I feel the downsides Quill has for losing his eye should only apply to any perception that involves sight. I doubt losing an eye would impact his ability to hear something.
@@Jake007123 honestly that's the point. The whole wound system seems contrived to make things more difficult. But would you honestly go adventuring if you were missing an arm and an eye? Yeah, I'm pretty sure most places hiring a hit man = murder, not "accessory" or something. If anything doing the hiring is more serious than being the hitman themselves. It kinda felt like the DM was arbitrarily trying to make things harder here, when honestly they did the work to get really clear evidence. Or he was roleplaying the town guard being deliberately difficult because they didn't want to have to arrest Brookstone or they don't actually care about what happens to outsiders, while pretending to be really nice.

I’m catching up..! its only like 300 hours of watching until i’m caught up! really like the fact that i can listen to the podcast at work 👍🏻 confused me when the story suddenly changed, but that was just because A Rogue’s Gambit is mixed in there with the others😊
Yes, weirdly enough they are melee weapons with the thrown property (they are actually the best throwing weapons, they have the most range 30/120) . . . IMO they should be ranged weapons but still require strength, either that or arrows count as daggers
The "Thrown" property is basically the ranged version of the "Finesse" property; it gives the wielder the _option_ of using the alternate physical attack stat. Thrown weapons can give Strength characters a ranged option, while Finesse gives Dexterity characters a melee option. Between this episode and Rogue's Gambit, I don't think Mark knows about the Thrown property.
Daggers have the "thrown" AND the "finnese" property, so you're wrong there, finesse is finesse and thrown is thrown , in the PHB (page 147, in the equipment/weapons section) it says this word for word about thrown weapons - THROWN: If a weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon to make a ranged attack, if the weapon is a melee weapon, you use the same ability modifier for that attack roll and damage roll that you would use for a melee attack with the weapon. for example if you throw a handaxe , you use your strength, but if you throw a dagger, you can use either your strength or your dexterity, since the dagger has the finesse property. (if a thrown weapon doesn't have finesse you have to use strength, just like you can't use strength to shoot crossbows and short/long bows etc...)
well lucius we were able to get your coat back. lucius: "why are their yellow stains and scortch marks" umm i don't think you really want to know about the stains, but they threw it in the fire when they learned of what has tramspired
I know that some find it stupid, that Quill mentioned Finn in front of Brookstone, but I think it was clever. He gave guards reason to arrest him and not letting him of hook.
It was stupid in terms of getting him pissed, but Quill was smart in terms of trying to buy some time and rile him up anyway, since he already knew Bret was not really going to be reasoned with considering he straight up planned to just take over Rosehall.
"You don't have any knives" "Well one of you has to have some" Valla: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT NO ONE HAS ANY KNIVES WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT AHHHHHHH"
Bro I loved Quill this episode, this whole episode was amazing. I was chanting shoot the entire time and when it went down I went ballistic love every moment.
Wow! I have never played with a group that was so invested in NPC's or did so much for the first town they came upon! This is fucking awesome! Oh, and you're pretty good too Mark 😜
I haven't finished watching the fight and I assume you survived since there are more episodes, but darn it, Nova, Heat Metal!!! I usually love your roleplaying, Kim, except when you allow it to jeopardize the team. If I was Nova, I would continually be looking for opportunities to try that power out. I would criticize the others, except I don't have their spell lists! I keep watching, maybe you'll figure it out. 2d8 fire damage per round will cook him in his armor. And get some new dice!!! These ones aren't working for you.
Okay, so you didn't need to, thanks to valla. Might I make a suggestion at level up? You have three spontaneous casters, i.e. a bard, a sorcerer, and a warlock. For the love of all things holy, please get some AOE spells. By swapping out a spell at level-up. And maybe a familiar (Nova, ritual). The familiar can give you advantage on your ranged spell attacks by using the help action and can be a comfort animal for your on-going trauma.
Quil is in a bad situation, he cant fly and has disadv on perception (all arakokra benifits useless) and he has disav on ranged attacks. so now he cant use the gun or alot of his damaging spells. He's been done dirty by bad rolls.
Yeah, sorta seeing that. "hey mark that last enemy didn't one hit me, I think you forgot to factor something in" Oh thanks man, lemme just grab that eye from ya real quick 😂
I know this has been a while since they started but I really is annoying when not everyone is present for the game. Dnd is a huge commitment and it’s rough watching when they aren’t here especially since they still really just started.
