The joy of Mercedes sound systems. Have lots of experience with these and they are a pain. The MOST bus goes through head unit, phone, CD, TV tuner, tuner/ Amp, digital radio unit. Any failure will stop the sound. Most failures on the S-Class sound system are related to water in the boot. When valeters clean the wheel arch with a pressure washer the water sprays in through the side boot airvent (to allow boot to close) and ends up in the electronics. Some you can fix and some are so badly corroded and require replacement. Same issues also affect CL's... And others
Thank you for this post.. Same thing in going through right now.. I have a 2011 Mercedes benz s550 4matic water got in. I replaced the satellite module but I still got no sound . Car came with bang & olfusen system .so in the back left hand side is 2 amps and the satellite tuner can you help
@STILLKINGSTON73 From all that I have seen, the no sound condition is typically caused from a dead amp. One thing you can try is by inserting a fiber loop into the voice control module section and seeing if that does the trick. If this doesn't work than most likely you have a dead amp.
Well done yet again. Why people buy an expensive car, but are not willing to spend the money to maintain it is beyond me. I noticed the car has come to you with the standard amount of fuel. 👍
You most have remembered something Luis. Anyway, you got it fixed and that's what counts. It brought back a lot of memories for me. Don't see these things anymore. Nice stuff Luis👍
Hello, My issue as it stands: - All power + grounds are working going into all units - Red light inside the comand unit glows - Amp is new just as a precaution - When a scanner is plugged in, the comand and other audio related equipment do not show up. They show as blank as if theyre not equipped. - I have checked all fuses to be good with power going across any related to the comand audio system. - There is no display of anythont on the screen. It remains black but can still tilt. Any idea of where to start?

Right... it seems like there is an issue with the command, but you have other systems not communicating that might or might not be related... You need to understand first what is common to all of those units, and figure out why are they not communicating... Focus on the central gateway (CGW), as that can impact multiple systems... I wouldn't buy any parts just yet...

Yes I did sir..many times.. But I don't see anything you refer to as the "sound processor.." In video you said you still get no sound.. My satellite tuner was already repaired .. I plugged it in and still no sound .. When sent my satellite tuner for repair I also sent my amp also . Mercedes repair shop said my amp was good.. The person before me who own this car, when buying brand new from the dealer they opted for the bang & olufsen sound system.. Not the Kardon.. So in my trunk on the left side is satellite tuner and 2 bang olufsen amp.. A big one with 1 big plug going to it and another with bang fiber optic loop.. In my car there is no voice command module on the left side or the right side of the trunk. In my car the voice control module is sitting under the dynamic seat pump .My voice control module has no fiber optic going to it so I cannot bypass it to test.. Thank you for replying toe and the community, but I don't know what else do.. Also when scanner if hooked up I get no codes relating to them..

Can someone help me please.. Im not getting no sound at all..y navigarion still work.. My phone still connect but i cannot use the steering wheel buttons i also can connect bluetooth but still cant play anything
Excellent repair. Just about every motor like this I get in the owner is as tight as a ducks @rse. The quality of the supplied battery was a give away. One question, when the TV is coded out how does the MOST ring still work without a loop reflector being fitted to the TV module plug? Or did you take the fibre optic cables from the TV plug and plug them into the Bluetooth and Tuner cables to complete the loop so to speak.
Hello. I have a friend with 08 S550. The Bluetooth stopped working for a while now. The dealer asked for $3000 to fix it. Last week I told him to buy a 30 pin dongle Bluetooth adapter that he connected to the 30 pin iPod cable in the glove box. This also didn't work. But now, after he played with the AUX feature, the FM, AM show nothing, And there's no sound like in your video. Do you think that it's going to be a good idea by changing the Bluetooth radio computer, and take the chance? Thank you.
Hi Difficult to tell without a few checks... As per the video, the tuner is also the amplifier module, so makes sense to loose sound and the tuner at the same time... You need to check if there is no blown fuses etc... before proceed any further... But there is a good possibility that the tuner/amplifier module has been messed up... 😬 👍👍👍
Great video Loius! But what an absolute dog of a car 🙈 Great tip about the MOST as well having the arrows👌 I had something similar in my E61 with the DAB module being removed previous to my ownership. Wish I'd seen this video a few years back 😂👍 I find the optical loop plugs are a good help for trying a quick fix or temp repair in these MOST systems. The radio in my GL 450 comes and goes. Sometimes it works for days with no problem. Then some days it goes in and out. The radio is still working but no sound is coming out. The phone can call and answer but I can’t hear anything because there is no sound. It happens randomly. Then it May suddenly have sound. So annoying.

You need a loop tool to loop out the modules on the fibre optic. If you loop out the bad module, radio comes to life
