I really enjoy Tom's flavor to his spells. Like making magic missile from his feathers, flapping his wing for gust, or ulling lighting from his injury to use a lightning attack.
Petition to make it so enemies are affected by the injury wheel when hit with a bat 20 (or 19 in Kim’s case). If it’s gonna screw the players, it should screw their enemies. Break their ribs, stab them in the eye, etc
This is a great idea. It'd be a good way to get some organic narrative conflict. You cut off a villains arm and defeat them, and but then come back later having replaced it with a thunder-cannon.
In fairness to this group, most groups that ask that are at least doing something morally questionable. This was just recovering stolen property and got stuck in a fight. I do love any time that a party asks the question.
I like the change in how Katie plays the Aila. It's better then in previous episodes, hope she will go more in the direction of badassery, intimidation, violence is always a valid solution.
Love the group conversations between the characters in this episode! Funny characters. It's nice starting to see the characters bond and get to know each other.
Two years later, I have become so emotionally-attached to these characters and this story I can't stop listening :D Thank you so much (a bit late) for this incredible adventure!
When I first read the title I though "Oh my god, they have rations for just 2 and a half day? Are they still injured and exhausted? This is tough!!". I catched the joke later and I'm glad I was wrong. Good game so far, Lucius is my favourite!
22:00 I got the biggest smile on my face hearing the group talk about Shardblades. Sanderson is such a great writer, I'm very happy whenever I hear that anyone is reading him.
I understand the feelings of some of the characters about the battle that transpired, but honestly, my war torn veteran character would have said, "They signed away their lives the moment they robbed us, threatened us, barely negotiated with us if it could even be called that, and absolutely would have killed us if we resisted any more than we did. We did what we had to, not only to survive, but to restore sentimental objects back to the rightful possession of their owners. They had every opportunity to allow us to go free and instead chose every path that begged us to kill them. They were lucky, they had a quick death, it could have been so much worse."
Alright, I'm glad with how that fight ended. As for Mark's (good-natured) potshot at us commenters... well, fair enough- I did make it seem like it was your fault at first before clarifying my statement. But anyway, like I said, the fight went far better than I expected considering the odds, and the party managed to even solve some of their food problems. It was also nice to see the characters- NPCs included- trying to cope with their actions, being the first time they really were on the offensive instead of trying to escape or intimidate. Everyone did a good job showing how this whole mess affected them (I mean, I have no sympathy for the elves- they stole the party's stuff, threatened them multiple times, and then tried to seem like the victims?- but in character, it can be a lot to take in). Beyond that, the banter between everyone on the journey to the river was well done. Nova was adorable with her book-smart personality, Aila was finally showing a bit more initiative, Qillek was a great person for confiding to while also trying to learn things himself, and Lucius was oblivious in the best was possible (daddy will pick him up, he didn't get the hint about the daggers, ect.). I can't really comment on Sentry since her player wasn't here, but I am still interested in her. Once more, you guys have continued to impress us- don't let any future comments from me or anyone else criticizing something in a session convince you otherwise. We just want to make sure everything is going well and that any mistakes made don't persist in the future (like a druid who's not moon-circle being able to shift into a CR 1 beast when they are not level 8). And like I said before, it never hurts to clarify a few things so that everyone is caught up. See you guys in two weeks, where we may hopefully get to civilization.

