I'm a new sub.. I have bought set of Carbothellos, some very soft Amazon Pastels and 12 set of hard sticks by Koh I Noor. I'm using inexpensive stuff like Rembrandt and Koh I Noor as I learn, practice and so on. I'm starting very well for just starting Lol 🤣 I have a pad of Hanemulhe Velour and I am not going to use it for awhile. I bought craft velour and Canson XL Sand Grain Dry Media paper and Clear Gesso. Once I have a palette that works for me, hopefully end of the week 😂 with All I purchased, I am saving for a big haul of Pastel Grain . I know paper is everything but having quality Pastels comes first. I'm with the old standards and happy about it. Well, cheers to the growth of your channel 🎉
Fascinating, even if most of your techniques are over my skill understanding; but I did want to ask you about blending -- is it because your style of pastel painting doesn't include blending? Have you done any videos about blending? Thanks!
I typically don’t blend when I’m working with the soft pastels. You can use your fingers to blend but it tends to dull down the colors by knocking down the vibrancy of the pastel. If I want to create a gradient, I’ll use two separate colors and sort of lay down strokes back and forth until they’re blended. I demo blending on a couple of previous videos on patelmat, la carte and various other pastel surfaces if you want to watch those. I hope this helps 😊
I’m so glad you said that! I definitely meant to do that but forgot. Here is the link to the set on Dakota Pastels: www.dakotapastels.com/product/Girault-10-Greyscale?cat=80&idsku=20314 It looks like they are on backorder but should ship out by the 22nd if you were to order them

Perhaps when you show a product you could provide a link to where you ordered? I like content creators who do that. Thank you 😊
