Tony is another goat, great choice for the show. One of my fondest memories as a kid was meeting him in 97 at a little expo/demo he did in Cincinnati. My dad took me, he never took me ANYWHERE. I watched him skate for a couple hours (there were quite a few other skaters there too of coarse) and then I waited in line for 30-45 minutes while he took pictures and did autographs. I had this big speech in my head and I was going to tell him how much I loved watching him skate and how much he influenced me, and I was going to invite him to my house to eat a home cooked meal because I knew he had been on the road for a while and when it became my turn I said”ugh ugh c-c-c-could you please sign my hat?” That was it. Have not been more excited to see an episode since the Tom Hanks epic meal dropped.

Okay, so I don’t know if Mythical Kitchen reads comments all that much. But for these last meal episodes I think them showing clips of the people they interview almost as “flashbacks” would be so awesome. Like when he is talking about moments like the trick he pulled off or whatever. If there was a flashback to that whether it be a recording or photo. I would love to see it!
There might be an issue regarding copy right on that though y'know? Like I'm sure they were able to get that footage from Hawk himself cause he's just got a library of all of his stuff like that that he owns but people like Terry Crews his stuff is probably owned but a larger company that would absolutely slam the copyright button on the MK crew
That won't go well with this format at all, a documentary style interview maybe, but this show is all about the good moment with foods while talking about life. I wouldn't trade the exclusive footage of them eating/talking and emotions that you can see on their face with something that already exist on the internet.
@@tkthefirst298 I get that, but I was thinking since this has to do with “last meals” aka death, if they did just a couple small flash backs to photos or a small snippet of what they are talking about kinda like how they say life flashes before your eyes. with the way Josh interviews, I fully believe he'd be able to get Kendrick on here one day. Kdot loves when interviewers research ahead of time so that there can be a meaningful discussion; he likes the DEEP conversations, not just generic Q&A's, and I full believe that Josh can pull it off. The interviewing skills always amaze me.
Josh has become one of my most favorite interviewers that's out there. And as someone who is 51 and grew up during the height of the second wave of skating to my life now, Tony Hawk is incomparable.
Tony might actually be the coolest person alive. So well spoken, so humble, funny, talented, generous, and sincere. An incredible role model for multiple generations.
I teared up when Tony described the skating environment within the skate park and Olympics...everyone cheering each other. This sport has come so far. What he endured at such a young age and to still be at the top is a testament to his mental health. My love for his commitment to not only the sport but the commitment to enjoying something that someone loves has to be a lesson. So glad that Josh had Tony on. This interview is my favorite. Tony Hawk is a legend. Icon. Tony Hawk will always be an American staple.
Tony hawk is such a legend and so humble. He’s a natural introvert and that shines through but you can tell through his answers how he truly is, he cares about people and his family and the importance of talent justified. He’s literally a god and founder of modern skateboarding and all he wants is to see that live on, he doesn’t want to be known as just some famous guy, he wants to be remembered and be an influence to the people that matter in his element and wants the next generation to thrive and shine and take on the mantle and push the envelope to the next big thing, and that’s the workings of a true genius. Legends never die and Tony Hawk will always be a legend.
Given all the Mythical to Dropout crossover, I would not be surprised if it happened. That being said, if such an interview doesn't start with "Sam, where are you from[?]" then I will be in the comments.
Met Tony Hawk and a bunch of other legends back at X Games 2011 (sometime around there) and what i remember was just how well loved he was and how kind he was. So glad i have that X Games board with his signature and a few others. Also, they got their own Brisket Carver for this episode? Just amazing lol
I was 11 yrs old at my friends house when they ordered Pizza Hut and on top of the pizza was a playstaion demo for Tony Hawk Pro Skater. We ate and then played the demo until at least midnight trying to beat each others scores. Times I'll never forget.
THE skater boy?? looking forward to this! just watched your Terry Crews one yesterday and loved it! (would love to see Gerard Way or Hayley Williams (or artists in that realm if that could ever happen ;; )
Binged 4 of these today. First time watcher. Certain guests have amazing taste in last meals. What is the most impressive is the quality and attention to detail of the staff cooking the meals. You can see it is hot. You can often see it was made from scratch using techniques and recipes that make it taste amazing. I watch partly for the amazing interview skills and partly because the cooking out shines any cooking show you see on cable TV. Great job team.
This episode of Last Meals is 2 of the most important things in my life crashing together. I grew up in the 80s skating and looking up to guys like Tony and my life now is consumed by cooking and food. This is literally the interview I never knew I needed to see. Amazing.
