you share. I love that you get emotional over some of the recipes you make. I'm the same way when I prepare food that my grandma and mom taught me. Thank you for sharing your family's recipes and the stories behind them. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much for the sweet comment. We feel very blessed with a wonderful family and the love they shared and passed on to us. We really appreciate that you are watching our channel.
Lester Laminack's "Saturdays and Tea cakes" was my first encounter of someone agreeing with my families spelling of Mammaw. I was blessed to attend sessions lead by Lester at a reading and writing conference. 💖 I'm a Mammaw of two young boys. I love cooking with the oldest one. I introduced him to yeast bread a couple of weeks ago. I also use half salad dressing and half mayo in macaroni and potato salads. Mom always used chopped bread and butter pickles and a little pickle juice. I find the Aldi store brand bread and butter pickles taste close to Mom's home canned bread and butter pickles. 😋
Ohhhh hi, gosh, I'm first?? ...wow! ❤❤I love macaroni salad!! Can't wait for this one!!!!! Thank you both for all you do!! ❤❤Much love from East Tennessee ❤️ ❤ Ms. C
I made it in the evening and I wasn’t going to eat until the next night, so I didn’t put the Mayo combo until next night, but, it smelled so good,I ate it without the mayo.It was delicious. I couldn’t wait until I put the mayo in the next day. Go Cats
Hello Tom & Melissa- looks like a great recipe. Nothing like our grandmother’s also in my case mother as well was both great cooks & bakers. I often think of my grandmother she always made & canned Sandhill Plum Butter. When she opened a jar she would have it in a refrigerator glass dish with a glass lid. I am said that she passed in 1974 & nobody has her recipe for making the Sandhill plum butter. At meal time she would always set it on the table for us to put on our bread to have our meal. Then 10 days after she passed my grandfather passed with a broken heart . The doctor said nothing was wrong with him but a broken heart. Tom & Melissa - we were blessed to have wonderful grandparents. God Bless you both & we can continue to count our blessings. Thanks for continuing the wonderful recipes of your Meemaw. 🙏👏👏👏💕
They really had a special bond. This is one of Tom's favorite dishes she made. Thank so much for watching our channel. It's great to have you at the table with us.
I would love to have known my Grandparents. Both sets died when I was a young child . They would have been so loved and pampered. To have those special memories are priceless.
My moma and grandma were both excellent cooks. My grandma had osteoporosis really bad and was bent over for as long as I can remember. She never complained and was an absolutely gentle, wonderful soul. We would go over on Sunday afternoon after Church and eat dinner. Wonderful memories, thank you.
I love hearing about your family. I didn't spend a lot of time with my grandparents, but I was next to the youngest of 8 children so my mom was older, but she could cook like your talking about her. My mom grew up during the great depression and lived in West Virginia. She nearly starved. So when she grew up she loved food and fed everyone in the neighborhood. I loved her so much and miss her terribly. Thank you for sharing your food with us.
Thank you so much for this great recipe. We have a lot of Potluck dinners at church, so I can share this dish with them. I've been looking for a good Macaroni Salad recipe and there you were. Thank you for blessing me. I pray you have a wonderful Lord's Day. You can see our service online in Battle Creek MI.. it's Urbandale Baptist Church. Thanks again.
Tom, I had a great grandmother like your Mamaw. When we are at their house it was a feast! AND they grew ALL of the vegetables we ever ate there. Also they raised their own beef and chickens. Not sure whether they ever had pigs but not that I remember. They had two of the largest gardens I’ve ever seen. And we never left their house empty handed. She loaded us up with vegetables out of her gardens and lots of butter bowls!! Guess she had lots of those! I love her and Grandpa so much. They raised my Mama bc their daughter (my grandma) died young with breast cancer. Her husband dumped their three girls off at their grandparents home and took off to remarry and have two other children. But I truly love them an miss them very much. This recipe sounds delicious! Your Mamaw sounds like a wonderful woman! Especially a good Mamaw with lots of love!
Love your cooking channel! Really enjoy the stories you tell about your recipes. Your mammaw is probably watching from heaven with the biggest smile on her heavenly face and feeling such love that you honored her by sharing her recipes and remembering her with love!
My grandma was one of the smartest people I knew too ( she did go to the 8th grade and went on to become a seamstress) and was the best cook and baker bar none. I miss my grandma every day.
