Monster Of Rock, Moscow 1991
This is the video of Pantera, black crows,Metallica, ACDC and an unknown Russain band performing in Moscow in 1991. This is a real great concert and the crowd is great. A must watch metal concert for anyone.

Holy shit, I can hear the bass!
So can I it's a miracle
@@miguelharo4335 Not really a miracle, Justice album is the only one with *very* low bass. They always had good bass in live recordings and other albums.
Maybe it's my hearing, but I only started hearing bass from Black album and on (talking about the studio recordings), aside from bass solo/intro's/interludes ofc.
@@sh4rpys No bass on that album
@@ShadowZero1980 I hope you're not talking about Cliff. The bass was clear for the first 3 albums
1:36 Military policemen thinking that the war is coming. Epic epic pic!!
What the fuck is happening!!?!?!?
They probably thought that american was attacking while metallica was here to distrac them
Yeah I was hoping to see the officers reactions to that!

6:29 that echo along with that headbanging... that goes freaking hard man.
It’s pretty bad ass
Ehhh
@@lDDD587bro said ehhh ☠️
I am here cause I heard this is the very best rendition of One on the net. 6:31 that should have been added to the studio version the echoing was perfect.
6:21 It sounds amazing and unusual than original and all other concerts. His voice is like when they recorded Master of Puppets.
His voice in 91 is odly enough very much like 86-87. It's strange considering he used to sound the same on the record as he did live in 92, that was recorded in 90.
his vocals weren't that different during this time he just used different style for the black album
@@MetaITurtle false, between 1986-1988, james vocals deepened significantly. his vocals were quite different by 1988. nothing to do with styles
@@ARG0T ohh ok, I thought he just used different style for that album
@@ARG0T - I don’t think his voice deepened that much I think he just decided to sing lower. Obviously he sounds like Puppets/Justice here so he could still sing high like on those albums, to an extent. I don’t think he could pull off leper messiah lol
I love how he says oh god help me at 5:10 it’s a much better way than his studio vocals and it conveys so much more emotion. Glad it’s a regular occurrence in shows
It’s almost like a different melody line, it honestly sounds even better
@@swoleshaggy937it is I think
I always come back to this video and listen to 5:38 lars fill. One of his best imho. A drum fill doesnt need to be fast to be great. In this case, it was brilliantly pulled off.
He used to be a decent drummer. He has regressed alot. He never was among the best though.
Without Lars no Metallica,he's the glue and a mastermind, drumming is his sidekick😂
I think this is best I've heard lars play the double bass parts to this song
Haaris Raja this was also when he was 26 years younger from when you commented this.

He played the bridge backwards, but it fit somehow.
@@mmmusic1725 it sounded cool too
if metallica made 'one' in 1986.

wow in the beginning with the war sounds, i was thinking that the russians were all like "OH SHIT!!!!"
Finally a concert where you don't have all those flashes on the double bass drum part and you can see them headbanging =P this one was kickass! Around 1,5 million person on that place! Fucking crazy!
This performance of One had a real 'Cliff' feel to it. I love the 1989 Seattle performance, but this one is my favorite.
cliff would’ve done better 🤷🏻♂️
@@clinical_caliber only reason he’s loved so much is because he’s dead, literally an average player Jason did much better in the band and only reason he’s not respected as much is because he’s not dead.
@@jonathan.9402 Cliff write basically all of their songs up until and including some of this album though. Average player *maybe* but hes a god tier composer
Metallica will always be one of my favorite bands of all time.
Imagine going to your first concert after post Soviet Russia and having your face melted off by Metallica because you sat front row while they played one
Probably one of the best performances in terms of James singing. This one song proves it all for years to come. One love.
One... get it??
arguably one of the best rock songs ever
One of the best instrumental pieces they did. This song shanked the soul and the room. This is metal artistry at its finest.
*Thrash Metal
Great fucking performance of One!
The crowd looked genuinely concerned at the sound of machine gun fire.
They thought the Germans were back
his voice was like in ride the lightning
Ssstashkin 1 Master Of Puppets too 💕😃
one of my favorite parts of this video, and of this concert, is that the people are hearing this for the first time and stay quiet to actually hear the music, except the parts of the songs where everyone goes crazy
had to be an incredible atmosphere then! 8:00 - 8:20 is the JAM - that bass separation \m/
Oh my god!!!
One of the greatest concerts ever!!
Russia had just experienced the collapse of the Soviet Union. They had not known anything like this. The military got so excited that they thought everyone was being unruly. Lol they started hitting ppl & hitting cans on the ground. ( they weren’t being unruly. It was the excitement of the energy ) Most epic experience, it was filling souls with pure bliss. You can see it in their eyes. So beautiful!
The military didn't know what to do with all that, it was the first experience of such a huge gig. Also there were lots of cadettes in the crowd headbanging.
DUDE THIS SONG IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE
A year late but HELL YEAH, this is by far my favorite Metallica song, and it was the one that introduced me to the band AND heavy metal in general. It's been about 10 years since I first listened to it.
@@elgatocapibara i’ve always loved this song, but i’ve always felt like it was a part 2 to “Welcome Home” on the prior album. similar story, different character, and similar layout in the song… am i crazy or does anyone else agree?

