Do you know how to turn off the daytime running lights on Golf MK5? I want my lights to be off when the switch is in off position or 0 like it says on the switch. Is it possible to do the same thing on the Golf MK5 as it is on the MK4 to just bend a contact on the backside of the switch?

You need Carista app...then you can adjust side light brightness. If you want them off then adjust brightness to 0%.....with mk5 the drls are either on or off.

@@whatsdavedone104 Ok thanks, but how do i connect the app to a car from 2004? The lights i want to turn off are the normal driving lights with high and low beam. And i only want them to be turned on in on position on the switch.

Strange rule, which country?....isn't that what drls are for?....yes you could put the sensor in fusebox or just put it behind the switch

@@whatsdavedone104 I live in Czechia. Also sure, but my Golf doesn't have any DRL's, so I just have to have the regular lights turned on. I actually figured out a few days ago, that if you leave the light switch on and leave the car, they actually turn off by themselves after a bit so they don't drain the battery. I remember I had to shut them off every time on my older mk4, otherwise it'd drain the battery..

@@whatsdavedone104 ah yea thats worked. A lot ive seen on ebay doesnt show the wire so guessing not unless its in the images. Ive seen some on aliexpress which are really cheap too 😮

I love aliexpress...most of my mods are from aliexpress....just the delivery time of 15 days😢 to be honest the one I linked is probably being resold by someone who purchased a job lot off aliexpress

When left in auto position they should come on when unlocked, if its dark enough.
If its light and you cover the light sensor are the lights coming on automatically🤔 the only thing I can think of is a faulty light sensor 🤷‍♂️

Auto lights come ok at night don't think it's faulty. I plugged in obd scan no faults showing

Are you running factory auto lights or aftermarket like in the video? If running factory auto lights go into your MFD, then lights & vision then select leaving home or coming home and check that they are switched on

Factory auto lights, and enabled on mfd. Like I say it was working I think until I disconnected battery when i installed the eonon system you recommended

Didn't need to disconnect the battery to change the unit...do you have auto stop start function on your car? When the battery is disconnect/gone flat or changed the battery has to be recoded to the car....not recoding the battery can cause little issues like stop/start not working or welcome lights not working.....how are you finding the unit, all good I hope?

Cheers....yes it works on both mk5 and mk6....simple plug and play...you need to check your switch plug before purchasing the auto light switch as some mk5's have a large plug and some have small plug
