I saw Drew in these out on the street. He locked eyes with me, clenched his first and sprinted at me, paralysing me from the waist down with his godly speed. Great guy, would love to meet him again
As someone in a wheelchair who can’t walk I personally really appreciated the tutorial on how to walk I mean come on how do you expect me to walk in moonwalkers if I don’t know how to walk?!?!?
I’d say this isn’t a horror story since I can imagine many many people buying these shoes and quickly not liking them, so trying to recoup some of their money spent by selling them. I think much more scary would be “for sale- one pair of moon shoes, fully cleaned and refurbished” AND, (me from the future, whoops I didn’t know I had a rant in my heart on this subject) on the note of the baby shoes for sale being a sad story, those people must not have had a baby or taken care of many babies bc you can end up having multiple baby showers (one from coworkers, one from friends, one from dad’s side of the family, etc) where you can walk out with a dozen pairs of incredibly cute, yet useless sets of baby shoes for newborns. Only new parents would waste time, money or energy acquiring or keeping shoes for a baby. Babies can’t walk, so they don’t need the shoes, and every single shoe you put on a baby has a 50% guarantee of being called to the abyss and disappearing forever. Usually, you’re gonna skip shoes altogether until babies can walk and even then, you’re not going to use many shoes bc babies don’t like them. So, I’d say, the saddest thing about that one sentence story is either how capitalism has lead us into this consumerist hellscape where we spend money on shoes for people who hate wearing them, will grow out of them within a few months, can’t and WON’T keep them on, and don’t even walk anyways making them beyond superfluous borderline wasteful products; OR that someone is wasting their time to make a whole listing for selling just one pair of baby shoes, like, the payoff seems negligible just donate them dude nobody is driving across town for a pair of shoes that their baby can’t even walk in and would only fit (again to NOT be walked in) the kid for 3 months max. Just give them to a goodwill or as a re-gift at the next baby shower you attend ya weirdos
you should do all your 'buying expensive stuff to make fun of it' videos with your friends, having a whole group mocking the shoes made for such a fun energy
Thing that kills me the most about these shoes is that for a fraction of the cost you could literally just buy a good pair of rollerblades and it would actually be more efficient faster quieter, less strange looking 😂😂😂

The decibel meter reading is a moot point because adding two sounds of equal decibels only increases the total decibel level by about 3. so if talking is 70dB, and the skates are the exact same volume of 70db, you get a reading of around 73. They were most likely just as loud if not louder than his speaking voice. Edit: Also, every 10db is double the volume, and conversational speaking is around 60db, so measuring the skates at 70db on average means they are about twice as loud as normal converasation.
also our ears don't perceive loudness equally across the frequency spectrum. higher frequency sounds have greater perceived loudness, so two people having a conversation will sound MUCH quieter than a high pitched whine, even if they're technically the same loudness.
@rencunin It's not like rollerblading because you are walking. It feels like you are walking on moving walkway similar to the ones in the airport and IKEA. It's safer than skating because the wheels stop when you stop walking and you can't move backwards.
Honestly be better off buying steal toed shoes for the extra weight or just using a weighted vest or backpack, this seems so pointless and like a waste of money especially as a workout device

The noise is a safety feature, so pedestrians know when you are screaming up behind them at slightly faster than normal walking speed. Or that someone is standing behind them boiling water for tea.

