This was deleted? Must have been added back in for the dvd. Goodman plays these roles to the hilt. Switching gears from business man to bad dad....keeps blood and business seperate. There's a difference between COLD and COOL and Goodman covers both beautifully!
It wasn’t included in the original theatrical cut of the film but was added back in for the unrated version as part of the home release which might be what you’re thinking of. But yes, 100% agree with your opinions of Goodman. He has such a great range as an actor and is always entertaining in whatever project he’s a part of.
Wow, this could have been the best scene in the movie had it been left in. No matter how badass you think you are, a tough father can reduce you down to zero in a flash. I had no idea John Goodman had this in him.
Goodman is an absolute powerhouse performer. I've loved him since Roseanne. He brings the character to life. I had to get this film on DVD to watch and own the complete cut. What a film.
I have this movie. And this scene is included in the actual movies, not just extras. I decided to watch today, but didn't want to search through boxes to watch dvd, so watched online and (*wailing*) IT WASN'T ON THERE! 😭😭
Psychology is not a hard science. For every postulate advanced by one psychologist an opposite will be advanced by another psychologist. Which is why you'll have Billy and Lilly both being treated for the same emotional issue but the course of treated that worked for Billy did not work for Lilly. Bottom line? I wouldn't consider profound anything anyone of them says.
Not sure, that sound wasn't there when I watched the movie, recorded the section, or put it in the video editor. It only happened after I uploaded it to RUclips, quite strange.
i think they wanted to save the reveal that he was the gang dude's dad for the gun-buying scene ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=death+sentence+gun+shop+scene
Any single one of them could've killed him, and, they wanted too. You could see it in their eyes. But, none of them were going to make a move with Billy standing right there. They all know who Billy's dad is, but they're more afraid to step wrong around Billy, than they are afraid of making a wrong move around his father.
@@joshua5555 I think Billy would've eventually killed his father, had he lived longer. And, I agree; everyone in Billy's gang is scared of his father. But, I think Billy scares them even more. Billy is the only one to show his old man a look of defiance, and the only one to look his dad in the eye. I can see Billy trying to contain himself, and not kill his own father in this scene.

I love how John Goodman has settled so effortlessly into playing unsettling villains as he's gotten older.
hes a 9.6 on the unsettling meter
Check out Barton Fink. It’s always been there.
nothing new, ever heard of Karl Madman Mundt?
Hes played them younger
Yeah I ain’t gon lie I channeled some of that in my last job lol
“Well he’s the lucky one, ain’t he?” Total badass.
That scene is great.and gives me several emotions.
This is just how John Goodman showed up to work daily.
Never shoulda been removed! Goodman proved he’s a hell of a dynamic actor in this movie.
I can watch John Goodman read the phone book on stage for 90 minutes, and not look at my watch once......
Me too
and this my friends, is what we call hyperbole. OK, on to our next word . . .
I actually like how goodman was pretty much telling them
NOT to go any further with the killings 1:59
I'm so mad this scene was cut. John Goodman steals this movie every single time he's on screen.
Favorite scene😂
Everyones a badass until dad pulls up..

Best Goodman scene ever. 💎

1.51 Garrett cries, true emotion of a great actor.
Then he finally gets sick of it and puts a slug through his old man's domepiece
Yesss
John Goodman seems like such a nice guy that you forget he's practically a damn kaiju
Waking up to your morning needle. Damn thats badass!
“8 year olds dude..”
😹
Way to make the fucking papers!
Idk why they left this scene out. It’s fucking amazing
Probably to keep it a secret until the gunshop scene
He was jawing at all of them but he did kiss his son on the forehead
Love john goodman in this!!!
"You're entering a world of pain."
John Goodman to me is such an underrated actor. He doesn't deserve as much credit as he should get. I always enjoyed him in the show, Rosan.
The contrast and choice in hue color really helped paint the mood for this movie.
Any other action films that have this kind of tone in them?
“Go with god and a bag full of guns” that was my favorite quote of Goodmans from this whole movie 😂
0:29-0:30 the delivery in John’s voice is majestic ✨🤣
John Goodman is one of the most underrated actors of our generation. Never puts in a poor performance, frequently stealing scenes.
Fantastic.:-):-D I want to get that version dvd of Death Sentence.
love the tape on the glasses

Strange indeed.
Have you never heard of extended cuts of a movie? There is a theatrical version and an extended cut.
1:25-1:31 An inspirational quote indeed.
It's probably deleted because Garrett never cries.
Peter Griffin sure knows how to motivate his work force
Man, he is a great actor.
John Goodman was really good in this movie!
Him chewing the gum was more irritating than him spitting it
A man can never trully be a man as long as his father is alive. Some famous psychologist said that and not in those words

They should’ve put this scene in the movie..what a great actor John Goodman is
Who else gets happy of John Goodman's foul mouth.
The only reason I can think of for this scene being cut is for pacing reasons. That's the most common one.
Goodman is GOATED in this movie
1:56 - 2:01 That's a motto to live by.
Really good flick. This scene seems like it would have fit in perfectly. Not a J Goodman fan, but he’s perfect in this film.
Definitely should have left this scene in. It makes the gunshop scene way more believable.
I think they wanted a twist but that adds nothing to an otherwise good movie.
this is one of the most unconvincing scenes in movie history, how did the director think this was good, he didn't its deleted, right now I got it. . .
Was he from Monsters Inc?
Sully lol