Love how humble Tom is. I cried with you sir. I was the most spoiled grandchild of all 8 grandkids. My birthday, they would send me $100 and the rest they would send 40 or 50. They told me. I always used it to help buy my school clothes. They were always proud of me because I didn't just buy junk or toys. Thank you both for the videos. Love them❤.
Your grandparents had a lot of trust in you. And you showed them that their trust wasn't misplaced. Grandparents have no idea how important they are in the lives of grandchildren. Thank you so much for watching our channel and joining us at the table.
My Grandma made the best pork chops and always had her macaroni salad and other sides along with them! I can almost smell her cooking now. So wonderful!! She passed away in 1966. Thanks for the memories!!
You brought a tear to my eye...missing my grandma. She lived 2 houses down from us, too. She definitely spoiled me. She made the best pies, and I learned to crimp the crust from her. Thank you forthe memories.
Isn't it neat how food can connect us to those great memories and have us sitting right back at their tables again! We are so happy to have you watching our channel. Thank you for being a part!
Neither of my grandmothers could cook(they both worked!). My grandpa was the cook on my mom's side, goodness, that man could cook and bake! On my dad's side, it was my great grandma. She was a little german woman, lived in Nebraska. I've NEVER been able to copy her recipes, believe me I've tried!!
A lottery of the older people would tell you it trial and error and they’re cooking. Usually taste the best for the experiment with your different ingredients. My mom, my aunt and my mom was Texas cooks and I believe they were one of the best of Texas cooks.❤love
We have been blessed with 30 years of marriage (in August). We are really enjoying creating this channel together. We appreciate that you are joining us at the table.
Thank you so much for sharing your loving grandma’s recipe. It was so touching to see the love and emotion you had for her. I wish I would have written down some of my grandma’s recipes. She was an awesome cook but we loved her special cookies. She would send them to us in old coffee cans once we moved to a different state. But she never had a written recipe. My mom , also a great cook, could never duplicate them. Neither could my aunt. I miss my grandma and her great cooking!
Tom's grandmother had very few written recipes. It's just the way that generation cooked. She had a real knack for knowing what a recipe needed and for knowing what combinations tasted good together. We are so glad that Tom watched her cooking enough to write down a few things she did to make the dishes we enjoyed so much.
This looks delicious! I learned the secret of using Miracle Whip and mayo by accident. My daughter was having a super bowl party and asked me if I would make potato salad to go with her BBQ. I didn’t have enough mayo so I had to use mayo and Miracle Whip. I dropped it off at her house because I wasn’t interested in staying for the party. She called me later and asked me for my recipe because she said everyone was asking her where she got it. 😂😂 From then on, I always used both when I make a creamy sauce. 😊
God Bless your grandma!!!! Back then all our grandmothers and grandfathers were cut from a different cloth!!!!!!
Every time you tear up, I do too!!!!! I can feel the emotion and it’s precious!! You’re one of the best on here! Keep the videos
coming!!!

Grandmas are the best!!! Thank you for sharing your grandma with us!❤
I love that you are talking about your Grandmother!❤
I love your channel.
You and your wife are like "Peas and Carrots" together, and everything that your Grandma would have wanted!
I miss my Mom so much.
She would have made her salad the same way with the exception of using Miracle Whip only.
Keep up the good work.
I know that our parents and grandparents are watching us from above.
They would bless every concoction that we create and give us a thumbs up!
Thank you for such a sweet comment. Your words have made us smile! Happy Easter!
I am sure your grandma was a fabulous cook. I will try this. Thank you for showing us how to make it.
Warms my heart hearing you honor your grandmother ❤
My grandmother was Cecilian. She’s been gone 47 years. My daughter was seven months old when I lost her she was besides my mother. She was the love of my life and I used to love to love when she would make her own pasta sauce in her own pasta and so good so good
Hola Tom & Melissa. I'm a Cheeseless Mexican. Go figure right?, lol. Soooo I'll have to omit the cheese. I love love macaroni salad & look forward to the final result. My beloved Mamà only had 8th grade education & she was smart as a whip. Her sense of science was incredible & ALL her tips were spot on. Bless her & May she rest in peace. Now to watch your vid. Hugs galore! Paz be with us all 🙏. "Sra Isa"
My grandmother was my best friend
I really like how you lay everything out and how much you need in front of ingredients you’re gonna use that’s awesome.
We try hard to present a clear and easy to follow recipe. We appreciate that you find it helpful and have let us know. Have a wonderful Easter weekend.
