Great review, I personally like the white laces better because they contrast to the white sides and the toe cap better and look classic.
I dont know why this bugs me but it does, I don't like that they don't use the white thread on them, it makes them look fake, if they looked like the classic maybe I would like them but till then I don't like them
and there is no pinstripe, they look fake to me so I wouldn't wear them
I like your channel. No crappy music, just down to what the shoe is.
+jimmy7train thanks, that's appreciated.
The 1950s and 1960s Chucks had arch support and padding on the inside. As converse shifted their attention to other shoes in the 70s they removed these features and sold the shoe as a cheap, basic canvas shoe. These so call original Chucks being sold today are bad for your feet. Get these. They are much more comfortable.
Interesting, I didn't know that.
Its a shame. I loved the 70s they were awesome.
Black
Black
i think black laces would be cool, black is stealth
You're right Black laces for stealth and White laces for normal use.
And the print at the back "Converse All-Star" isn't printed this time. It's carved.
do they sell the soles separatley would love to chuck them in my old ones maybe make them more comfy
+SteadyAimCinema No, unfortunately they do not. I have been doing some digging and have also done a chat online and have determined that they do not want us buying them. It's a shame really. I might just buy a pair and swap insole between pairs.
+SteadyAimCinema just buy some dr scholls inserts or any other insert.
I thought I'd switch out to white laces, but I really like how the black laces look. They make the shoe look premium.
Great review man. Best Chuck 2 review I've seen on the web.
Thanks, appreciated.
Since the Chuck II has thicker frabic, is it still flexible when you walk around?
Nice review! I think the black laces give them a more solid and updated look.
HeyOzzy! Thanks, Yeah me too, I went for the black laces.
why didn't they just put the insole into the regular converse
Detailed review man! I've owned 2 pairs of old All Stars and my foot can't withstand the hard soles. :( Are these with the new soles significantly more comfortable than the old ones? Thx :)
+meκκαno Definitely more comfortable than the originals.
I still fuck with the original converse
These are pretty much the Converse CTS Pro skate shoes without the reinforced heel and slightly thinner Lunarlon insole. Good review though my dude
Awesome review. I look forward to being able to try these for myself. Im a fan of classic chucks. But as far as a comfy shoe i can wear all day im a big pf flyer fan and im very curious how these two shoes will compare with each other. Keep the good vids coming
Thanks, these are definitely way more comfortable than the original Chucks.
by the looks, chucks 2 feels so different,i really love the retro feeling on the first chucks, but hey, give the people what they want, great review by the way!
They're a little different to the originals because the fabric is thicker, but they're still very similar.
yeah, I actually typed that wrong.. should have been the other way around..
I've the video I had the old black and white converses due to being a massive fan of back to the future really like the shoes thinking of getting a pair great review
+Dan T thanks, glad you liked it.
I'm still not completely sold on these. I prefer the classic chucks look in every way, but the soles on the 2s looks really nice.
Nicholas Hiles the differences are very subtle, basically the patch, a line on the mid sole and contrasting stitching are the main ones, but the 2's are definitely more comfortable.
iv'e tried both and yes, the 2 is more comfortable but i never though the regular ones were uncomfortable.
+The8-BitNerd after having the lunaron insoles, don't think i could go back to the original Cons
I would get black laces they look better in the all star 2 cuz the bottom is all white now and I don't want the laces to get dirty
I went with black too
About got dam time for years I like the low cut version but couldn't wear it cause it hurts to walk in
These are definitely more comfortable than the originals.
Great review. I found the high's to be difficult to put on and remove due to the increased rigidity. I have the low top blue's and they're sure comfier than the original. However, they squeak something fierce, both my girlfriend and I have noticed our pairs doing so. Anyone else experiencing that?
Thanks. Mine don't squeak, but I've only worn them few times, I have a few pair of shoes so rotate them
It might work for the Chuck 2's, so you could try it, the squeezing is usually moisture under the insole, take out the insoles, out baby powder in the shoe, and clean it out again, see if that helps.
^ Chris Ramos Thanks for the tip! Don't know why this would occur on a brand new pair, but I'll give that a shot!
