The very first time you play and get spotted it surpises the hell out of the player . then you have the fear of being spotted with you from then on. Yet the theme is so gud it actually gets you pumped when you are fleeing for your Life.

Since then, I played through MGS1,2,3,4,Portable Ops,Peace Walker,Ground Zeroes and the eventual release of The Phantom Pain. I. 2015 at 25yrs old, I want to thank Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, and Konami, for bringing me a series I've grown up with since childhood.
Ha! I was 4/5 years old. Late 98, and into 1999. I loved this game as a child. This game and Syphon Filter were my favorite action shooters at the time. But Syphon Filter was nothing compared to Metal Gear.

The music in this game was so amazing. Subtle choices made by the writers have a huge impact. For example the resonant echo that is added to this music gives you a sense of space, like it is being played into a giant warehouse, like it's something Snake can actually HEAR as he is hiding in a big metal base from enemies, which somehow makes it more thrilling. The percussion is solid and blocky, sounding less like a drum set and more like the large clunking of machinery, like you can actually hear gigantic mechanisms engaging within this huge industrial complex. It all combines with the rapid pulsing tempo to give you a sense that you are there, running with hollow, booming footsteps through a giant metal cage. For PS1 era, with such limited capabilities, this track alone shows us why MGS was such an amazing game.

The music in this game was so amazing. Subtle choices made by the writers have a huge impact. For example the resonant echo that is added to this music gives you a sense of space, like it is being played into a giant warehouse, like it's something Snake can actually HEAR as he is hiding in a big metal base from enemies, which somehow makes it more thrilling.
The percussion is solid and blocky, sounding less like a drum set and more like the large clunking of machinery, like you can actually hear gigantic mechanisms engaging within this huge industrial complex. It all combines with the rapid pulsing tempo to give you a sense that you are there, running with hollow, booming footsteps through a giant metal cage. For PS1 era, with such limited capabilities, this track alone shows us why MGS was such an amazing game.