@@Ganjamm I don't know what you're on. The last session with a full party was session 8 by 12 episodes in. That's 4 without a full party in a row. Only episodes 1, 2 and 8 had a full party of 5. that's 75% by episode 12 where its missing people. Episode 3 was missing 2 people.
Quill or Sentry. Nova is annoying. I love Kim but her characters are usually annoying with bursts of awesomeness. Trott is awesome too but he stole my idea for a magic using character with a Nobel background and being a pita.
I wish they would have played on Bret not knowing about his sons death a little more. Had they said something like "Your son his still alive, but not for long. On our way back, we found a shallow cave and entombed him using a giant boulder ago about a days ride out of town. It'll take many men to move the boulder so you and the angry mob better get moving if you want to save your son!". Idk something like that could work.
Mark has an amazing ability to world build, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. The voices, the sage advice from NPC's. Just pointing it out 4 years late :)
It's kinda funny that the bedroll thing keeps coming up... Here is two bedrolls on the ground (goliath camp) no one picks them up... After the battle DM says you used one bedroll for bandages... Then you set up camp and have no bedrolls and it's very cold... Bedrolls anyone???
Could Nova transcribe the ritual spell now but be unable to use it till she reaches level 5? You can transcribe spells into scrolls. It wouldn't be difficult to have the man malena scroll of Lesser Mend Injury which Nova could transcribe later into her book. It would cost the same amount. 50 gold per spell level.
qill... is so good at threatening and talking trash... i am not sure if he does it intentionally at this point because he sounds so innocent when doing it.
Blue=6 (proof) if you build the cube in diagram 2 you'll see 6 becomes opposite of 2 and if you look at diagram 1 the first cube shows red yellow orange the second cube yellow red blue the third cube yellow blue purple *note* that green does not make an appearance thus indicating that it is opposite of yellow and purple is also opposite of red that said return to the second diagram and color it in according to the information given. And to make sure I'm not mad I physically recreated it and bada bang bada boom
Gee wouldn't it be nice if they could just take just oh i don't know a really small jerry rigged air craft so they wouldn't have to go through the other town?
Feels like an excessive amount of attempted de-escalation. Maybe my sessions just tend to be a bit darker, but I found myself rolling my eyes through most of the RP dialogue that involved trying to make Pheela understand and Brett calm down. Just get some and get 'er done!

(if a thrown weapon doesn't have finesse you have to use strength, just like you can't use strength to shoot crossbows and short/long bows etc...)
1:40:42 Punished Quill, a bird denied his perception.
"Why are we still here? Just to suffer?"
But the birdman gets a bonus to SCRAW!!!
SCRAW being the technical term for an intimidating bird.
well lucius we were able to get your coat back.
lucius: "why are their yellow stains and scortch marks"
umm i don't think you really want to know about the stains, but they threw it in the fire when they learned of what has tramspired
Just got a pizza delivered right as this episode comes out.
Pizza + HR = GoodTime
Root vegetables + High Rollers = Super good time
@@mme.veronica735 anything you can fucking eat+high rollers = good time
As someone currently eating pizza and watching, I could not agree at much
Yeah, I'll be sure to enjoy this in a year when I've finished the original High Rollers series; I'm only on episode 8!
oof
They're not connected. You could catch up on this one and go back and watch the old one in between new episodes.
Almost finished my second watch of the original series, it is solid
Everybody dies
Ah rip
That scene at the jail had such a wild west theme, loved it!
Phenomenal episode! I can't wait to see how Quill gets on at the temple in gold throne.
"You don't have any knives"
"Well one of you has to have some"
Valla: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT NO ONE HAS ANY KNIVES WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT AHHHHHHH"
So anyone seeing a parallel between Kim's and Matt's uses of Suggestion in confrontations?(People of Rosehall and Autumn Spire Elves respectively.)
#VoteBirdieForUnofficialLeader
Now this is something I can get behind!
This is my very first experience with D&D and it’s fucking mind blowing. You lot are amazing and Mark if a fucking GOD
just saying that a 100gp Pearl would make a pretty cool eyeball replacement
That is a great idea!
Oh yes!
Ive seen that meme xD except it was.
"Killua what do you have!"
"A knife!" :D
"YEEEEES!"
😂
Quil is in a bad situation, he cant fly and has disadv on perception (all arakokra benifits useless) and he has disav on ranged attacks. so now he cant use the gun or alot of his damaging spells. He's been done dirty by bad rolls.
but I can't help but feeling that was mostly his own doing because of his incessant brown-nosing.
