So, the thing I learned from this session is that we have a party with a Sorcerer who was born and raised in floating cities and an Aarakocra Bard, but neither of them packed Feather Fall. Good watching in the latter half, though the group seemed quite deflated and flat in the first half - hope everyone's feeling alright! I'm also kind of surprised that no-one has really suggested the possibility of finding an intact/stable matrix that Sentry might be able to use to buy herself a few more years... the possibility of that alone would surely seem like enough reason to check, for those that count her a friend, no?
I am from Michigan, but my dad is from Louisiana and he lives there. I'm currently visiting him in Walker and yeah marks accent is so friggin funny, it's like the average American persons British accent impersonation.
Sometimes i don't know if it is the player or the character that's so ignorant. Like the price to fix the dwarf's leg. They basically run around to get the funds for days, how much coins he sits on, really??? Later they figure out they could pay the 300, they don't do it. Wonder why. The faster the dwarf is healed, the better (he would repay them or help them faster)
even when quill only took half damage he got exactly lethal damage, meaning if he had´t made the saving throw he would just had straight up die permanently (on less resurrection) , scary, d&d's most dangerous thing, falling damage.
I can just imagine sentry looking up to try and catch quill but completely misses and quill slams into the ground then she slowly goes down to heal him just in response not saying anything about it while everyone stands there stunned.
While the cavern is not the choice I would have gone with and it proved quite dangerous, I understand and respect sentry's choice because it's her only current link to guardians and she also needs to look to recharge her core. I'm so interested to see if Mark will have them fight "Feral" guardians or even some Sentry might have known...

Mark: "you'll surely find someone in town to sponsor you to go down the chasm" also Mark, in character: "why don't y'all just go down the chasm, what do you need me for?" I'm still wondering.
Probably should've asked someone else. The Scarecrow is pretty clearly focused on one objective, and this expedition to the chasm is irrelevant to her.
Am I the only person who heard “pumpkin with a scythe behind it” and immediately my brain screamed “COME WITH US AND YOU WILL SEE THIS OUR TOWN OF HALLOWEEN”
I just started this on spotify, and then i remembered there's a vod channel for when im home. So I can throw this up at home, and podcast it in the car to work!
Quill could have used his Inspiration for the final climb down to cancel out his disadvantage. (Advantage + Disadvantage = normal roll). Oh, he realized immediately after I said this.
2:16:40 Mark is the audience here (especially the CR audience, god I wish Matt would do this to his players 1000x more. Pro tip, ez way to please viewers is to READ YOUR SHEETS!!!!)
I just want to shake them and get them to go to Naville to find out about the magic spear tip!! The DM has put a neon sign on it and handed them the person who can identify it and probably has the magic supplies that Nova needs, too. He would at least know where to find those things.
I honestly don't agree with them choosing the Chasm with unknown dangers before doing even 1 of the jobs that seem less dangerous and certain cash to help their companion.
Edit: read the replies to see this is wrong Idk if mark is aware but I don’t think Quill actually has 1 arm (obvs up to them if they want him to have lost both limbs but does seem pretty harsh) - if you look at a picture of an Aarakocra they clearly have arms separate to their wings - might be worth remembering in future!!!
yeah, its his character! I just felt sorry for him being a bit gibbed as he's such a fair and inventive player, wasn't clear if that was the full intention pre-campaign (now I know). Certainly does make for and interesting and unique character experience which is exciting (and terrifying) to watch. This kind of fair play, great roll play, and excellent DMing is what's kept me watching since ep 1 of lightfall and every mini campaign I can find!
*sees only 3+1 players* Aight, Who wants to place down their bets if Mark is gonna RP every Aerois High roller we have, by episode 15? I'm betting $30 on yes.