the more companies slap the word AI into their products the more I understand my professor's sigh whenever we tell him about a project idea that includes AI and he asks "What is AI" as his way of saying "is it really AI? does this idea really need AI?" because honestly at this point it turned into the word "organic" for food products; just slap it on anything to give the illusion it is something that people want
AI is more of an umbrella term though and a lot of products or services uses AI. These shoes definitely use AI just like Google or Netflix uses AI and has been for years. It's just that when people think of AI they think of AGI, which is more like the AI seen in science fiction. So AI seems to be a buzz word or fake when that is what it is. Edit: AI definetely is used as a buzz word and used incorrectly, but in this case they are most likely using AI correctly just not in the way people typically think.
At this point companies just seem to call any type of computing 'AI'. The shoes compute what you are doing and react. To them, that's artificial intelligence.
@@InexpressableI guess it technically is. What everyone gets "artificial intelligence" confused with is machine learning, which is what people think of when they hear AI. A chip computing things and reacting based on the inputs is still technically a form of artificial intelligence, just not in the way most people would think, in the same way the youtube algorithm would technically be "artificial intelligence"
i love that the only advice the instructional video gave was to walk naturally and when first getting on the shoes every single one of them started by walking unnaturally
What I love about these is that their weight and awkwardness makes you actually walk slower while wearing them, so you end up moving about the same speed as you would normally walking
These shoes are like when you have to follow an npc in a video game. Your walking speed is slightly slower than theirs but your running speed is way faster than them.
I know we’re supposed to make fun of drew to make him laugh BUT I just wanna say every time he uploads my day is much better than it was before. Thank you for all the effort you put in.
Watching this video *really* just made me wanna go out and buy some rollerskates. Once you get comfortable enough with using them it seems like skating literally is just walking at the speed of a run.

I loved the part where he spent a bunch of money on something stupid for content, if only there was a playlist with a bunch of videos of him doing that
the funny thing is that there is actually a use case for this sort of thing and i fall into it - i have an old hip injury that flares up if i walk more than about 2 miles at a time, so I can't, for example, go walking to the grocery store that's about 1.2 miles from my house because it's _just_ outside that 2 mile round-trip range. being able to go just a _little_ bit farther on each step would actually expand my "walkable distance" range quite a bit. I've actually considered buying heelys to help with this. so i was interested in these moonwalkers until you showed the price, and then every thing after that was an additional ding against it. the extra weight that would offset any benefit of getting more distance per step? the difficulty of even just getting them to work in the first place? the NOISE???? the thing about a lot of these types of products is that they're designed for disabilities and then marketed to everyone, so able-bodied people go "that's silly" while disabled people go "finally, something i can use" (snuggies are a classic example - they're designed for wheelchair users). and this is the first time i've looked at one of these and gone "oh, _i'm_ the disability these are for" and even then i would never actually buy these unless they managed to make them quiet, lightweight, and at least half as expensive. so if i'm the ideal use case and the way these are designed would not actually benefit me at all, then who were these designed _for????_ this is such a classic case of techbros reinventing the wheel. they could've just made some strap-on rollerskates that can't roll backwards and will let you stop on a dime, or heelys with a button that pops the wheels down instead of you having to carry the wheels around in your pocket and put them in manually. would've been way cheaper than whatever this tea-kettle sounding AI-motor cost them to develop.

@@TheGuindo I'm not sure on brand names, but my cousin has some and the category of shoe is broadly called "kick rollers". They have a button o the back of the heel you press to release the wheels.

The idea of something like that kinda links back to "walking correctors", which does sometimes have ableist undertones. Toe-walking is a common issue walking correctors attempt to solve, and it shows up more often in children with autism and other neurological disabilities; in fact, recent studies are showing that it shows up frequently in children with ADHD. While fixing toe-walking isn't inherently a bad thing (as it can cause stress on ligaments and bones), the connotation of having an "irregular walk" often isn't a positive one. A lot of people associate irregular gaits with stupidity (more specifically, with mental disability). So, you know, while I get you're just trying to make a joke, it made me quite uncomfortable because that was the first thing I thought of. ...Plus some people really are not physically capable of walking faster. Physical disabilities exist too!
It took me four tries to pass an exam once. 😅 I know it's a little embarrassing (especially when each time you think 'This is the one. I studied so hard') I believe in you! This is the one! (And if it's not then.. Next time for sure!)
@@Complete.cyclepath In 5 or so years, you will have to retake an eye exam. Like jokes aside, it really is important to have semi-regular checks on your eyesight, because it does worsen over time if you're not handling it properly lol.

