    • @RealityBreakVR
      @RealityBreakVR  9 месяцев назад +18

      Yea, the pcvr space is moving a lot faster than the standalone space at the moment. But its always going to be less popular simply just because you need a vr ready pc.

    • @jamestate858
      @jamestate858 8 месяцев назад +9

      The issue with the beyond is the lack of affordable controllers and base stations. I run a pcvr setup and I upgraded to the quest 3 instead of the beyond because of the huge up-front cost. Controllers, base stations and a headset cost at least 1500 USD. A quest 3 cost a 1/3 of that.

      Not with the unrealistic overpriced and required sold separated ancient lighthouse trackings and powerful pc.
      VR is great and the most advanced new tech but still charging them for premium when barely any big software available is no go for everyone and is the reason why Quest rule supreme over them in community and playerbase speak for itself. I like Meta but not a fan of them

    If you're wall eyed or cross eyed, does foveal rendering render the whole screen in full definition and choke the framerate, or does it pick an eye or central point as the point of focus?

  • @leakyabstraction
    @leakyabstraction 9 месяцев назад +12

    I didn't buy the Quest 3 for mobile gaming, but I just got back from a business trip, and I have to say that it's quite something to play e.g. Red Matter 2 at an almost PCVR level of graphics in a hotel room. And it's highly compact, very easy to pack; even the lack of controller rings help. I guess it would be also viable to use a Quest 2 or Pico 4 and bring a powerful gaming laptop, but that's most complicated, and I personally don't even want to maintain having a gaming laptop, only a desktop.

    I'm really having a hard time choosing between Aero and Beyond. I wonder what would be the performance of the Beyond as it doesn't have the Eye Tracking feature which makes a performance boost on the Aero despite having a huge resolution. Is it a game changer from a performance point of view ? I'm a real world pilot and I mostly train myself on MSFS or DCS when not flying in the real world. The Beyond weight also really appeals me... I do run a Rift S with a RTX 2080Ti as for now, so I guess I'll also need to upgrade to a RTX 4090 + PSU to make a good use of the chosen VR headset.

    • @RealityBreakVR
      @RealityBreakVR  8 месяцев назад +1

      It really is a tough one. They are very similar but also very different headsets at the same time. The foveated rendering is a nice feature but, if you are going to buying a 4090 anyway, is performance going to be an issue??

    my problem is: iam drawn to the complete package that the index delivers, its all made to work perfect with each other, but the headset itself, is outdated, i cant stand the massive screendoor effect. but there are no other packs in that pricerange around and iam not drawn to combine 3 different pieces of hardware, that need software over software for them to even work with each others. theres nothing around, that would euqal an "index 2" so to speak. iam also not willing to spend money on an entry level device, just to spend money again on upgrading later, because since it tried my first with last week with the ps5vr2, i know that vr will be my 80% of gameplay time thing

    I got the quest 3 recently and the best part about it being a stand along headset isn't that you don't need wires, its the fact that you can bring it with you when you go somewhere. any game where I don't think the graphics or lack of mods will matter, I download it from the quest store for the convenience of portability.

      There are some great games for it for sure but when it comes to software department, it just isn't nearly close to it's 2% not even for Quest 2. VR is a great technology advancement but the lack of powerful software really prevent it from showing its greatness while we already reaching 100% for the pc and smartphones. Not sure if VR will ever reach at least 10% in 10 years

    • @Gingerlion777
      @Gingerlion777 8 месяцев назад +1

      @toututu2993 I think it all depends on what the software is gonna do. If you keep focusing on games alone, I agree it will never reach over 10%. But if the technology development goes well and good, Mr becomes more affordable, and developers implement it in the right way.. you create a much bigger market for such a device.

    I bought a PSVR2 last Wednesday, while I found the graphics outstanding the fact that it is limited to PSVR2 games, theatre mode sucks, there is always a cord to contend with and it is very clunky, awkward, and needs to be adjusted constantly prompted me to by a Quest 3 Friday. I like the Quest 3 so much better I ended up returning the PSVR2.
    PSVR2 was really hard to deal with and gave me instant nausea. I have not had that issue with Quest 3. Also I do have a decent gaming PC and coupled with that the possibilities seem endless with this headset compared to the PSVR2.
    All that being said Best Buy gave me a full refund even though I had already redeemed the Horizon Call of the Mountain code. I now have this game plus No Mans Sky which can be played in VR or non VR. So if I ever feel the need to buy a PSVR2 in the future (maybe an updated version?) I will already own Horizon and will not have to pay for the bundle.

    I like my PSVR2, but compared to the pancake lenses of Meta Quest 3, I find them very easy to be blurry unless you wear it exactly right. A headset mod like Globular Cluster really helped. Still it ended up being the cheaper route for me because the cost of accessories on Quest is insane and adds up. (Though, in the future I see the joke being on me when I buy everything.) I do enjoy the bigger experiences I get on PSVR2 and the OLED lenses, and there are certainly enough games to keep me busy … however the lense clarity or lack there of it can be jarring. It’s an adjustment phase that can be fixed.

    No fangirling, it is what it is tho. Best Value- Quest 2 and 3 respectively. Whether you do stand alone, PC, or you own a PS5, the Quest 3 and 2 are the best headsets and value. Its wireless, it does so much, biggest library, constant updates, so much more. Valve only putting out 4-5 VR titles since 2015 says all you need to know about why PCVR and why Quest 2 and 3 are the top PC VR headsets by a mile. PSVR2 made itelf niche by closed ecosystem, expensive price of entry, and wired, the eye tracking and controllers are just not enough especially when you consider PSVR2 will mostly be Games Only and lack social and creative content, a fail imho, lets not forget ps+ for what multiplayer PS5 offers.. I want someone to beat Meta, but nobody is even coming close atm

    WHY can't a first timer go for a GOOD headset? Why are you plugging the Meta options as "first timers need this"? Why the hell do i want to experience a crappy VR headset as my first VR headset?
    When you started gaming, did YOU buy a piece of garbage, or did you went for something that could potentially deliver a good experience?
    It almost feels like you got paid by meta to plug them!

    • @RealityBreakVR
      @RealityBreakVR  4 месяца назад

      Trust me, a 700 sub yt channel is not getting paid by meta.
      The quest headsets are genuninely very capable headsets, they are good for beginners because they are easy to setup and use because you dont need anything like base stations. I mention in the video that quests are capable of pcvr as well. I have only ever used quest headsets. My first headset was a quest 2 that i got in 2021. Again, a very capable headset and hands down the best for standalone vr.
      Even if you use it for pcvr like I mostly did, the value of the quest is very good. You can get a quest 2 for £250 now, just plug it in and play, no messing around. PCVR headsets are more complicated for beginners and more expensive. I stand by what I said, quest is good for someone getting into vr for the first time, there really isnt even any alternatives for standalone and if you have a pc you will still get a great experience.