The decision-making was slow and dragged the gameplay out. I was then disenfranchised and worried by the chemistry of the group in future episodes. Present thoughts, after watching episode 4 live on Sunday...It has rekindled my intrigue in the group once more, in other words, I fucking loved this episode. Mark great as usual, being the masterful GM he is. Great role-play from all players. I was alive while watching Katie‘s performance - now she really stands out - displaying her reasonable disinterest in the group, like Juitou was initially before she died, so that leaves room for a lot of development for her character. Tom roll played well, despite my petty begrudges, I only want to see more of Tom. It is a shame Rhiannon wasn’t around, for what is easily the best episode yet, but I am hopeful she can role-play her character once again. Overall, the last 2 episodes have set up more chemistry in the group, with hints and nods at future plot for the characters. In a world of magic, the line could be somewhat blurred - except that thanks to Aeoris's lore, I doubt that the alignment of stars has much impact on the planet (due to the barrier - I've forgotten it's name). In fact, thanks to that lore, I wouldn't be surprised if on Aeoris Astronomers were more often historians than scientists.
True. I suppose in a world where magic actually exists, there is virtually no difference between magic and science. Since science is simply the understanding and study of the world around us. Magic would simply be another natural force in the universe like gravity or electricity. A more accurate distinction in a world where magic is real could be arcane VS material.
@@isaacthimbleby8926 why would Astronomy be history? The barrier prohibits anything to enter the planet via ships or planeswalking (whatever). It doesnt prevents from seeing the stars. You could still study the constellations and such...I think
More often - not always. But more importantly I was comparing a magical world without the barrier, to one with it. I.e. in a magical world without the barrier astrology could easily be an important science; studying how the position of the stars effects everyday life. But in Aerois, due to the barrier, it is much less likely the position of stars impacts day to day lives - I’m not saying it is impossible, that is up to the GM. Just less likely. As for history, to Aerois, the stars are where some of them came from long ago, where they were invaded from, where they cannot now go. Some races may be able to point at a star and say, generations ago, that is where we lived. Such stories of long ago, are usually the purview of historians.
I’m very late to the game on catching HR, spent way too much time with tons of other great DnD shows, but I am so happy with Kim’s character this time around. shoobagoo: Ya, I thought it was way to much guilt from Mark also. These players already have a problem knowing when to attack. These players gave up gold and magic items when they gave into the Elfs…. If Marck wanted to offer them the opportunity to go after the Goblins he could have offered that chance during both those encounters in place of taking stuff from them. Instead me made it sound like they did not have to fight these Elf's and could have done a mission for them.
No, the elves were going to capture them and take them back to their camp. Trott attempted to bribe their way out of that, rolled poorly and their equipment was taken as a result. I imagine if they were taken to the camp, they would of had to deal with the goblin camp mentioned by the survivor, who said their leader may of had a job for them. Not saying the guilt tripping wasnt there, but they didnt run them down like dogs.
I don't know if you'll see this Mark, but are you planning on making the stats for the Guardian available like you did with the Lightborn? Came here from Crit role after Marks guest starring. I have to say I'm very conflicted. I don't thoroughly enjoy Marks style of DMing, in some points its very casual seeming, sometimes it feels like it lacks emotion to me. Not always, just sometimes. However, his world building is freaking incredible, and I feel like I find myself sitting like a starry eyed child when he starts describing the world or bringing in new things. And I love the players, so far they're all quite wonderful. Overall my likes outweigh my dislikes, so I'm unsure why I'm really posting this. Maybe I'm thinking that someone can explain what I'm seeing wrong or if anyone agrees with me.
I absolutely loved the first campaign and having only recently started this one, am finding it harder to get into and enjoy as much. I think some of that is just getting used to a totally different world and new characters but Mark's settings are superb as always.

They mentioned making an actual guide for Aerois, including classes and stuff.
Now that I've caught up it means I can't binge watch anymore, still worth the wait though
Ah, that special hell.
As per Mark, Pro Tip: If you tend to take no action, at least take the dodge action. Awesome tip...
Oh, i almost forgot. Seems nice to be all caught up and ready to continue.

3 moves, or 0. 3 if you just focus on the hexagon formed by the middle coins and shift the ones on the tips around clockwise 1. 0 if you just walk around the table and say : look, it now looks the same!
And the answer is:
Yey.
That was so funny. "It's better if he looses hope in the city than out here"
I want to see Rhiannons face when she realises her character caused a massacre when she wasn't even there.
5:41 is when the double trouble thumb thing happens and I didn’t notice it but I played it bake and it legit freaks me out!!! It’s like the twin thing we’re they say the same thing! Ehegg
At like 1:58:50 the line “I stopped listening almost instantly” made me laugh
I love that goblin just the faces we're the best
They should have Matt be a reoccurring guest like every few weeks he plays with them or whenever another player is away like now
Goblin Players: _Triggered_
Also Goblin Players: _Nod in agreement with Mark's description_
the dndoggies are FRICKIN AWESOME
I thought when he said large river, I thought he said Large wyvern I was like, Welp rip Lucius
''Bear-ly hold on to her shield'' hehe
These sessions are fabulous. Keep it going guys ❤️
I love how in previous episode the shaman was our villain and as soon as he went out BOOM! The real power arrives 😂
You can critique things you like, honestly I think people who do are a bit song minded
I absolutely loved the first campaign and having only recently started this one, am finding it harder to get into and enjoy as much. I think some of that is just getting used to a totally different world and new characters but Mark's settings are superb as always.
I find myself frustrated at the choices the PC make . Took me awhile to get though the first ep but after that no issues.
@@jamesclarke8085 Didn't you just critique people by writing that?
@@dainslatton9877 Na I said my opinion on that type of people, also meant to right strong minded I believe. Although I have no clue what that means or what I was on about
Puzzle: I say to the barkeep "Zero" and hold up a mirror in front of the coins.
The coins have little patterns, two circles on the top, one on the bottom.
If you put a mirror in front of the coins, the circle patterns in the coins would be wrong
Spoilers
Rewatching the series - in this ep Mark says Yusef met Valla in Horizon, where they lived for a time. Wouldn't Valla already be familiar with Horizon when the party bring her there later? Maybe she was too young to know the place very much.
They're g-not g-nomes, they're g-noblins
One! I'm turning the whole damn table they are on!
Mark Hulmes the master of goblins
Anyone else come over from the podcast just to see marks face as the goblin?
Kim and Katie looking beautiful as always handsome mark and Tom. And that sexy lil mama trott haha, love High rollers!
I just noticed this has been added to the chapter 2 playlist, instead of the proper video.
for anybody who feels bad for these raiders remember they did something bad enough to be exiled and had no problem with killing an injured man for his belongings they where not saints they where murderous thieves
They put their dm on the spot so much
