Currently a 91B, Hotel 8, (recovery). Being a Mechanic is not all bad, if everyone helps each other in the motorpool and does their part, then all moves smoothly. I am currently a 91B at Fort Rucker, AL. You’re exactly right Chris, it is a heck of a lot of work, but it’s not really that difficult. I enjoy this line of work and it’s all I did before I joined. So far AIT is really flying by a lot faster than basic training did. Oh yeah and you hardly ever get smoked, only if your a complete idiot lol

Vehicle Recovery Operations were also included in our MOS, with the M578 and M88 Recovery vehicles. It was a lot of work, but tons of fun as well. When I was done with my enlistment, I decided to become a cop instead. Got hired on when I was in my 20's, and retired a few years ago in my early 50's with a great pension and insurance for life as well. No regrets at all. justasoldier1611 wait a 92 on the ASVAB ? I think he meant on EL because I didn’t get a 92 on the ASVAB and I got a 91Bravo, I worked on vehicles my whole life :) and I wanted something I enjoyed. You at least need a 40 but you need high scores on certain sections to be able to get that MOS
@@natnat4892my bad, not the asvab I meant you need to get a 92 on the AFQT. Your right the asvab isn't that bad but you need to score a 92 on the MM section. That just seems to be really high to me. Either way I'll get it, quitting isn't an option.
Hey how are you , I've just recently passed my Asvab exam and this MOS was on my list now that I've seen what it is made of looking to see other videos on 68Q , 91D and Water Specialist MOS thank you so much .
Finally we get see a video on 91B’s, I’m hoping to enlist as a 91B by the end of the year. Hopefully I meet all the qualifications. I’m currently a heavy duty diesel for Ryder and have always had an interest in the field
You should do a video about 42R because I’m a 42R stationed at Fort Drum, it’s not often talked about or appreciated in the Army, it’s one of the most chill MOSs, and it’s extremely difficult to get this MOS.
Only thing I can point out, I am a ASE certified tech. It's not a requirement to get when your a mechanic in the civilian world. It may help but not required. It mostly depends on the shop your applying to.
I second this. I have no ASE’s and did a few years in a car dealership after attending tech school (you don’t even need to do tech school but it helped me get into my dealership job), then started in diesel after that. You will 100% learn on the job and progress in what you’re able to do if you have a good attitude, are willing to shut up and learn when someone tries to help you or teach something, and if you are willing to do anything asked of you. If you’re a polite and respectful person and they know you’re a go-to for anything they ask, they’ll more than likely willingly teach and help you so you are successful. I don’t know how it is in the army but that’s my experience in the civilian world. Hoping to go Army National Guard soon, may just go 91B because of my civilian experience. Not sure if tech school diploma will get me higher rank (it is an accredited school and an applied associate’s degree) but hoping so!
@@DreamSnatcher-mz9sk he means the shipping bonus. If you leave within 30 days then you can get 16,000. The Mos does not have a bonus since it is not in demand.

I’ve been a 91B for 5 years now. I have one thing to ask for all new soldiers coming into this MOS. Mechanical experience is a gold before entering. AIT does not teach you how to be a mechanic at all and I see countless times new soldiers coming in with no experiences frustrated because they are not up to par with the tasks. My advice if this was you entering to always ask questions and shadow the more experienced mechanics and stay away from the shit bags hooah. All in all this is a hard trade and expect long hours but the knowledge you could learn can help you for your entire life, so keep that in mind.
Getting experience about this MOS and getting ready for basic training is not an easy task. I thought that 91B was a good opportunity of learning how to be a mechanic. The main reason for me joining as an 91B is that i love fixing things, so i thought that the army would help me learning it not that i have to learn it before joining.

This is what I want my mos to be. I love working on vehicles but my experience is self taught, kinda like a "learn as I go." But man when you said you have to get a 92 on the asvab!?!? Woaaahh! That's crazy!
justasoldier1611 wait a 92 on the ASVAB ?
These new MOS's mess my mind up I was a track and wheel mech, 63B and 63C
That was my MOS. Back then it was 63B or 63S.
63T's AIT also included the jeep and the deuce and a half as well.
I was a 63B light wheeled vehicle mechanic and done my AIT at Jackson 2001
Leaving march the 12th for basic!
Leaving August 20 to Fort Jackson for BCT then to Fort Lee for AIT too become a 91B pretty excited I been working on cars for a while now
Me too !!91b fort Jackson Aug 20!
Wossen Alemu hopefully I get to meet you, you never know
I leave February 12 for basic. 91b is my mos. as of right now they are offering a $16000 bonus
brad lloyd I leave the 11th for Jackson bct
Kyler Lynn that’s here I’m going to.
I’m a 91H! Maybe we will be in the same platoon or company, we have the same last name letter so who knows haha
Damn dude, when I enlisted they didn't have a bonus. I enlisted back in November.
@@DreamSnatcher-mz9sk he means the shipping bonus. If you leave within 30 days then you can get 16,000. The Mos does not have a bonus since it is not in demand.
Hell yeah glad you finally made this i just got to ait for 91B thanks for the video
This is the MOS I signed up for, I leave for basic next month.