Andy I know some shoes it happens to a lot, Like Jordan Retro 11's they're infamous for squeaking, and that's were the recommendation for the baby powder came from, hopefully it works.
White laces. Nice
Jose German Yeah, I went for the black laces, but the whites do give them that classic look.
black laces make the shoes more premium and mature
Kan 4444 I went for the black laces, like the clean contrasting look.
Black laces
Yeah, think so too.
I bought size 9.5 and they feel like squeezing my toes with toe cap and they feel tight.Length seems fine but width's the one that feels troublesome.Would size 10 be too big then?Someone pls answer and help.
Can anyone else confirm that these shoes are extremely difficult to get on your foot? I don't know what it is about these new converse but I have to loosen the laces all the way down just for my foot to slide in. The thicker material and elastic bands on the tongue make it quite a challenge. Not exaggerating in anyway. The difficulty in putting on these shoes is mind blowing and painful. Once the shoe is on it fits comfortably with plenty of room.
+Austin Adams I agree slightly, they're definitely harder to get on, the stiffer material and tounge elastic is probably the reason, but I don't tie mine anyway so they're always loose laced.
White
I'm just praying that they'll re-stock. Seems like a great improvement! Best review on this shoe on RUclips currently. This has to be my like 10th time watching this, so it'll calm me down on waiting for the re-stock. :'( I actually like the design. A lot of people don't like it. I think the new designs are a lot cleaner. Black laces by the way.
I've always worn half a size smaller for Chucks. I've understood on what you've said. Although, my foot size is 9, but I wear 9.5 for more comfort and room. I also have wide feet. What do you suggest for me? 9 or 9.5?
MinJun Kim Thanks for the compliment, glad you enjoyed my review. I'm sure there will be plenty of restocks, but check in stores, I got mine in store and the site had none.
I'd go half a size up from what ever size you wear in the original Chucks, I'm a 9UK in originals and a 9.5UK in the Chuck 2's.
They have some on journeys website
Chris Ramos So, my low tops just came yesterday. I've been wearing them for about a day, and they squeak. It's when the outer part (green stuff of the lunarlon) has friction with the shoe. Whenever I take a step the cushion goes down, and it creates a squeak sound. Did this happen to you?
MinJun Kim It hasn't happened to me, but I've only worn mine a few times, as I have a lot of shoes so I rotate them a lot.
I know shoes like Jordan 11's are infamous for squeaking and people suggest this as a fix, so it should work for the Converse too hopefully.
Basically the squeaking is usually because of moisture builiding up inside the shoe under the insole, people recommend taking the insole out pouring baby/talcum powder inside the shoe and over the underside of the insole, dust it all off, wipe it all out/clean with some dry tissue and put the insoles back in, should be okay after that as it'll dry it up.
try if you want and let me know if it helped.
Chris Ramos Worked man. I've thought about powder, but thought something will happen to my shoes. Thanks bro. Aha, the 11's, and some Kobe's did squeak for me. I just stopped wearing them for like a month or two and they stopped squeaking after I put them back on. lol
Late to the party, treating myself to a pair for xmas haha. Now I need some good work shoes.
Black laces look nice with them. I just ordered the white high tops and then saw on the website the shoes run half size larger. Good thing I saw that after I placed my order or else I would've put my usual 7.5 size. I'll have to see how the 8 goes. I'm so excited for comfortable chucks!
Ive gone for the black laces, preferred the look of them.
They run small in my opinion, I had to get half a size bigger, so I think the 8 will fit you perfect if you're normally a 7.5.
Corrie Chan Half size large means you order a half size down, not up. You want 7's not 8's.
MMAFreak941 Yeah I was about to call customer service to do that but then I saw the this video
Corrie Chan Have you received your shoes yet? How's the size? Thanks!
I did! I recommend going a half size up too! Elizabeth Thai
Damn. I may actually rock converse now since they upped their materials and comfort of the shoe :D
They're definitely a lot nicer than the originals, and way more comfortable.