6:47 sounds like his old scream 1985
metalica' s best song
Si definitely
When the sound is set up for concerts (at least this kind), the only things that get miked are the amps, vocals, and drums... I also imagine that the mics didn't pick up much of the crowd cheering, but I would also be in just as much awe after witnessing an awesome performance of an awesome song by an awesome band!
Hammett nailed that solo!
When metallica ruled the world

Doug Franklin better dead than red.
Heisenbooger better red than capitalist.
Is there really a difference? If you're red you'll end up starving to death anyways.
i bet metallica will stay together forever even when their dead...they will be putting on concerts in heaven!!!
People say 89 was their best year. But I think it was a little to fast and sloppy, 91-92 had perfect tempo
Have to agree, sorry for the delay. They absolutely earned the title of "Best live rock-metal show" in that era. Seen them starting on the Black tour (how could you miss them?) and multiple times since.
Let's just say diminishing returns.
When you go to see to Metallica, you're going to a great show.
But, back then we went to an epic show.
Thanks for the post.
@@petgeek1 lucky man
Perfect, and he doesn’t cheap out on the “DARKNESS/LANDMINE” parts here, all brutality like on the recording
No not imo I watched the 89 concert it was fantastic but this rendition of One is the best.
Thrash is inspired by punk. So what if it's sloppy?
4:34 why did kirk use distortion there, he didn't on the studio recording.
+TheCryptCrusader Maybe to blow away you with how it sounded studio wise vs live.
Coltallic some people have gain up to 1000 on the amp in special case of a concert, however he DID click the distortion off, you can hear him click it off before the little lick
Coltallic It’s just something they do for live shows. Like how they play the fade to black intro slow.
It sound better
Because the solo is hard to do clean and doesn't sound as well, especially the tapping part.
I was at this concert, I was then in my second year studying in college, what groups were there and I don’t remember, I went to METALLICA, it was a complete blowout, Broom - we remembered listening to it at home and in urgent company back in 86, when it was openly that the pioneers and Komsomol members did not approve of the blah)) which did not stop us from drawing her name through a stencil on the back of the padded jacket)) on the trashed cassettes on Elektronika 302 with the batteries crumpled into the trash, it arose that this way they would work a little longer)) and instead rewinding after wiretapping, I used a pencil, the film broke, you nicked the nail lag from your mother or older sister, glued the film and listened again, and here is BROOM live in Moscow, my whole world turned upside down with emotions then...)))
you can checkout my channel i do metal too)
kirk plays a little bit of the Frayed Ends in the beginning solo
That was the end of For Whom The Bell Tolls
+vincent vega it was,but he doodled a little bit of Frayed at the end
Yeah I hear it too
And plays the end of "For Whom The Bell Tolls" solo at the beginning of video :)

How does it feel after 10 years
@@jeevanfernandes8953 @Ecye @Galaxic @MarcoV.................................................................................After 10 years, I feel great. I graduated and attended a university and got a degree, and now I'm an engineer with a decent salary, I constantly workout, bike, lift, and train multiple martial arts (BJJ, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Boxing)...I consider myself in pretty decent shape and am content with the way I look. I have a gf now too, out of my league for sure, but for some reason shes into me...been together 3 years now. Im blessed. After listening to this song now, its much more dark and sad to me...the lyrics hit home much more , and I feel sadness for people stuck in this situation, paralyzed with only your thoughts to keep you company...which will turn against you over time as well, just as your body has. A terrible fate indeed. One thing hasn't changed for sure tho: Metallica can fucking rock a riff like no one else, and this song bangs like no other! Fucking classic, mfer! One of the best songs of all time!
For this part of the concert, James's '86 returned to him. Such epic timey wimey shit.
Don't forget this was the last like 2 or 3 months for the existence of the Soviet Union
I imagine there were a shitload of afghan war vets in that crowd that lost their fucking minds at the beginning of this
Unbelievable show unbelievable crowd Moscow banging 91 🤘🙂 my favorite song as well
Love this concert. I saw them in 95 with Corrosion of conformity, and in 97 with Poweman 5000, System of a down, Kid Rock, and Korn. They leave it all out there, everything they have. Neck hurting so bad when i left. Still going 2023🤘🤘

Very late reply but they had microphones on stage stage that only picked up the band
They best add this to Spotify. Metallica 91 Moscow
finally 😁
Why does he sound like 1985 james here?
A lot of people tend to think his voice deepened greatly, and while that may be true to an extent, I don’t think it deepened to the point where he can’t sing like he does on puppets anymore. Though he did have trouble singing leper messiah. His deep twangy black album vocals are just such a stark contrast to the “puppets” sounding vocals
It's not unknown band, it's called E.S.T.
james has alot of feeling in this performance!!!
I LOVE IT!
Now I don't know which version of this I like better, this one or the from from their Live Shit: Binge & Purge..
Hearing the riff start at 6:05 is like watching spongebob and then getting shot in the face
This is like the closest rendition of ONE at the tempo of the studio version. Usually they play it abnormally fast which really messes with James. Playing and singing that fast really impeaches his vocal chords and requires a lot of diaphragm which makes the performance take a hit. When they play it at the official studio version speed, this is the masterpiece that comes of it. This live version sounds so good
James's voice is much deeper now a days, huh?? He sounds like a 10 yr old in this show, huh?? Haha!!
Sammy Lane oh yeah, he sounds like a grandpa singing a country song

I don't mean to insult you, but I think 2009 is a lot farther away from 1988 than 1991 is. Also, around this time you'll notice they took Puppets a lot slower than the original. They were really into laying things back and "grooving." It's all because of Bob Cock.
