  • It was recently confirmed that the rumored licensing deal between Hasbro and Skybound (an imprint of Image comics) was real, but it all happened suddenly and far sooner than anyone expected. The future of Transformers comics begins here, in Void Rivals #1, the opening story in a new shared universe housing the creations of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo de Felici alongside Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe properties. I'm doing something a little different today, with a much less scripted/edited video. As well as offering my first impressions, I consider what could be in store for Transformers comics as well as my thoughts on how things are shaping up so far.

    If you haven't ready anything by Daniel Warren Johnson and want to do so, check out some of his creator-owned series on Image, like Extremity (highly recommended), Do A Powerbomb, and Murder Falcon.

    Jetfire's look reminded me of the siege commander class version of the character and liked the rendition was used in this comics. I am eager for the new comic series coming out latter this year

    The whole "we must survive together in this alien planet" thing did not last long enough to me tbh. I tought they are gonna be there for a couple of years like in the movie Enemy of mine.

      It could have been cool to stretch that part of it out, yeah.

    @8:00 Based on that line of thought, modern Transformers comics should feature brand new characters with brand new stories. Instead of relying upon G1 nostalgia…. Again.

      That's a fair point. I see a kind of freedom in creators not being beholden to promoting the most recent developments in the toyline when telling a story - which I still hold is true - but that is admittedly a low bar to clear that doesn't take into account the restrictions and limitations of chasing G1 nostalgia. Appreciate the comment!

    I AM EXCITED TO COLLECT A NEW TRANSFORMERS SERIES.THE LAST TIME I COLLECTED WAS THE MARVEL SERIES.I DID NOT GO FOR IDW. I WANT TO SEE A RENAISSANCE SERIES THIS TIME. I WANT ROBERT KIRKMAN TO MAKE A TRANFORMERS WALKING DEAD -LIKE SERIES. TO MAKE THIS SERIES SUPERIOR TO MARVEL'S---- BUT MAKE IT LIKE THE WALKING DEAD.CAN IT BE DONE? TRANSFORMERS BLENDED INTO A WALKING DEAD LIKE STORY ----AND CAN THE SERIES MAKE IT TO 50 + ISSUES? ANYONE WHO IS OUT OF THE MARVEL SERIES CAN COLLECT THIS ONE TO REPLACE THE MARVEL SERIES.

      @@Moonbase3 you dont like Hasbro why ? Transformers in here like Godzilla Toho

    • @Moonbase3
      @Moonbase3  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh, I like Hasbro. Didn't mean to imply otherwise. Obviously I'm deeply smitten with Transformers. But if we're talking about Hasbro and their films? I'm okay with them, but I definitely have a preference for Toho for their broader cultural and historical significance. Some of Paramount's non-transformers output is up there pretty close to Toho in that regard for me. Like I said, a tough decision, at least between those two.
