Great bands - Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath. But where Heep left the others for dead was in the vocal harmonies - all the guys could sing. They were a totally unique band. Even though they had some of the heavy rock & blues sound - they also had melody!!

Uriah Heep suggestions: Gypsy, Bird of Prey, Lady in Black, Look at Yourself, Easy Livin' and The Wizard just to get started. Classic era Uriah Heep were terrific, they had singer and personnel changes over the decades and the current lineup is still awesome, but stay with early Heep for now, as there is five decades of Uriah Heep music.

Yep the late 60s to 82 is a span that had so many artist that could come up with so much with country music included and I will say that because of the Outlaw Era with Willie and Waylon and funk soul blues Parliament /Funkadelic and new wave and rock experimentation that you could go on a listening binge for a life time of awesome stuff but there was that sweet spot as you say from 68 to 73 that does stand alone ..