Another fantastic week, everyone. I may have missed episode 5 initially when it was live (which makes me sad, as I was hoping to make it past the twenties before I missed an episode), but I watched it before this stream aired, and now I'm all caught up. Not much to say about the characters these past two weeks, as they have all been great. Everyone was in character, and the new things we've learned about their histories are fantastic (though I'm worried Kim is making up things about Nova's family as she goes along, just so she can get in the conversation. She's still my favorite, and maybe I'm wrong, though I thought I would mention it for possible clarification). Mark's list of great NPCs just keeps getting bigger, and the world history is still holding strong- though it can be confusing at times. Regarding the party's choice of what to do first... not bad, I must say. The reasoning made sense, and this sunken village is sure to be full of loot. That said, I'm surprised you guys made that choice given Mark's history of consequences. "Oh yeah, you guys can explore those ruins, BUT... when you get back to town, you find out that two more shipments have gone missing, and about a third of the livestock has been stolen." Besides that, everything was great, especially good-boy Tom who allowed himself to almost be killed just because he wants to play by the rules (now there's a good player). Here's to the next session, where the players will hopefully take this advice from the Rules of Adventuring: Rule #133- When exploring the ruins of an ancient civilization, especially one that had advanced technology/magic, never split up, otherwise you will face a painful, violent death 94.57% of the time. >common causes are undead, magic constructs, and oozes
Oh, I almost forgot! Regarding your magic spear tip- why don't one of you guys just attune to it? You would find out the properties, and I doubt even Mark would give you something cursed this early in the story (plus, it's not sentient, so no Crownrend scenario is possible). Even character wise, I don't see any reason why any of them would be hesitant to use it. Identify is helpful, but caution is not needed yet, so save it for another day. I hope this is helpful advice.
The DM (Mark? sorry, I'm new) did everything but tell them outright to check with the gnome, who deals in magic and spells before heading to the chasm. I'm surprised Nova in particular wasn't immediately struck by this. Also, why not do one of the jobs (probably the tunnels/beasties), collect the 200, chip in 20 gold each to get the 300, heal Arvel, then invite him along on the other jobs to secure a 6th party member. One armed with a two shot crossbow that could really help with ranged attacks?
One of my characters actually tried to pull what Lucius did with Maximillian on a blacksmith to get his love interest a suit of plate armor and have his family pay for it, I was way more generous than Mark was and let him roll persuasion... he succeeded.
Mark seems a little unfair with some of his rulings, but the group is also not that sensible with decisions. There were also a bunch of rules mistakes but that's a given.
Im not hating or anything, but it seems like theyre having problems getting the whole crew at the table this season, theres been somebody missing almost every week
bruce mccorvey tbh it doesn't seem like the party is as interested? Maybe because the first season was 2 of their first D&D games they were more interested, but overall the in-game characters aren't as interesting backstory or personality wise either.
Zonofv 1 I didn't say anything about the 5 players so I don't know why that reply was aimed at me. I talked about how interested the players seem, especially shown throughout roleplay. There have been moments where Mark has told them to roleplay and there is silence as it seems they are trying to force conversation. Whereas in the previous campaign they were always role-playing without any need to be told, I think that speaks to their investment and interest as players into their characters.
There is one component of the puzzle that doesn't guarantee it's accuracy as presented. "Can you trust the elf's statement to be true?" I mean, do you know and trust this elf? Did you only just meet this elf? Is this elf someone who has never led you astray for many years? Is this elf aware of something that is absolutely true, or is this elf just reciting something they "know" because of information provided to them? I personally approached the puzzle with the prospect of "If I can trust the elf, it's not poison. But since it's pointless to guzzle down an unknown potion on the basis it's not poison, what is to be gained? Much better to take the "potion" and have it identified later. If it's poison, you learn it's poison and that elf was misinformed or misleading; and can probably if one is so inclined to do so, find a way to turn that to a profit; if it's not poison you now have a resource you know what it is and can use it or sell it appropriately. Never implicitly trust a random NPC to be 100% trustworthy and 100% infallible. [Yes, I know this is a 3 year old video. Sorry, I've been busy. I started watching this series about 2 years ago, then got diverted and kept saying "I'll catch up" needless to say, I haven't caught up yet, although I did jump in recently to the Curse of Strahd series with this group, and am almost finished with it. Didn't even realize Rhiannon was the same player because of the switch to that campaign until I was nearly done and finally watched another Aerois episode. What a difference in recognition a year of not seeing someone, then seeing them with a different hair color and different demeanor can cause] [Yes, I've been burned by "creative" DMs before. The kind who think "I'll give you this, then from this you'll accept this, and then you'll desperately reach for this, only to find I withheld a crucial piece of information, because I never told you that this other thing was an option" and think that's clever.] A world of difference between these characters and the assortment I recently found in the Curse of Strahd campaign. Exquisitely fun!
