From what I’ve seen of the comic (trying to find a store with a few copies), it really feels like the story when you daydreamed about it as a kid. He basically configured it in that way to reflect his childhood and how he remembered the story. Yea, some story beats are the same. Buuut, he’s doing something different that feels new if you look more into it.

It's fine. But I wish it was something I hadn't read or seen in Transformers at least twenty other different times before. DWJ's art is what makes it stand out, but he's just more tactfully and stylishly doing what Dreamwave did twenty years ago... make G1 but "edgy".

For me, im just tired of all the G1, I’d really like to see RID2001, the UT, or Animated get some love give them new continuities. Im sure the new comics by skybound are amazing but i just want to see other continuities get new stories.
