Great tutorial, thanks. I’m about to transition to pastel pencils. My preferred method to outline has been the grid method with a proportional divider. I note all the difficulties people mention with gridding onto pastelmat. What do you think?
Thank you, yes I’ve never run out of layers with Pastelmat, but have with smooth papers. It also give a lovely soft finish and you can apply light over dark 😊
Just what I needed starting with colour pencils. Please share a link to the paper you use as there are so many Pastelmat versions that it is hard to know and easier to find out from a pro like yourself. Thank you. And by the way, your art is amazing, I'm so glad I've found you. Subbed.
Hi , Do you use mineral spirits ? as it would take the need for masses of layers out , kind of minimising the work . Lovely picture btw , very cute owl Absolutely Professional looking . Thanx
Hi, I have used them in the past, but I'm not keen on it. I prefer to just blend with the pencils, if I want a more painterly look I like to use watercolour pencils. Thank you so much ☺️
This is a fabulous and great idea to use dark grey pastlemat and white colored pencils!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊

Thank you so much. Yes I probably wouldn’t grid directly onto Pastelmat as it would be difficult to remove any marks.
Very helpful.
Thank you 😊
Very interesting. What's the advantage of using pastelmat over everything else? Does it allow you to stack more layers compared to other papers?

Thank you so much and thank you for your support. I think I bought this in store, so I don’t have a link, but it’s the dark grey paper version 😊
@@SamanthaCliftArt thx ;)
Great tutorial. Is yours the light blue or light grey pastelmad pad?
Thank you, this one is actually the dark grey, it looks different on camera, I thought it would be a good contrast for the white feathers 😊

Hi can i ask you a question how do you blend white colour pencil on pastelmat please
I’ve actually found that the white Polychromos works brilliantly on Pastelmat. Slowly building up soft layers 😊
Is it feasible to put a base down with pastel and then use coloured pencils over the pastel or does that not work?
Yes I have used pan pastels before, Pastelmat takes so many layers 😊
@@SamanthaCliftArt does it work with pastel as base then use coloured pencil on top of pastel pls?
