- I ordered this aftermarket Automatic Headlight switch from Aliexpress. It came with instructions in Chinese, but with the help of Google Translate, I was able to decipher how to use it. Hopefully this video will make setup just a little bit easier for you.

This was one of the most detailed and best instruction videos I've seen. Thank you!
WOW! None of this is explained in the owners manual. I just acquired a 2013 VW Eos and was having issues with the AUTO feature. Thank you very much Sir! Merry Christmas!
Man I have been trying to figure this out for forever, could never figure out those included Chinese instructions in the manual. I would accidentally turn the headlight knob and hear beeps, I was like what the hell did I change now 😂Thank you so much.
I was trying to figure this out all day. Thank you so much. For the record, I own a Jetta 2013 and installed an aftermarket Auto Light Sensor and this video fixed my issue. Currently in a state where there’s limited sunlight and the headlights we’re stuck on ON. Flipped it from Auto to ON really fast as shown in the video and fixed my issue!
Yeees! Was just looking for this. Couln’t found it anywhere else!!! Tanks a looot!
Just got mine today.great in depth video!💯💪🏾
Thank you for the video brother! Couldn’t figure out why my lights weren’t coming on when the dash lights went dark lol
Thank you man you been a great help mines came in the mail today it didn't take me 2 minutes to install
Sir you are a lifesaver. I have had my auto light switch for 4 years and been so annoyed with how bad it detects light. Thank you!
If anyone was curious, I bought this kit but I also bought a factory switch that didn’t include rear fogs (since my car doesn’t have rear fogs) and it still works just fine.
Thank you for the good material. I sat a bit on the switch and I know how to fix your problem. To activate the Coming living home options, switch with quick movements AUTO -> daylight -> AUTO -> daylight -> AUTO and listen to the sound from the switch, then wait, among other things. 15 seconds (lead time to home) and switch to -> daylight. also to the signal from the switch. In this case, homecoming is enabled. To disable this option, go to AUTO -> Daylight and wait 5 seconds. Then this option is disabled.
Hi, did you do this with the ignition or not? And that was just to activate to CH/LH, then you need to set the time right?
Did u do this with ignition on or off
@@vilux2205 with the ignition OFF
Hello mate can you assist me on this I just brought the sensor hahah quite late but my coming home or leaving home are not working
Nevertheless the sensor is working indeed good and responding well
Thank you
Awesome !! Couldn't figure out how to set the damn thing with the chinese manual ... Great !!
@T-DUB Thanks for sharing this I have recently bought this switch and knew I would need a guide to get it working how I want it. 🤙
@T-DUB to calibrate the switch for Leaving Home: AUTO > Low beam > AUTO > Time to wait for how long it should be illuminated > Low beam > AUTO
Coming Home: Was already learned...
Thanks man!
After calibrated, can I make it stay that way permanently? Cause when I switch quickly between options, it will beep again to calibrate that.
Thank you man
Awesome thank you
for coming home i guess you have to open the driver door. Btw, do you know how to turn on the low beam for coming home? Mine only works with the patking lights
If i setup the pozition light on full day to say open i will have them always open?
I can't seem to get mine working. It's with the 3 integrated light sensors on the switch itself. I don't have any beep thing. Any ideas how i can get it working ?
P.S. I mean the auto is working i can't get any setup to adjust the modes of it.
thanks man !!!!
When you leave it on Auto mode and open the door, does the alarm go off that tells you the lights are still on?
@travis wright how did you remove the DRL from the 2017 Jetta?
Can anyone help please? When I place the switch in the "off" position the lights remain on regardless if it's night or day, basically when the key is in the ignition (these are the lights nearest the VW badge that turn on). This happens on the auto position also. Help....
I ordered a similar part to this but for some reason my fog lights aren’t working! Have you any ideas?
I just got an auto headlight kit like this and the auto feature never turns the interior lights on. Headlights seem to always be on, and interior lights are off. All the time. Do i have a bad light sensor?
Thank you for this manual man. However, even after having followed your instructions I cannot get some things to work.
My lights definitely turn on too late from DRLs. I did switch from auto -> headlight -> auto during the amount of light that I'd like them to switch, but that doesn't work at all...Tried that like a million times
How long does it take for the lights to turn on when you start the car. Is it instant or is there a delay? I currently have a different sensor than in this video fitted and there is a delay of up to 10 seconds before they turn on.
