Very amazing car. I really like it, especially keeping it Ford Powered, can just imagine if that 460 was fully built up, with a nice set of Kaase SR-71 Heads, and a nice Stroker Kit, all designed for single turbo. Those 429-460 BBF,S are great foundations to build a rock solid engine, that'll make as much power as you want. I use to mess around with the Clevelands for years, then about 11-12 years ago got into the 460 Fords, The Torque of the big block was so different than the Clevelands, and i still spun my 521 Stroked BBF up to 7200 rpm with no issues, went into a 3000 lb. 86 Fox Body, went Low to Mid Nines on a 275/60 Drag Radial, N/A through a 4150 Pro-Systems Carb, still with a Built C-4, and 8.8 rear. Still all FORD Drivetrain too. I really wanna do a Large Single Turbo myself with the BBF, i Love your Set-up, Very nice work on the Headers and everything.
I am so glad to see you kept the leaf springs, so many CLOWNS go with that piece of JUNK 4 link/j-bar welded suspention. Watch y-tube to see how many of those welded suspentions BREAK and the rearends fly out from under the car. The stock 4 link in my 89 5.0 Mustang almost killed me TWICE. There is a Y-tube channel which features Old-school Gassers being raced in the SouthEast , ALL leafspring cars. Go strait and not one lost rearend.
Love the build . I have a similar setup in a 65 fairlane . If im not mistaken u talked to me at myrtle beach car show last year or year before. Glad to see someone else doing bbf stuff
I seriously love this car. Was looking up turbo builds because I'm building a 460 turbo bullnose. Funny enough I'm using the same fi-tech unit, slightly different intake but almost the same otherwise, same heads, ect. Keep up the good work man, awesome car.
That's a nice ride love how the engine is stock I'm sure if your going to turn the boost up your going to need better head gaskets and head studs instead of factory bolts but if it works for you it's all that matters
I love it. Looks awesome! But you know what we want - we need to hear it running! (Edit: Ah found it in another video. Would be cool to hear it clear in this video too)
Dude that is so good.. thanks you for doing normal but cool rig with a 460.. I am doing the same thing minus the turbo to a custom rat rot that started as a 27ft 1987 e350 carb motorhome d3 heads as well. Zero emissions.
@@christiangriffin4869 omg it's a dream come true. Like yours without turbo and you can take a dump in the washroom if needed lol. Ive watched this video atleast 10 times in last year, it's been my Inspiration to go EFI turbo on my 460 foxbody. Such a simple setup here that works. Love it!
That was the motor in our drivers ed. car in high school back in the70's the torque would make the car jump up on the left and go down on the right no shocks could stop that monster from twerking!
Sick car dude....love that so much of your motor is stock Ford stuff.. my question is do you get valve floating and subsequent power loss around 5500 to 6000 rpm with this combo?I'm working on a similar engine and was interested in your opinion on roller rocker and gnarly valve springs
Nice build. I am working on my 65 Fairlane. Its a road worthy car that I want to make track worthy. Im thinking the original 289 rebuilt with a turbo will be sufficient for what I want.
Great job on this old 202! I'm working on a '65 202 for a friend now but it's going to stay stock. Paint that thing Candy Apple Red! The 'rat rod' look is poop. If you can afford all of the mechanical upgrades, you can come up with scratch to get her looking fabulous. :)
@@christiangriffin4869 I needed dome D3 heads for my van. The engine core supply brought out some F3 castings. I wanted to compare intake bolt pattern with a D3 head while I was in the back with the worker pulling a D3 somebody bought the F3s and was gone with them before I could get back to the front.
Question. At only 8 PSI and TBI injection, doesn’t the sprayed fuel cool off the heated air? And are you using the alcohol injection just when making runs at the track? I ask because I have the same setup on 69f100 and have a fitech 600pa system and haven’t had any issues, yet. Thanks for your time and really nice ride!
Thank you! In theory, yes the fuel being injected should be absorbing some heat and aiding in reducing the iats. However, I have no way to measure how much heat it is carrying. I use the alcohol injection as my primary means of cooling the intake charge while also increasing the octane of the fuel being consumed.
I have a 64 Comet and am wanting to do an engine swap. I don’t know what I want to put in it yet, but I am curious about how you made the hood. That’s awesome and would give more than enough room to repair the engine without pulling it out.
Go for it! The tilt front end is very nice for working on the car. It took a good bit of time to get working just right though. Also since I no longer have inner fenders the engine bay gets dirty very fast while driving. But for what I do with the car it works out great.
Did you get into the exhaust seats ? I have been reading because I could have for free a 460 from a 80-85 f250. I read that the hard layer onthe seats are very thin. I want to do some porting.
I didnt touch the seats in these heads so they are original besides a quick and dirty valve job. Ive never heard that about these heads; however, that doesnt mean its not true. Either way, I wouldnt pass up a free 460! Thanks for watching!
What's the peak rpm you run? I'm building a 1974 2wd 3/4 ton I plan to run a stock bottom end with dove-c heads stealth intake and a s475 turbo with intercooler and holley tbi. I haven't figured out the cam yet I would like to run roller cam bearings and roller lifters I was hoping to spin up to 7000 rpm but I don't know if that's something I can achieve or not still figuring out all the details I need to research what ring gap I'll need for no more than 10psi of boost I don't intend on having more than 9.25:1 cr with the .030+ pistons I have already in the block. Any thoughts?
What is the estimated power numbers and cam specs. I want to do a similar turbo 460 build but drop it in a OBS short bed F150 and make a Lightning clone.
Love this build! What does the compressor and exhaust wheel measure on this bht3b? Also what size is the exhaust housing? I have an HT3B I was going to slam on a 454 with the 32cm housing. Thanks!
How did you set up the front end? I’m sure it’s probably mustang 2 but did you use the original frame and beef it up or do something else? I’ve owned a bunch of 63 and 64 comets and a 68 Torino and the original suspension was crappy
Gee!! Wizz!! Love the attention to detail!! I would fix a daily driver curvy road GT road race machine!! Out of this fine platform !! Drag racing is Fun but doesn't last long enough?? I used to drag race , now I'm love driving curvy well paved road or flat out on the interstate for hours!!

I am am having trouble with routing my headers. I also have power steering which limits my space. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Its was my first set and they wernt too bad to make. Get a kit, take your time, and plan everything out. Before you know it you've got a perfect fitting header and a part to be proud of.
