Hullo Kerri, I am curious about what pencils you use at the beginning of the eye? I was told that this paper would not be available in the US until after the first of the year. So now on the 15th of January I am looking for some reviews of this paper and some actual artworks on it as well. Thanks for the video featuring this paper from Canson.
I feel like the Canson Velvet has more depth to it. It really holds those strong blacks and light colours too. The fur also looks a bit softer. Awesome to see these side-by-side :)
Yeah I'm a bit worried about a larger area of blending sticks with it, I'm still waiting on my pad to try it. It works great with the pastel pencils though
I live in the UK and have just ordered some velvet from amazon uk. Unfortunately I won't be able to receive it until January 2025!! Anyway my point of view is Velvet looks much better, brighter sharper colours!
Interesting I'm waiting for my pad to arrive to see if it works with coloured pencils, I've had no end of problems with pastelmat board and I live in Brisbane so maybe the sheets have been better but the white board has been awful. Even the replacement board Clairefontaine sent are useless. Such a pity as I loved the surface.
Oh really, yeah I haven't used the board much so can't really say. I'm still waiting on my velvet order, so keen to try it over a full painting. I'll make sure to share my thoughts
I can hardly wait to find a store in the USA where I can buy some of this paper! I’ve been trying online to no avail. Does anyone know of a place to buy it?

What brand of pencils are you using?
I use Stabilo Carbothello Pastel Pencils, they are my favourite

I'm in Brisbane too and I've never liked the white pastelmat, it's a different beast entirely to the other colours

Still seems to be out of stock everywhere in the US.
Can you tell me what colour and brand is the cream stick you are using for the background.
It was Art Spectrum Extra Soft Stick
Yellowish Umber C

I'm in Australia and we are only just starting to get it via Amazon
Pastelmat quality control has gone down a lot im hoping this new paper works good
I'm hoping it also makes Clairefontaine do better with their quality control on Pastelmat as well