Why would you chose the 2-3 day exploration that will be there later and not the job that will give you 250 gold, get your friend who is in pain and sleeping in a barn healed?
Because they let sentry be the tie-breaker. Obviously, she'd rather investigate the link to her past, and look for something that could potentially keep her from dying in the next 2 years.
So either get massacred by undead or become poisoned/invisible. I’d run then drink it if I have to. Worse case scenario I die but hopefully the poison would kill me before I get stabbed and bludgeoned by skeletons and zombies
I think Lucius considering spending holiday down on the surface is pretty significant character growth considering where he started.

Glad I'm not the only one, I felt pretty sad caused I thought the blatant Kim hate would stop but it's nice to see people actually enjoying nova
5hadow5talker JUI TOEEEEEEEEE
Am I the only person who heard “pumpkin with a scythe behind it” and immediately my brain screamed “COME WITH US AND YOU WILL SEE THIS OUR TOWN OF HALLOWEEN”
I just started this on spotify, and then i remembered there's a vod channel for when im home.
So I can throw this up at home, and podcast it in the car to work!
I CANT BELIEVE THEY LET EVERYONE SLEEP OUTSIDE
1:10:09 after the “adult services” I could just imagine someone saying “did you have a sausage?”
“OH NO! IT’S EXACTLY LETHAL!!”
2:34:05 Kim just pushing Quill's mini after his fall is just *chefs kiss*
the end was such a roller coaster of emotions
Fuck Yes Chris Trott, genuinely great character creator and dedicated (role)player. The essence of what D&D should be.
Lucius is just so freaking cute lol. I love him so much.
I love how Nova is just the purest thing in the world
She scares me when shes mad though
Nova: So what's adult services? :D
Also Nova: They took my sword, I took their lives
1:21:12
Pause for a great reaction image of some daft players offering up their party's lives to the DM. ^^
Quill could have used his Inspiration for the final climb down to cancel out his disadvantage. (Advantage + Disadvantage = normal roll). Oh, he realized immediately after I said this.
2:04:51 HIGH DAMAGE
“My name is Maximilian”
“Oh what a wonderful name”
Oh you have no idea 😂
Rhiannon has such a pretty smile. And she's always smiling.
giggity
Be careful, for the Tomb is dark and full of terrors.
Gotta give that knife wizard a professor oak voice.
It's a potion of invisibility.
Called it. It's just a triple negative. "It's not poison" is a true statement because saying it is untrue is false.
This puzzle was super easy.
Took my less than a second on this one
Looking to try TT/D&D.
Always wanted to play it. Age and nerves always held me back.
Enjoying the videos. On Ep. 14.
Great thumbnail lol.
Mark seems like a dungeon master with a lot of patience but my god he was tested today xD
2:16:40 Mark is the audience here (especially the CR audience, god I wish Matt would do this to his players 1000x more. Pro tip, ez way to please viewers is to READ YOUR SHEETS!!!!)
Nova changed her mind about the chasm quickly
This has been my entertainment for the past week or so! Having a great time!😁
I just want to shake them and get them to go to Naville to find out about the magic spear tip!!
2:11:12 *shouts at screen* Green flame!
No? Anybody? Maybe my dad?
Rosalind said Reld kept the beer cold, so Quill was not mistaken.
Edit: read the replies to see this is wrong
Idk if mark is aware but I don’t think Quill actually has 1 arm (obvs up to them if they want him to have lost both limbs but does seem pretty harsh) - if you look at a picture of an Aarakocra they clearly have arms separate to their wings - might be worth remembering in future!!!
He has one arm, the Aarakocra in Aerois have their wings attached to the arms, so to lose a wing means he loses an arm, too.
Tom Hazell thanks for clearing it up for me! 🙂
And just to be clear, it was Tom's choice. Check the character intro videos.
yeah, its his character!