Is this sensor compatible for vw Touareg 2004 year ?
Hello I just received the switch, I'm not sure how to set the coming/leaving home, can you explain to me? The position only works for me when I unlock and lock the car, but the low beams don't work
hello I'm from Egypt and I`m using same key thank you for the that info 🤝
To calibrate "coming home/leaving home" on mine, I had to pass from "auto" to "position lights"/"headlights" repeatedly (3 times) until it beeps). But you will need to keep on "auto" for the time lapse to start counting and then move to "position lights"/"headlights" to "save the time", also if you go to "off" position after the beep, you will cancel "coming home/leaving home"
I'm going to try this!
Hi, so for headlights to come on in tunnel ,I have to go to off from auto and back to auto, when it's beeps twice is that mean it's on for tunnel??
Hey can I change option on coming/leaving home from small light to headlight? On my car when I lock car it turn on small light not headlight. Thanks
@@MadnessWeld have you figured out how to switch it to headlights?
@@siddking3129 No, it's can't be changed. It's something about car line and modul on switch. I think on highline, comfortline and trend line light on headlight, and on basis it light on small light.
Still havent been able to figure out the leaving home coming home funtion. I think i disabled it on accident. Now that function doesnt work… help pls
On my 2012 GLI headlights stay on even after setting the light sensor to turn on at my desired time not sure what I’m doing wrong. I did not install the “yellow trigger wire” that came with my kit so not sure if that’s causing it.
Sounds like a different setup than mine. Mine has the light sensor, but no yellow trigger wire.
All good info...but you should of showed the before and after when the lights are on then off outside...only thing is no fog lights to complete the functions of this euro light switch...but thanks for the info 👍
Hey, anyone had this issue? Calibrating parking lights and low beams does nothing, what to do?
Same question!
Hello, could you please update your links? Thank you in advance!
Is it possible to disable the parking lights feature? I either want my headlights to be on or off. Would this just be achieved by calibrating the parking lights to come on later than the actual headlights?! Thank you!
I sold the car, but I would do just as you suggested, calibrate them both at the same darkness.
@@ackliph Thank you so much!
Hello .. I have a 2009 vw jetta and my door alarm notifying me that I left my headlights on quit working .. any idea what I can do? 😪
Mate did you solve that , its happening to me too , it beeps 3 times when Im leaving my car
for home feature mine has to be turned from the auto position to 0 position twice with ignition off. So it goes auto,0,auto,0,auto -> light should flash-> Then if you turn it back to 0 after 15 seconds the coming home feature will be setup to 15 seconds. to disable it you need to turn the knob to 0 within 5 seconds in this state.
Do you know if there's a way to keep the light level sensitivity, but make it so that the lights don't turn on as fast? I find that tunnel mode or whatever it's called does not do the trick and only makes it so the parking lights come on in the tunnel rather than the full headlights. It seems so sensitive to me. Driving near sunset is just on/off/on/off/on/off driving under trees. Lol.
Good luck. Sorry, all I know is what I showed. Sold the car now. Got a GTI!
@@ackliph Thanks for the response, man. Your video has helped me a lot. And congrats on the GTI! I'm jealous - my '12 Jetta with nearly 110k miles is getting ready to retire, though with the 5 cyl, it's probably got lots of life left and maybe it's me that's ready to retire it! Hahaha
@@lukeheffernan haha. True. That 2.5 will be the last thing to break on that car. Built like a tank!
Same problem, its annoying. Did someone solve the problem?
@@sametada9120 Unfortunately I just think it’s the nature of the light sensor. The only way you can change it is by what’s shown in the video. I’ve since sold the car and now the new automatic lights I have are much more intelligent
Good info. Now is all that controlled by the ecu or within the switch unit.
I have this switch for a project car.
Pretty sure most of its in the switch itself.
@@ackliph thats good, so should work on any car with the correct wiring. Now just got to find a wiring diagram.
What is the leaving home feature?? And amazingly informative video btw!
pretty sure when you unlock the car at night the lights turn on
Does it work on Golf MK6 2010 versions? It's not working on mine, can't hear the beeps
Works on mine
Mine dont beep lol, sidelights seem too stay on when on auto and cars locked, any idea? Thats when its dark , it dosnt seem too turn off
Does yours have little adjustment screws on the unit? Sounds like the old style if it doesn't beep.
