Thanks for another great video. You provide so much information. I was curious how you got there...cab ride sounds like the way to go! It's nice that Ohrid is so close to Pogradec that you and April can visit a few times a year for a nice get-away. That pedestrian walkway was indeed very nice. Thanks again, take care.

@@patrickoverseas I can definitely see the benefits for an American living in Albania. With Ohrid so close (and shopping malls) depending on the prices, you and April may be better off shopping there without having to travel all the way to Tirana. Bringing merchandise back through the border may be a problem if they charge import duty. One more thing for you to research (ain't retirement grand?). Small purchases for personal use may not be a problem, as long as it doesn't look like you are stocking a retail store.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. Take care.

@@CraigRitter-l2x They never asked for anyting at the border. Just our passports. I didnt even have to get out of the cab.

Food is cheap like Albania. I was only there for a few days, but we will be back often. We love the place.

All the Ohrid pearls you are looking at are well known and very popular for their beauty and low cost. They are NOT natural pearls, but man made from shells. I sold a few strands of these pearls as they were popular in the US as they cost about a tenth of the price of the high quality Mikimoto pearls I used to sell when I worked in the jewelry industry. Looks like a place I would fall in love with for sure!!

I did ask someone. He said real , but brought here and polished here???? i dont know what to make of it.

@patrickoverseas a natural pearl doesn't need to be polished, so that seems very suspicious to me. A really good strand of pearls such as Japanese Mikimotos cost thousands of dollars. Most of the man made strands I was selling ran about $100. Maybe something got lost in the translation? I could tell if they were real if I were there...🧐

@@patrickoverseas The Ohrid pearls are very famous; the secret of their beauty and value is the coating on the "pearls", a recipe known only to 2 families in Ohrid. The recipe was obtained from a Russian many years ago.

Absolutely beautiful, even with the drizzle! I've been in Durres now since the first of January and have only ventured out for a pizza to eat, I think I would love to try the fish here and man oh man a steak sounds good! I mostly cook and sometimes I feel like I am missing out on all the local cuisine. Yesterday I walked about an hour and a half to check out the Amphitheater, it was incredible! It drizzled here today also so I chose to stay in and do my laundry, luckily this unit has a drier! A luxury not to be taken for granted! lol, I hope to be in Pogradec in the middle of February for that coffee...As always, thank you for sharing with us all...

Yes its cool to travel to different countries in less then 1 hour ,and in 1 hour you gone be at the Greece border too, and i suggest you to visit Castoria too, the small town in Greece. Pogradec, its a strategic point in the map, for people who love to travel around and see different countries. In 1 hour you can go in Ohrid, a city with a low cost airport, Skopje the capital of FYROM its 210 km away , at the other direction you can visit Kastoria thats only 100 km away, and Thessaloniki thats only 280 km away , and Tirana 130 km , Durres 160 km away.