I remember seeing him at the When We Were Young fest and he gave me a fist bump after he just biffed it on the ramp. It was literally the best part of my day that day, not even all the bands I saw. This man is a living legend.
So good to see someone mention Rodney Mullen to Tony in their video. While Tony is the huge face of Skateboarding you always gotta pay respect to Mullen
Josh really deserves as much praise as anyone else for being a superb interviewer. Because part of it is the research to ask the questions, but also being human and present enough to allow people who most times, are meeting him for the first time, to be as open and vulnerable is a skill that is, I daresay, not trainable.
I don't skate much but playing tony hawk as a kid made me fall in love with world design (making custom skate parks in-game) and set the foundation for my love of 3D modeling and game design that I now do professionally. Great game, great dude, great skater.
Tony Hawk has the most pleasant voice. I only ever played Pong and Pac-Man but he had a video game that somehow I was able to really rock. That's when I had coordination. He was a positive role model for my little brother. We had plenty to do in the 70s. Plenty.
His "adding certainty" by having his wife with him is very similar to my reasoning behind tossing my kids high in the air: I tell my wife, "There is a zero percent chance that I fail to catch them, because if there's any chance that I fail, I will; therefore, I've determined that there is not."
Dude. The first thing being The Barbeque Pit is WILD. Tony is the man and so nice. That is a deep cut for San Diego and an absolute staple for me. I love it and am so stoked to see this episode.
I have so much respect and genuine envy at this point for Josh. Such an excellent interviewer and truly enjoys every single one of these. Dude is just L I V I N man, and I dig it.
Thank you, Tony. For all you've done. I wasn't in skater culture as a kid but me and my friends would sneak into their older siblings rooms to play your games, laugh, have fun. Nothing but mad respect and adoration for everything you did for multiple generations
I love that Josh does his research and makes each interview a unique experience for each celebrity. He makes them all feel comfortable and brings out a vulnerable side of them
Fantastic interview.... Tony Hawk is an icon to sport ...Josh is developing in to one of the finest interviewers I've seen (and I'm 61). Kudos and thanks from an ex-skater.
As a child of a very supportive father, who maybe didn't teach me the deeper lessons or emotional security, I am astonished at how well Tony has turned his life into a something so incredible. I haven't exactly made that turn for myself, and still love my father, but seeing someone who has struggled with their own actuality and emotions without having it built up is so inspirational. Everyone deserves that strength.
Tony’s thoughts on “what do you think happens when you die” is exactly what happened when a family member of mine passed a little over a year ago. The community, friends, family, and even strangers, are all rallying together to build a skatepark in his honor since it was his favorite thing to do. And his life philosophy is the slogan for the campaign, so we can all remember to live like he did ❤
Tony Hawk is such an inspiration to me, a 45 yr old skateboarder, skating since the early 90’s. Birdhouse’s Feasters was my first skate video. Thanks for shaping my life.
I live 3 blocks from The Barbecue Pit, it’s a staple of our community and is some damn good food! Great ownership and staff too. I go there at least once a month. Also Tony is repping San Diego like a champ!

masterful move, or serendipitous happenstance, that Josh mentions Tony's 25th anniversary at 25 minutes into the video.
with the way Josh interviews, I fully believe he'd be able to get Kendrick on here one day. Kdot loves when interviewers research ahead of time so that there can be a meaningful discussion; he likes the DEEP conversations, not just generic Q&A's, and I full believe that Josh can pull it off. The interviewing skills always amaze me.
i live in vegas and robertos rolled tacos are a staple for me, as well as carne asada fries, and california burritos.
I moved away from Vegas a while ago and I miss Roberto’s so muuuuuch 😢
A California burrito is in my last meal for sure 🌯
Oh man i miss robertos
he's just like us fr 😭
7:18 you might say Tony is an elder SKATESMAN. I’ll see myself out
Josh has become one of my most favorite interviewers that's out there. And as someone who is 51 and grew up during the height of the second wave of skating to my life now, Tony Hawk is incomparable.
Tony might actually be the coolest person alive. So well spoken, so humble, funny, talented, generous, and sincere. An incredible role model for multiple generations.
Tony Hawk, biggest skateboarding legend, a true BEAST!
one thing that separates this interview from many others is how deep an emotional level that Josh brings the guests. I truly enjoy it.
This was a good pull! Two great Last Meals this week.
I wasn't expecting a Skate or Die or California Games references, but now my day is better because of it.