During fish fry's for friends and family. He'd fry crunchy thin sliced potatoes, batter fried eggplant and squash. I miss my dad. My nannies cooked good. My mom passed when I was about 2 years old. He was a wonderful dad. I'm thankful for many wonderful memories.
❤
How wonderful!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful family memories!
I'm the end of a bunch of kids, therefore, grandparents on both sides had already passed away by the time I came around. I love to see when others have had great relationships w/theirs. 😊
I'm truly sorry that you missed out on the blessing of having grandparents. I hope you are or get to be one someday and can give that blessing to grandchildren of your own. You "get" how important that relationship is. Thank you so much for watching our channel.
Hey y’all 🙋🏻, Tom your mamaw’s macaroni salad looks delicious and I’ll be making it soon because I love macaroni snd potato salad both ! Tom you said you wish your mamaw knew y’all had a channel , well sweetie she does know snd so do your parents and all your loved ones who have passed ! Like the Bible tells us the soul never dies , if it did we couldn’t go to heaven and live with our father God and Jesus in the mansion he promised us was waiting for us ! Yes she knows and she’s very proud that you honored her and her macaroni salad today ! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
It was very touching to see & feel your loving affection for your grandmother! You are a wonderful grandson! I love watching your shows & how much you love to cook! Lots of love to you, your wife & everyone❣️🥰
Food can bring back wonderful memories. I am so glad you shared this memory (and recipe!!) with us.
I'm sure Maw Maw is with you every time you cook!! Thanks for blessing us with all your recipes!!❤
Grandmas are the best! The food, their stories just everything. It's always so touching to see how much family means to you both. I love your videos and appreciate the stories behind the recipes. This looks delicious and I will definitely be making it just as your Mammaw did ❤
You are truly a great person. Always remembering your relationship with your family. 😊
I love hearing you speak so highly about your family.
I watch you everyday, though seldom comment. As a retired Kentucky Elementary teacher, I appreciate your teaching style! Macaroni salad is something I love, but have never made to my satisfaction. Something tells me this is the recipe that will change that. Thanks, Mamaw
I’m glad you had such a wonderful grandmother
One way to judge seasonings when learning from your grandma, is to put some parchment over the pot or bowl. Have grandma sprinkle the herb or spice the way she normally does, and then measure it.
GREAT SHARE!❤😊
Great idea! Thank you!
I'm a Mammaw of two young boys. 😋
The love you have for your grandmother is truly obvious!
She was a great lady and she loved, and spoiled, our entire family.
Ohhhh hi, gosh, I'm first?? ...wow!
❤❤I love macaroni salad!! Can't wait for this one!!!!! Thank you both for all you do!! ❤❤Much love from East Tennessee ❤️ ❤
Ms.
Wouldn't it be amazing if Tom and Melissa had the (same) recipe for sandhill plum butter from one of their Grandparents?
Tom, I could feel the love you had for your Mema. I'm sure she is looking down from heaven and is saying she loves you too. 🙏
They really had a special bond. This is one of Tom's favorite dishes she made. Thank so much for watching our channel. It's great to have you at the table with us.
@@comesitatmytable9044 very welcome, my wife and I love your videos and watch every one ♥️
Thank you!!! For sharing the recipe and helping me remember good memories.❤
And we all know your lovely grandma would be so proud of you and your channel 💖💖💖
I would love to have known my Grandparents. Both sets died when I was a young child . They would have been so loved and pampered. To have those special memories are priceless.
Great video. I saw you in the Mt. sterling advocate this week. I will watch more for sure as I am all about supporting anyone from Montgomery County!
It looks delicious
👍
I can’t talk about my wonderful grandma without tears either!
Made this Recipe and it's.. Delicious! 💯
Great recipe from your dear grandmother.
Thank you so much! It really is a great recipe. And the truth is, she spoiled us all!
She had skills that so many people today do not. We miss them but aren't we thankful we had them in our lives!
Enjoy watching you make asst'd foods.
Thank you so much. We try hard to include a variety of food on our channel with different levels of complexity as well.
Mammaw had it right with mixing mayo and Miracle Whip! i tried it and it was great thanks for sharing.
My mouth is watering 😊❤ tyvm for this simple delicious mac salad- my favorite 😍
Love watching your videos. ❤
Happy New year to you all. God is good.❤😊
A lottery of the older people would tell you it trial and error and they’re cooking. Usually taste the best for the experiment with your different ingredients. My mom, my aunt and my mom was Texas cooks and I believe they were one of the best of Texas cooks.❤love
Y’all are so cute and loving towards each other, I just love watching y’all!
