Pronounced "You-Rye-Uh, Biz." One of my favorite bands of the early '70s, and "Stealin'" is a great example of the band at its best. Their biggest hit was 1972's "Easy Livin'" which got up to number 39 in the US. Heep also had a big live album come out in '73 and I hope you'll play "Sweet Lorraine" from that album. Almost impossible to sit still to that one!

There's so much to get into with Uriah Heep like, "The Wizard", "Sweet Lorraine", "Poet's Justice", "Bird Of Prey", "Easy Livin'", Circle Of Hands", "Sunrise" and "July Morning", "Stealin'" is one of their best, thanks for this reaction!

In the 70`s Uriah Heep were one of the hottest bands here in Europe. They had their breakthrough with the song "Gypsy" and "Look At Yourself". I personally really liked "Magicans Birthday" and used to put it on my own before work until my 25th birthday the morning of my own birthday. My lightly older brother didn't like the music that much but he liked that I always played it for myself ;-)). Best regards @all from hamburg (germany)

It is a shame that when David exited UH, 90% of those who say he was the best never followed the rest of his Solo Career, or Rough Diamond period. I have always wondered why?

The first time legendary Neil Peart hit the big stage with RUSH was opening up for Uriah Heep before 12,000 fans in Pittsburgh. Peart had only been in the band for like 2 weeks at that point. Talk about nerve wracking! lol That must have been some night for the band playing in front of a huge crowd for the first time. Neil was reportedly impressed by Uriah Heep as well.

Back in the day, me & my buddies would be ridin' around in the car, and we'd start singing "Stealin" and the ooh-hoos & aahs. Great song.
I grew up and got married and had kids... well, I got married and had kids... When my kids were just grade-schoolers, I taught them how to count music. I used this song! 🙂
    Stea-lin' 3 4, 1 2 3 4, Stea-lin' 3 4, 1 2 3 4...
What a dichotomy: My two favorite bands, FAR above ALL others, are Uriah Heep and The Doors.

The first 3 albums are all fine tunes. So 1972 or 73. Saw Uriah Heep open for Deep Purple. Buddy Miles was the second act. Buddy saves many people's LSD minds, and sanity that night. Uriah Heep had most folks running for the doors to escape from Uriah's sound, sonic concussions. Folks were hitting anything but the doors. The deal is Deep Purple was the third-best act that night. Overseas when first U.H. and lucked out seeing them in California. Days of 'Nam were Rock & Roll Night & Days.

    It's pronounced Yer-ry-ah
Our first band covered quite a bit of Heep. We might have been the only ones on Long Island that played more than Just Easy Livin' which we removed because others were including it. We covered Gypsy, The Wizard, Circle of Hands, Stealin', Sweet Lorraine, Sunrise, Look At Yourself, and Suicidal Man, among others... Uriah Heep was such a great band, especially during the golden era with the rhythm section of Gary Thain and Lee Kerslake. RIP Gary Thain, David Byron, Lee Kerslake, Ken Hensley.

Hey Biz, since you've gotten so many great requests for more Uriah Heep, I'd like to suggest another artist. I believe you've reacted to the band "Ten Years After" the lead singer of the band was Alvin Lee. Ten Years After had success releasing ten albums together but by 1973 Lee was feeling limited by the bands style. Moving to Columbia Records had resulted in a radio hit song "I'd Love To Change The World" but Lee preferred blues-rock as opposed to the pop style the label preferred. However, Lee played with "Ten Years After" off and on until 2003. Here's a live performance of him performing one of his solo hits featuring George Harrison "Alvin Lee - The Bluest Blues ft. George Harrison (HD 720p" Loving those blues

Our band went camping. We had an acoustic guitar and lots of beer. We're in the tent messing around with harmony in the first part of the song. The wind was blowing like the Wizard of Oz movie. It got deathly quiet
Whooosh. The tent went straight up in the air and the rain started hammering. We had an old Ford pickup. Five of us soaking wet, scared shitlees and very sober by now were all in the cab of that pickup. 3 am started for home . By the time we vot there the rain stopped and the sun was out. No idea where the tent landed. Ah the good old days
