- This is just a tier list of the different Final Fantasy games that I have played. If you guys want to talk about your favorite games or characters in each game feel free to chat away!

Most of these are pretty close to where I would probably put them. But I have to say, seeing 5 that low did hurt my heart a bit
If I play through it on PR sometime soon maybe it'll remind me of the game more and change my mind? Hard to say for sure.
@shanezell Maybe. Could also just be not your thing. And that's okay too. I think it's worth revisiting. I didn't like it the first two times I tried playing it (SNES version). Then I gave it one more chance on GBA, and then it clicked. PR is great as well.

I love that game so much too.
FFIV and it's sequel are my favorites, but i gotta agree they are a tad too easy.
Fun list, I have a couple difference compared to yours as a short on my channel, but I think I agree with the idea of what you thought for each one
FF11 WAS so good. I did not really get into it when it first came out but I played it again a few years later (a old school 75 p server) and I loved it so much. I kinda wish when I was a teen getting into it more but I was playing other games with my friends and they did not want to get FF11 :(
@@EricN73158 I played FFXI for years and loved it. Sadly most of my friends moved on to play WoW so I ended up going there too. WoW wasn't bad but it wasn't even close to the same.
Tier lists are definitely good for starting fires in the comments. Something about them makes people forget what an opinion is.
Anyway, thanks for sharing! I've unfortunately not played over half of the numbered entries, but my ranking from best to worst would probably be 4, 10, 8, 9, 7, 1. I've also played 14 and enjoyed it, but with it being an MMO I personally can't really compare it to the others.

3:07 ouch, that one hurt. Nervous about where you place FFXII. I agree with every other game thus far though.

10:03 😒 and there it goes, you even tried to demote it even further lol. 😩 oh that did hurt. I would have swapped FFXII with FFXIII but to each his own. I liked the geopolitics of the game. It was like XI but offline. But the gambit system criticism is legit though.
I think if I replay the game on the Zodiac Age I may like it better. I haven't touched the game since it was first released.

Don't ask me about which Instalments I would put between #5-#13. It changes every day.
The Top 4 and Bottom 4 are set in Stone though (unless something else dethrones them).
I am only ranking Main Instalments, no Side Games (X-2, XIII-2, SOP:FFO, Vagrant Story, etc), and no Spinoffs (Brave Exvius, Theatrythm, Explorers, Crystal Chronicles, etc).
Exception is XIV, because 1.0 is the actual XIV, but ARR is kind of also the actual XIV.
PS: I love all Instalments. XIII for example is a Masterpiece to me.
Was super surprised to see xiii at the top of S tier. LIke, everyone i talk to either didn't finish it or just hate the direction it went so much they wont even give it a chance. Maybe its just cos its my first final fantasy i played as a kid but i wouldn't move it :3 VI on the other hand XD I didn't really care for it tbh. I did stop playing it for a year or something like that once i reached the painful magic tower place so maybe id have to do a proper play through at some point
I like your list. Some of your entries are surprising! Usually people detest 13 and love 13-2, love to see you have the opposite going on lol. I do agree that 4 and 7 are a bit overrated. i personally would also offer the hot take that 6 is a bit overrated to me, as well (but I didn't play it in my youth, played it much later in life).

@@redcloud16 I would have enjoyed FFXIV more if you weren't forced rush through the story to do content with your friends. Why force people to do the story to progress? Make it solo story that you can do at your own pace if the story is going to be good and worthwhile to play though.

FF1 an A! I am so old my social insurance is 4. Anyway I agree! It’s the only thing I play med for like 5 years when I was a lad!
Regarding FFII, I found it a muuuuch better experience with the Pixel Remaster release over GBA/older releases. I turn HP Boost off because it seems to more inflate your health visibly than it does effectively. The stamina increase itself, compared to having more HP at a low stamina, seems to do a lot in my playthroughs so far. It feels at least more balanced with the Boost off to me. I’d welcome opinions.
Pretty close to my ratings. Curious why FF5 was placed below FF3. Nearly everything you say you liked in 3 is better in 5. You mentioned you need to play again; maybe it's just a lack of strong impression that landed it in C?
FF7 was overrated honestly. You didnt include Strangers of Paradise and the amazing dialogue of screaming “chaos!” And grunting
SoP was a great game, but it wasn't the same people that made the other FF games, Kinda hard to put it in the same place. You have to look at it from a different angle honestly.

YOU HAVE TO PLAY TACTICS
I have played Tactics, it wasn't on the list of "Main" line FF titles...if I did have to put it on the list I would say before FFIV. I used to love it a lot...but the last time I played it I was getting so annoyed by everyone breaking my gear and me being WAY too under leveled for everything.
FF1, 7, and 16 are the only FF games I've played, but FF16 was definitely my favorite of the three, even if it's more of a story/action game than a turn-based strategy game like FF1 and FF7. But for replayability, FF1 is the best.
If you'd ever tolerate another pass at ff4, the DS version is way different and significantly harder, actually one of the most difficult FF games.
Totally agree about VII being overrated, but I think VI is pretty overrated too. I really disliked the leveling system and I thought the high amount of characters and plot lines was neat but it kinda undermined the coherence of the story. It didn't hit me emotionally the way more focused stories did like IX, X, or even to some extent VII and IV.
FF12 is amazing

@@shanezell it's a much better version of the game... highly recommend it! Also, there's a few prominent mods floating around which fix some of the issues

@@mathieudoucet1446 I mean something different for me lol, I mostly just do Speedruns and that's about it.
My top three are Tactics, 5 and 1(If tactics is considered a spin-off and you only count numbered games, then 10 is after 1, great story and it still makes me cry). I love jpb systems. 3 pixel remaster made me actually like the game it's 5th I suppose. The 3d version is just mid. I think my bottom 3 are OG 14, 11 and 15. I don't like MMOs and I agree with you on 15, Didn't get the combat and I enjoy action RPGs but it was just too different.
FF14 1.0 deserve more love, sure server was crappy, lack of auction house was BS, but the game had some really great idea. Caracter level and job level was good concept, not EVERY 'warrior lvl25' where the same things. Skill equiped on cross class gave some varity too. Mixing 2 basic job for for unlock the advance quest was a great idea too, way better than go to XX level with anything, do a fetch quest and bingo final job unlock. In my mind FF14 1.0 is the perfect exemple of a good game poorly executed.
@@jackstrap5541 the same thing could be said about FF2, it was a great idea... But the final project wasn't at good as the idea.

My first one was IV. I agree that VII is a bit overrated, good game anyway. XV was disappointing, so was Crisis Core. To me, XII is a good JRPG but a bad Final Fantasy. I like V but the job system is not my thing. VII Remake had it's moments but was awful. X had the perfect ending, the sequel ruins it. I agree that II has some flaws and it's mechanics are not that great but it's history, characters, villain, moments, to me, are better than 1, 3 or 5.
I dont wanna be THAT person but 7 and 8 are criminally way too low.

I'm sorry if this comes across as being a jerk (it probably will.).
So... when is the punchline? FFXIII at the top of the list? That has to be a joke. For the most part I have no issue with preference, but FFXIII being anywhere but F tier is utter nonsense. I mean, it was a pretty game, but other than that, the game was hot garbage. Awful characters, stupid "development", retarded story, and easily the worst mechanics of any mainline FF game.

@@mathieudoucet1446 Everyone has opinions, it doesn't make them right. Recency also plays part of it, I personally haven't ever replayed FFXII and I haven't played V in over 20 years.