Actually shipping out on July 14th for basic and was just wondering how much they made i already knew the job was just curious of the pay and was explained how my ranking will go with it by several people
In 1968-1971 I was a 91B2P combat medic airborne why and when the hell did the Army change MOS numbers. Thanks.
They changed them in Fis 2010
So I just enlisted as a 91b shipping out on the 25 will I ever get combat experience as a mechanic???
Is there a colorblinde spectrum to where you can still become wheeled vehicle mechanic? I am very interested in the position however am slightly colorblinde. It has never effected my life though and honestly until recently after randomly taking a test, I had no idea I had it. Also, I used to have a job working on cars and my colorblindness was never an issue
I ship in June as 91b!!
Notification Platoon! Love your videos, Chris. Can you do a video on 92W or 92Y?
very helpful information, thank you
US Army Reserves 91B I've been in for 6 years and I'm ready for more
Im doing Active Duty after high school (currently a Senior), what do you do in the Reserves for 91B?
@@BrianShin600 Vehicle maintenance and recovery mostly
I'm going reserves too
91b is an awesome mos to get foot on the door it can translate to mechanic jobs for diesel or auto in the civilian the only thing that sucks is you work long hours with no overtime pay
I am currently at fort lee for 91b just over a quart of the way through. I am looking to go to hotel8 after I get home and get certified for being a driver
I can't wait to learned about working on cars. This gonna be sick 😝
Please can I have some information about 91H ( Tracked Vehicle Repairer) please
Also just realized, and you forgot one thing in the vid, you WILL become a diesel tech in hind sight 20/20, because we don't use gasoline engines in our equipment, it's all ds2/3 and jp8, thought I'd throw that out there
I remember Army gasoline was called "Mogas."
@@dougtheeliminator1077 yup still is, and it's usually if in the 50 gal drum non ethanol 100 octane too, but usually it's just 87 from the shoppett 🤣🤣🤣
Keep up the great work Chris! Can you do a video on 88 U? It’s the Railway Operations Crew member. Thanks brother!
Used to be the most for a combat medic I was a 91B2P med spec airborne.

J Layssard that’s crazy i went to meps yesterday and picked 91B and i ship out march 4th!

@@southerngent9930 ok cool bro I'll probably see you in basic training
Leaving monday 91B sucks to be me....
@@abracadabra0974 I might run into you at ait
How easy is ait training
You think as 91B I can get job in a big company as CATERPILLAR ? Like a service technician or something or should I go for a another MOS to match CATs requirements?
Can you do 15B aircraft powerplant repairer, and 15D aircraft powertrain repairer.
I start Basic training in January then AIT in march to become a 91b.
my question is do they see combat. I'm aware that they have to do recovery for vehicles but for any other reasons? thanks
I've been watching your videos on inboxes I was interested in I chose this MLS and have to watch the video it makes me a really assured that I'm happy I chose it I shoot about May 18th for basic Trident fort Jackson and then I go to fort Lee after that
Can someone please help me????? I want to join the national guard and i am interested after my basic training what comes next ??? The AIT??? After completing the 91b AIT do i go home and come back only on weekends??
After basic you go to AIT for 17 weeks then you go back home and do your 1 weekend a month
Great Video!
I'm scared to go to my first duty station wherever go. Do I have anything to be worried about? I'm terrified. Do the 3 years go by fast? Did I make a mistake?
How much about auto repairs do you have to know beforehand? Will the army train you completely?
91B also going airborne here. I ship out on the 16th. Wish me luck yall :)
How has the Aiborne helped with this MOS?
Im shipping out to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri on July 15th, and then I got AIT at Fort Lee for 91 B. Any tips?
What about if your currently enrolled in a college for diesel mechanic getting a associate would that help jump start in the military ??
Hi, can i know if the navy or coast guard have mechanics for road vehicles?
Im 13 Estonian and i would love this job i love vehicles right now i mostly work on motorbikes but i have 1 project car too! And i know very much about vehicles well not every thing like how to diagnose electric faults and stuff but im 13 and i will learn more about vehicles
I am a 91B. I have a hard time learning new things and remembering instructions and memorization. I need help prior to AIT and RSP. Please reach out if you can help me.
What I can say is say it over again in you’re head over and over then randomly through the day test yourself
Do you have a video for 91L?
I’ve always wanted to do something like this for the military. But I fear the BCT, any advice?
PCruler never fear btc !! It’s not as bad as you think or as bad as everyone makes it out to be I swear ! Just keep your head down and don’t stand out in the crowd stay under the radar and you will be just fine !
Do you have a video on becoming an officer OCS\O9S or life as an officer? Similar to these videos.
Would you go out on missions or would you stay back and finish your repair work
I’ve been a 91B for 5 years now.
The main reason for me joining as an 91B is that i love fixing things, so i thought that the army would help me learning it not that i have to learn it before joining.
can you do one on 91m?
I thought about doing 91B but never joined and can’t now due to an injury preventing me from joining the military
I would like to join the army and try to become a 91b for mos but I would love to try out for Army Ranger as well
Do you get at least a day off during the week? Im curious , this is the position I want to try to get.
You being a 88m how well maintained are the vehicles.??
Hey one more question can you make a video on EFMP Program please oh and also MOS 68M

Chris were you able to go to jump school colorblind? And can you make a vid on jobs and schools for colorblind soldiers?