Id love to see Sam Reich!!
Given all the Mythical to Dropout crossover, I would not be surprised if it happened. That being said, if such an interview doesn't start with "Sam, where are you from[?]" then I will be in the comments.
A Sam Reich last meal would be god tier. Would love to see a Brennan Lee Mulligan one too.
The unhinged energy of Sam/Josh or Brennan/Josh would fuel me for the next 40 years
i would be so excited for a sam or brennan interview
The back to back of Terry and Tony has filled me with such hope and inspiration for humanity its crazy
Tony dropping the tea on a possible game in the works is SIIIICKKKKK
Back to back whaaaat?!
GERARD WAY omf I would die of happiness
@@missvanity6371 RIGHT? the interview theme format of last meals would be perfect too cause so much of what they create revolves around similar themes
Two in one week!!??
Thank you guys so much.
1:36 I love how he laughs so genuinely at his own joke because he doesn't remember it. Classic
It was probably pretty hawkward but thank you for asking about neurodivergence, I had been curious about that for a long time.
Rodney Mullen is like the Carl Jung of skateboarding
Josh really deserves as much praise as anyone else for being a superb interviewer. Because part of it is the research to ask the questions, but also being human and present enough to allow people who most times, are meeting him for the first time, to be as open and vulnerable is a skill that is, I daresay, not trainable.
Mythical kitchen is popping off this week!! Two incredible installments into this great show. Great work
I don't skate much but playing tony hawk as a kid made me fall in love with world design (making custom skate parks in-game) and set the foundation for my love of 3D modeling and game design that I now do professionally.
Great game, great dude, great skater.
Tony Hawk has the most pleasant voice. I only ever played Pong and Pac-Man but he had a video game that somehow I was able to really rock. That's when I had coordination. He was a positive role model for my little brother. We had plenty to do in the 70s. Plenty.
Lol Tonys last words on the video being do a kickflip was perfect, Last Meals just keeps getting better!
His "adding certainty" by having his wife with him is very similar to my reasoning behind tossing my kids high in the air: I tell my wife, "There is a zero percent chance that I fail to catch them, because if there's any chance that I fail, I will; therefore, I've determined that there is not."
This series needs to stay as it is, not touched by any huge tv series. but keep it as natural as this. This is a pure interviews ❤
This segment of mythical kitchen is second to none.
Gotta say, tony being more scared of not doing right by his wife rather than actual physical injury is so real of him tbh
You're doing awesome Josh.
Thank you, Tony. For all you've done. I wasn't in skater culture as a kid but me and my friends would sneak into their older siblings rooms to play your games, laugh, have fun. Nothing but mad respect and adoration for everything you did for multiple generations
He says it's his last meal but knowing Tony he'd just come back and eat it switch stance too
I love that Josh does his research and makes each interview a unique experience for each celebrity. He makes them all feel comfortable and brings out a vulnerable side of them
josh hair gets sillier every episode lol i love it
Tony is so humble. I still have my copy of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater and I love it
Terry Crews and Tony Hawk back to back?, damn.
Fantastic interview.... Tony Hawk is an icon to sport ...Josh is developing in to one of the finest interviewers I've seen (and I'm 61).
Kudos and thanks from an ex-skater.
I freaking love Tony. We need to protect this treasure of a human being
Incredible, as always. Well done to both Josh and Tony.
Damn terry now tony! Josh killing it
As a child of a very supportive father, who maybe didn't teach me the deeper lessons or emotional security, I am astonished at how well Tony has turned his life into a something so incredible.
And his life philosophy is the slogan for the campaign, so we can all remember to live like he did ❤
I am officially never going to be surprised about the caliber of guests….I love this show so much
Damn. They got Logan Sandoval on set?? That dude was on American BBQ Showdown and did awesome. Glad he's got his own place and is kicking ass!
Tony Hawk is such an inspiration to me, a 45 yr old skateboarder, skating since the early 90’s. Birdhouse’s Feasters was my first skate video. Thanks for shaping my life.
Favourite food show on the internet! Doesn't get realer than death
“If I can stand on a board and move, That’s skating to me.”
Legend.
The true Essence, Heart and Soul of skating 💯♥️
Tony Hawk rolling his eyes at me would MAKE MY LIFE
He is such an awesome guy, so humble, we love you Tony, skate on.
I live 3 blocks from The Barbecue Pit, it’s a staple of our community and is some damn good food! Great ownership and staff too. I go there at least once a month.
Also Tony is repping San Diego like a champ!