@@ackliph no adjustment screw, im taking it apart as we speak too see if it has contacts for a small speaker, if it doen ill solder one one and see if it is programed too beep
When you’re in “auto” do all the lights turn off when shutting off the car?
After about 30 seconds, yes.
My headlights stay on 24/7 no matter what. Even tried closing it in my hand and calibrating and they stay on. 2007 GTI. Any ideas?
I think always on means it's not recognizing anything. like a fail-safe perhaps.
Thanks for the video. Helped a lot.
Does anyone else have the same thing happen when the Auto Mode is on, and they unlocked the car and open the door, there are about 5 beeps then it stops? Not sure if that’s normal operation or a setting somewhere that needs changing.
I also have the same issue. It's kinda weird. Would be better without the beeps.
Does yours do it during daylight? Have only noticed it at nighttime, so I guess is somehow linked to the light sensor as oppose to the headlights…
That's normal.
First of all thanks for the video, it was extremely useful! Do you know how to setup the coming home lights to be the headlights instead of parking lights? Parking lights are way too weak. Thanks
im having the same issue :/
@@oli4936 I still haven't figured it out in case you were wondering
@@AlexMont99 interesting and it couldn't possibly be done with coding if the car doesn't come with it from factory?
@@oli4936 that is a very good question. Possibly
👋 did you manage to figure it out? Same issue here 🙈🙈🙈
Could somebody provide me with an information about how to disable Coming Home feature on my 2012 Jetta MK6 with Chinese headlight switch with Auto mode? There are no beeps while switching and I have no idea how to make Coming Home feature off. Thank you!
If there's no beeps, see if there are knobs on the little unit attached behind the switch.
"Little unit"? There is 2012 Jetta and the switch is different than facelift Jetta - with wide connector. I didn't see any knobs there..
Anyone solve that beep sound when you leaving car and leave switch on AUTO option ? Its so anoying
Got the same one, but for coming /leaving home only the side lights turn on... Any idea what to do? Because I'd like to have my headlights turn on! Own a Golf MK6 2012
Cheers ;)
No you need to keep it on auto then full off thn another auto..so light will blinking of cars that meens you have started timer for that
Mine doesn’t beep . Why ?
And nothing seems to be changing specially I want to activate leaving home I don’t know how
I'd bet you have a different setup than this one.
@@ackliph Yes I’m sure but is there anyway to do it?
My switch doesn't not beep, but if you make the instructions of the video three times fast, a green light of the switch activates, I think that light mentioned that the function is activated
Hi, you're a dude, thanks a lot! I have a question, every time I start the engine, my lights go out and after about 2 seconds they come back on, but every time when I have already started the engine, it annoys me, is there a way to turn it off? Thanks.
Did you solve that mate , its happening to me too
Hello, great work, can i know how activate test of staging odometer?
Its been so long. You'll need a VCDS or OBDaeleven to do it.
@@ackliph is it difficult when i'll have all to do it?
@@alessandromontesano3855 no. Just need to find the setting and change it.
@@ackliph do you know which is setting for me?
@@alessandromontesano3855 hi i hope this comment finds you in your best. In csse you havnt found the way look it up using (you car model) needle swipe or instrument cluster staging.
I will just add that this option turns on and off when the key is not in the ignition. It is very important.
Does it have coming/leaving home?
Yes. I don't know how to change the timing on it. There's another comment on here that explains a different method than I used.
@@ackliph you should do it with laptop. Use cable with VCDs program. 🤘🏻
@@khayalaliyev9292 oh no, this is an aftermarket unit. It has coming/leaving built in. It works on mine.
@@ackliph yes, I know. But also Jetta has it’s own hidden future coming/leaving. I saw it in videos. There you can put 15-30 seconds for comig/leaving with vcds cable. To use it is complicated, as you should push turn lights and do something else when you leave the car.
@@ackliph can you tell me the serial number of your old version and the new one Please? I would really appreciate!
Auto then off then auto then off then auto the timer will start
Mine it's on all the time in all switch posision, even in 0😡
Why is it so hard,
Lol. Aftermarket.