Mmm, drumsticks
25:14 😂top tier GM move
I'm taking that deflection maneuver
Levitate and climbing a rock wall is awesome. You should be able to pull yourself along and maneuver the wall like nothing.
52k views? OO, HR is getting more and more popular by the day!
His accent for Rosalina makes him sound like Gru from dispicipal me
I imagine sentry runs to where she thinks quill will land and he hits just behind her.
*sees only 3+1 players* Aight, Who wants to place down their bets if Mark is gonna RP every Aerois High roller we have, by episode 15?
I'm betting $30 on yes.
Literally only session 1 has had everyone attending.
I love this series so much
Guiding bolt give advantage on next attack. Handy to remember
HIGH DUMUGE
Nova you poor innocent soul.😂
Lucius sounds like stewie griffin
i love it when they pick on tom for being mean
"Oh yeah, you guys can explore those ruins, BUT... when you get back to town, you find out that two more shipments have gone missing, and about a third of the livestock has been stolen."
Besides that, everything was great, especially good-boy Tom who allowed himself to almost be killed just because he wants to play by the rules (now there's a good player). Here's to the next session, where the players will hopefully take this advice from the Rules of Adventuring:
Rule #133- When exploring the ruins of an ancient civilization, especially one that had advanced technology/magic, never split up, otherwise you will face a painful, violent death 94.57% of the time. >common causes are undead, magic constructs, and oozes
Awww quil that kinda made me sad whe sentry said it probably really selfish of me and quil said I get it
Birb go splat
BLEEN GRAME FLADE
Nova Geologist are scientist too! 😜 ❤
Geologists are scientists, but not all scientists are geologists.
Mark seems a little unfair with some of his rulings, but the group is also not that sensible with decisions. There were also a bunch of rules mistakes but that's a given.
I mean at the time of this it some of these guys first time/ second time playing a proper session of dungeons and dragons
Also there are no rules the dungeon master doesn't agree to that's both the absolute wonder and the horrible horrible problem of ttrpg
I don't need it
I don't need it
I don't need it
I don't need it
I NEED IT
Fancy lanterns for the win
Quil: can we sell the core off the airship
Nova: Try it and get stabbed
Im not hating or anything, but it seems like theyre having problems getting the whole crew at the table this season, theres been somebody missing almost every week
bruce mccorvey tbh it doesn't seem like the party is as interested? Maybe because the first season was 2 of their first D&D games they were more interested, but overall the in-game characters aren't as interesting backstory or personality wise either.
Xolder Nightingale Maybe they just started when a lot of people were going places and on vacation. It is summer after all.
Well Trott and Katie have split up and they said in their post about it that players “will take breaks” so that may be it.
what post? where can i find it?
What a difference in recognition a year of not seeing someone, then seeing them with a different hair color and different demeanor can cause]
[Yes, I've been burned by "creative" DMs before. The kind who think "I'll give you this, then from this you'll accept this, and then you'll desperately reach for this, only to find I withheld a crucial piece of information, because I never told you that this other thing was an option" and think that's clever.]
A world of difference between these characters and the assortment I recently found in the Curse of Strahd campaign. Exquisitely fun!
Tom mentions tusks
Me: Tuskkkkkkkk boiiiiiiiiiiii
Trott’s face is too perfect 1:10:20
So qillek is like the leader of sort? I like to think of it that way lmao
Because DND lol. Nobody does the logical thing.
If there is no moon there. Then why is there a MOON in ye intro??? 🤔
X-Files theme
Ssshhhhhh it doesn't matter...
finally, 3 hours of being able to do nothing
So either get massacred by undead or become poisoned/invisible. I’d run then drink it if I have to. Worse case scenario I die but hopefully the poison would kill me before I get stabbed and bludgeoned by skeletons and zombies
Rip Kobe
Why does Lucius sound like Basil Brush?
"I'm a scientist, not a geologist!" Geologists everywhere feelsbadman
Invisibility. The double negative got negated.
It's a triple negative
Triangles have 3 sides too. ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED.
Watching this at the beginning...flask of invisibility.
