- Kings X plays two songs in a late night TV performance broadcast 5-22-92, but taped earlier due to the L.A. riots happening at the time.
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on RUclips or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.
Every time I watch these guys, I just wonder how awesome it would of been for them to get world wide recognition like they deserved. They are just the best band ever.
They HAVE got worldwide recognition. What's this 'magic place' that people seem to think they missed out on?

Dug’s bass tone is so fat and crunchy that there’s plenty of body to the mix when Ty takes his solos. Awesome.

@@KISSDUDE333Well, it didn't make it out 2 years ago but I have the LP/CD/T-Shirt bundle pre-ordered for Sept 2. I've been wearing that new single out myself. At first I thought it was a little mediocre until the chorus hit and then I felt like it was 1988 again. Catch 'em live if you can. Probably not much more touring by these cats. Cheers!

There are a whole lot of deaf people in the world. Otherwise, King's X is the biggest band on earth. I just can't understand it. They literally, have it all and, bring it live. I pity all the tone deaf, non-discerning people.

WHY DO PEOPLE SAY THINGS LIKE THIS? I wish they wouldn't. People can say what they like but comments like that perpetuate the idea that they somehow failed in the business or fell short of some 'magic place' that doesn't exist. They have been successful without losing their distinctive voice, never selling out and what's more they are ADORED all over the world and have been for over 30 years.
I appreciate the OP was six years ago so it was before they went Top 10 on the billboard with their last album but even then...
It's BOLLOCKS (maybe they should record a new song with that title with a similar groove to 'It's Love' and sing about it!!)
Dude your missing the point IMO here …. Since the late 70s and still personal friends with him, it’s not that they would’ve ever changed or sold out but it would’ve been nice for them to have further acclaim / recognition and more importantly that they could have made money at this love of music, they dedicated her life for !!! ..as these guys are still struggling to pay their bills‼️ 💔💔 - when bands with none of this talent have become Deci- millionaires‼️