Yeah, sorta seeing that. "hey mark that last enemy didn't one hit me, I think you forgot to factor something in"
Oh thanks man, lemme just grab that eye from ya real quick 😂
@@TortillaBill That you call honesty "brown-nosing" says what kind of player you are.
i cant wait for a full party geez
maybe in 20 episodes
I know this has been a while since they started but I really is annoying when not everyone is present for the game. Dnd is a huge commitment and it’s rough watching when they aren’t here especially since they still really just started.
Literally last session. 🙄
@@christmas83 I caught up and attendance is much better
I've been on the edge of my chair this whole episode.. Amazing!
Catching up on this... I hope they get around to updating the character portraits in the bottom right. They are level 3 not 2!
Good episode
Even this far in, I can't decide on a favourite character
Sentry or Lucius.
Nova is my favourite
_Probably_ Nova, Quill or Lucius...
Quill or Sentry. Nova is annoying. I love Kim but her characters are usually annoying with bursts of awesomeness. Trott is awesome too but he stole my idea for a magic using character with a Nobel background and being a pita.
Fair, but I personally find Nova more endearing than annoying
Poor Nova. Kim is doing a great job. If anyone still sees this. I'm only 130 episodes behind.
Me at like 180+ ep behind 🫠
Great episode!! Spottng more character development!
when brett was in the vines at the start I thought that qillek was going to say like father like sun
I love this SO much
Practically stayed up all night to watch this, every second was worth it and I can’t wait till the next one
Speaking of infected... Are Nova's hands still a thing?
Lucius: *talking about medical equipment''
priest:*No tools, pure faith''
Love the smell of D&D in the morning..
The eye patch could have had the symbol of hesper
U ever killed 15 pesents cause let's roll initiative
Mark has an amazing ability to world build, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. The voices, the sage advice from NPC's. Just pointing it out 4 years late :)
I forgot how much I missed Katie until I saw her again,
Loving this series.
Wow this is a really good dnd story love the amazing work love u guys
After 4 months, I finally caught up !!!
Aila: Caaan we hit him!?
Me:
Nova gives off an abstract sense of fear in this video, I think it’s the kind of emotionless seriousness and the monotone voice that she speaks in
qill... is so good at threatening and talking trash... i am not sure if he does it intentionally at this point because he sounds so innocent when doing it.
Lady Vale... She doesn't happen to have an incredibly annoying child, and have an undying love for Brett does she?
This was a GoT reference btw.
Just remember everyone, always do damage.
Thank you
OBJECTION!!! 2:42:55
the only message i got out of the last few episodes is never split the party
Trott in that Iron Maiden shirt🤘
So one thing I've learnt from watching this
Sentry is a great hugger
Quill* "HE TOOK MY FUCKING EYE!!!!"
Loving the story btw
It’s a glass eye!!!!!
... A glass eye!!!!!
Feels like an excessive amount of attempted de-escalation. Maybe my sessions just tend to be a bit darker, but I found myself rolling my eyes through most of the RP dialogue that involved trying to make Pheela understand and Brett calm down. Just get some and get 'er done!
1:48:43 Mark makes a legendary lighting sound right as the background music drops... OMFG best boss fight ever!!!
The hell. Now where is sentry?! How many episodes have we actually had everyone here?!
2, I think, maybe 3
In fighting scenarios there's only one thing to do: fighting xD
nothing scares them off quit like divine fire....
At 2:21:45 is a very interesting point, idk how many people would consider themselves religious but that’s true for even Christians. Even we question our faith and we grow stronger through that. It’s cool seeing this idea in a secular setting.
Aila goes off and meets the "Highlander Elf"
This is killing me, I am too much a neutral character. These guys are such willows.....
I've never seen a group of people who get away with more days off
D&D Beyond, Brilliant. B&B. Bret Brookstone. Brilliant is an evil company.
Brilliant leaves on episode 12. 1+2=3. A triangle has 3 sides. Brilluminati confirmed.
The prisoner reminds me of Draco malfoy: "When my father hears about this"
next he is going to lose his leg
Glad I’ve found this series.....but I kept shouting use heat metal!
"If you let us go, then we'll tell you where your son is, _and you can give him a proper burial, if otherwise, then, like father like son_." *Holy Fucking Shit*
That was an awesome line. Like Quill lost an eye and is now badass!