A horror story in one sentence:
For sale- one pair of moon shoes, hardly worn
Shaking in my moon-boots
Shaking in my moon-flipflops
Thanks, Hemingway
kinda prophetic considering his most recent upload
I’d say this isn’t a horror story since I can imagine many many people buying these shoes and quickly not liking them, so trying to recoup some of their money spent by selling them. I think much more scary would be “for sale- one pair of moon shoes, fully cleaned and refurbished”
AND, (me from the future, whoops I didn’t know I had a rant in my heart on this subject) on the note of the baby shoes for sale being a sad story, those people must not have had a baby or taken care of many babies bc you can end up having multiple baby showers (one from coworkers, one from friends, one from dad’s side of the family, etc) where you can walk out with a dozen pairs of incredibly cute, yet useless sets of baby shoes for newborns.
So, I’d say, the saddest thing about that one sentence story is either how capitalism has lead us into this consumerist hellscape where we spend money on shoes for people who hate wearing them, will grow out of them within a few months, can’t and WON’T keep them on, and don’t even walk anyways making them beyond superfluous borderline wasteful products;
OR that someone is wasting their time to make a whole listing for selling just one pair of baby shoes, like, the payoff seems negligible just donate them dude nobody is driving across town for a pair of shoes that their baby can’t even walk in and would only fit (again to NOT be walked in) the kid for 3 months max. Just give them to a goodwill or as a re-gift at the next baby shower you attend ya weirdos

Thank you for explaining. Now I don't have to Google how decibels work.

the more companies slap the word AI into their products the more I understand my professor's sigh whenever we tell him about a project idea that includes AI and he asks "What is AI" as his way of saying "is it really AI? does this idea really need AI?" because honestly at this point it turned into the word "organic" for food products; just slap it on anything to give the illusion it is something that people want
A chip computing things and reacting based on the inputs is still technically a form of artificial intelligence, just not in the way most people would think, in the same way the youtube algorithm would technically be "artificial intelligence"
i was JUST thinking about this as i was watching! AI is a product of code, but not all code is AI

@@JCRaptorGeneI HAVE ADULT SIZE WHEELIES NOW YES THEY EXIST
the funny thing is that there is actually a use case for this sort of thing and i fall into it - i have an old hip injury that flares up if i walk more than about 2 miles at a time, so I can't, for example, go walking to the grocery store that's about 1.2 miles from my house because it's _just_ outside that 2 mile round-trip range. being able to go just a _little_ bit farther on each step would actually expand my "walkable distance" range quite a bit.

At this point who is stopping any engineer from making shoes that shock you if you walk too slowly?

No charity needs moonwalk shoes that don't seem to work. Some of the other things that were good, I agree
Edit: I thought you said donate the stuff to charity. So I agree with both now. Some things that would be very useful could be donated to charity and this kind of stuff auctioned for charity
1. I Agree
2. I like your pfp
That’s a great idea
Boosting this comment. I think this would be cool
The way you glide just a little bit with every step you take in these shoes is like those nightmares I have where my walk is weird and unnatural and I can’t actually move very far despite how hard I try to run. Clearly worth the $1500
i love how, when paired with normal white sneakers, they just make you look like that kid who always would wear socks and sandals to gym class
I was on the list to buy these but I read another article about the size so I cancelled my pre-order. I kept watching their website and even got a Black Friday offer but I’ve been suspicious as I could not find any real comments from real users. Thank you so much for your video. Your review helped me know I made the right decision!
This is perfect! Standing for 8-10 hours every day hasn't caused me enough injury, I need to feel pain where I never expected. Thanks, Moonwalkers!
LOL
The piercing noise is probably the shoes screaming in fear. Don't worry guys, the shoes are much more scared of you, than you are of it 😉😂
WHOA! You just brought up a scary thought! What if these "AI" shoes have indeed become self aware and THAT'S why they're screaming?! 😮 Poor shoes.
Now we have to see the full outfit. Astronaut mask, work wonnie, small ass backpack, military grade belt, and the fast shoes. Then you’ll truly be the God of Buy Try.
Especially since he has the moon pod which is basically like sleeping on a cloud! 😂
@@Kawa-Yukimainly because all of the moon pod’s promises are nothing but air!
and the vuori sweatpants
@@sofastuffing over the onesie lmao that would be amazing
