Thank you for these easy step-by-step videos! You are a good teacher, explaining things slowly and easily, and also telling why things need to be done the right way, and what mistakes beginners make. I went through about an hour some basic stuff with no sport experience, and I was able to follow everything easily. It was fun! I will definitely start to do this at home :)
One of the best I've seen for beginners. By far. I have been training for 2 months and I seem to have a problem with shadow boxing. Im told my shoulders are twoo stiff, or Im not rotating my left shoulder enough when throwing the right. I have no idea how to control these things
Nat Anon thanks for commenting and for watching. I would worry about being too stiff, you'll definitely loosen up in time. Just have fun with it and keep at it. Before you know it your shadow boxing will look smooth and fluid :)
Great video, very educational. Watching you from the perspective you chose is, something I haven't seen anywhere else, But I am just today looking for these types of videos.
Hey Mike, your channel is great. I started boxing in at a gym in Newark New Jersey. Most people I spat with are open class amateurs and are really tough. Your videos help explain things I learn at the gym because they move at a fast pase over here. Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to check out this channel. Don't worry sparring with open class amateurs will up your game really quick. The most important thing is to just stay calm and focused and to have fun with it : )

Lol... no it’s not that intense. Yet it is a great full body workout. It does burn a lot of calories. Perhaps 15 minutes of jogging but not an hour. Thanks for watching 😎😎😎
On days I have too low motivation to go to the gym but still a sliver of excess energy I go out on a power walk to spend that energy. The problem is that I have this thing that, for whatever reason, I get a strong desire to randomly stop and just start shadowboxing. I fight to stop myself because I'm too aware of my surroundings and at the same time terrified of being silently judged by someone that happens to see me. It's winter where I live right now and there are troves of plowed snow lining the sidewalks in my neighborhood. 1-2m tall in most places. This one time a lump of (what I thought was) powder snow looked funny at me so I gave it a left hook. A chunk of the ice ball split off by the punch and when it landed on the ground it shattered. My left knuckles were throbbing for the rest of that walk but when I got home I saw no injuries.
Lol…. I live in Canada and I have given some left hooks to some snowman over the years as well. As for the shadowboxing… I say go for it. Let people think whatever they want 😎 Thank you again for taking the time to comment and I hope that your training is going well😎😎
@@fightyourwayfit Well, as a matter of fact, last Friday I expanded my training regime due to old one not tiring me out as much as I wanted. Who would have thought, two months of going to the gym makes you build stamina. ;) Old regime contained 950 punches. New one contains 1300 punches. Friday night my left longfinger knuckle hurt quite a bit if I moved the finger or any adjacent one. On Saturday there were so much swelling that the index finger- longfinger- and ringfinger knuckles looked like one single knuckle. I passed working the heavy bag on Sunday because I didn't wanna risk any bigger injury.
Lol…. They should. I would love to be in some video games…. I could use the money.😊 Thank you for taking the time to watch and for taking the time to comment. 😎😎😎

Thanks for commenting;Shadow boxing is a great way to warm up and you could do 3 rounds to start every one of your boxing sessions. depending on the level of fighter some guys train 6 days a week and probably do a bit of shadow every one of those days.
If you feel comfortable doing that then nope it's not wrong. Normally left handed people will lead with their right hand and keep their power left and foot to the rear. Yet, there are some great boxers like Lomancheno who are right handed and still lead with their right foot. If you feel more comfortable leading with your right foot forward and left foot back...then that is perfectly fine : )
+Everlast Nutrition thanks i was asking because i heard alot of people say the creatine could cancel out the glutamine because they rely on some of stuff in the body to work
I ve seen people post that same theory before but it's unfounded. Many nutrition companies have glutamine and creatine in their post workout mixes. The only thing i would suggest is that there is already close to 5 grams of glutamine in most whey protein shakes and so you may want to save your money unless you find that it is really helping your recovery.
It’s absolutely OK. You don’t need to go to a boxing gym to shadowbox. It’s a great workout that you could enjoy pretty much anywhere. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch😎😎😎

Hi,
first of all thank you very much for such great guidance and explanations...
I would like to know if it's possible to shift from Orthodox to southpaw since my left shoulder got injured?
I'm trying to do that but not much videos about southpaw stance.
what advice you can provide in my case?
You can definitely switch to a south paw stance while you let your shoulder heal. Something is always better than nothing and it's definitely wise to keep training than to completely take a break.
If you are only hitting the bag then just do everything in reverse by leading with your right hand but.... if you are going to spar or fight then you will need to make a few mental changes...for starters you will want to circle your opponent in the opposite direction and clinch to the opposite shoulder. Your straight left cross will also become your most valuable weapon as you can throw it right down the center through your opponent's guard also landing your jab may be more challenging.
This is a great question and it is going to be difficult to answer in words.. but perhaps i can make a whole video about this subject one day.... thanks for giving me the idea :)
Can you specify the importance of lifting the rear heal? and make a video about 4-5 punch combinations advising on how to keep the balance during the flurries?+ a video about the shovel hook would be sweet too ;-)
Great suggestions for some future videos ... thank you : )
The importance of lifting the rear heel is two fold;
1- It will increase your mobility, especially when you explode forward towards the target. Because your heel is up you can push off of the ball of your foot to propel yourself forward... It also makes pivoting off of the front foot easier.
2-It will increase the power of punches thrown with the rear hand. Because that heel is up off the floor it is easier to push off the floor with the ball of your foot and rotate your core. It is the rotation of the body that generates the real power for the punches.
thanks man, it also helps me to better understand this "When asked of the difference between modern fighters and those of his own time such as Joe Gans, Jim Corbett and Peter Jackson, Jack Johnson forcefully stated that it was all about stance. "Stance is not only the secret of scientific boxing, it is the key to real hard punching too.""
That's a great quote !!
Thanks alot but could you tell me that if we should use the hips while step jabbing??
You could use the hip after you plant your lead foot but it may slow you down. I would recommend using the hip if you are not moving but if you are step jabbing then perhaps it let it go as your forward momentum will still give your jab power.
you have a very similar stance to sean sherk!! thank you for the lesson:)
Thanks for watching :)
I was shadow boxing in front of the mirror once and imagined trading blows.. equal force and everything lol
Nice😎😎😎😎🙂thanks for watching
do i have to look up mike gales
Should we move our hips while throwing jab??
There are many variants to the jab, yet if you are jabbing in place and looking to jab with power then a slight quick internal rotation of your hip as you jab will increase the force of your jab. If you are moving forward as you jab then you will not be able to do that yet an explosive push from the rear foot to propel you forward will ensure that your jab has significant momentum as you go forward.

hey Mr, I asked u, on footwork, what if u start with right foot in front, and left foot is on back,,,,this is how I stand, am I wrong?
If you feel comfortable doing that then nope it's not wrong. Normally left handed people will lead with their right hand and keep their power left and foot to the rear. If you feel more comfortable leading with your right foot forward and left foot back...then that is perfectly fine : )
