Neither of them care about these types of competitions, I mean they can do very well if they wished (like the speed whisking), I think they just don't see the point here.
Brad has said many times that likes to enjoy the cooking process. And Chris is one of the few people at BA that is actually adulting.

Back in the day when people used to have jobs we would play word games during the team huddle, play bingo to see who got holidays off, and have interdepartmental "decorate your offices for the holidays" and pumpkin carving contests. The executive team even put on a BBQ for us all once or twice, with them grilling all the food.

It's how they focus. Brad needs to stop talking so he doesn't get distracted. Christ finds it helpful to lend voice to thought so he can organize them and make sure he's getting every item, one by one.
I think Chris was trying to be mindful of keeping us in the loop, which I appreciated, but it did mean it took longer.