Awesome review. How tall is the entire sole of these new chucks? I personally have always dislike the thin sole of the originals, especially when you compare them to nikes that have super thick soles adding an inch to your actual height.
The sole is the same as the original ones, it's just the insole that's different, so height wise they're the same.
I agree with the idea of keeping Converse original, which explains why not naming it the original. I've always liked the simplicity but I'm a low top guy.... (so buy the low right?) but at the same time I'm a big sneaker guy into quality and comfort. No doubt with certain collections and names they bring some quality to the table, solving that demand. The biggest demand which has changed in almost all shoe brands is comfort to me. I feel that people have swayed to comfort and opened their eyes more. I'm glad the Chuck 2 is out and picked one up. My biggest thing has become comfort, for everything. Now, a Converse is comfy enough to wear. Smart move to me, bridges the gap. The people want more, and it's affordable. Good stuff
+Gemone09 well said.
Interesting that you are saying that they're running small. I have heard/read over here in America that they are running big-that people are having to buy a size to a size and a half smaller than they wore with the old All Star (Makes me want to try it on first!) :-) I wear 13 US in almost everything and in Nikes, may wear a 13-1/2 in some of their running shoes. But, it's been years since I've owned Nikes.
+galvanicpictures They definity fit small for me, I have a pair of the originals as wel as the 2's, my originals are 9UK and my 2's are 9.5UK
Fire
I'm hoping these run in unisex sizes rather than men/women. As a female with a large foot the words "these shoes run small" discourage me so much!!! I wear a size 11 so it's a struggle to find my size in stores (Journey, anything other than Payless) already... So having to find a size 12 would be a nightmare!! And the only place I've seen these sold was Journey.
I think these are unisex sizing.
I understand if Converse are trying to market more towards the nike demographic however I will never buy these; original chucks ALL THE WAY!!!
Your choice obviously, but I think these are definitely more comfortable, if they bring out a blacked out one I probably wouldn't buy the originals any more as that's the only colour I wear.
I don't like the all white sole... But hey, I guess you can easily paint it if the strip still comes out. And maybe it looks better in real life then it does on camera because it seems like a regular all flat outer sole.
I wanted to get a pair of these today but Nike messed up and set Belgium to a much later delivery date then the 25th... Oh well, they are fixing it right now so let's hope I can get them in a few more days and see them for myself!
If have preferred if they had the line on the midsole, but you get used to it, it gives a nice contrast, especially with the black laces.
Kilo thug CCG do a
they're sold out in the US in my size FUCK AMERICA
I like the white laces stick to the classic
+Valentino Martinez I went for the black laces, makes them look different from the originals.
I prefer the white laces
btw: I have to wear special shoe inserts made of wood, because my legs don't have the similar length (It's a difference about 1cm).
Can I still put my inserts in these chucks, while they aleready have lunarlon inserts in them?
Of you're able to put them in the regular Chucks then they would probably fit in these too, but it might be a bit tight around D the toe area with the plastic toe cap.
watched your video to make sure the pair I bought for $60 on eBay were legit.. noticed that these are made in Taiwan, I think the old ones are made in Vietnam.. possibly the whole Nike thing. but yes the monochrome would be awesome & definitely going with the black laces..
+LBPlayBoy My chuck 2's are made in Vietnam according to the label. yeah I went for the black laces too.
"Runs a half-size small."
Nike's main contribution to this shoe is that it'll no longer accommodate those of us with wider feet, just like every other Nike shoe that doesn't look like something my grandpa would wear. I was gonna wait out for some mono black ones to come out to wear as a work shoe as well, but I guess there's no point now...
I'm referring to length not width, and you can just buy half a size up, so you can still wear them, just go half a size up from what younwear in regular Chucks, the width hasn't really changed in my opinion.
White laces look perfect on the Chuck 2. I wonder why they don't include the white laces instead of the black.
They do, they give you both, I said that at the beginning of the video, that's why I've got one laced with the whites and one with the blacks.
I'm actually disappointed that they blacked out the metal eyelets. Because I rock black laces on my original Chucks and it looks sexy with it being blacked out but you just see the silver metal eyelets going down. Now that they blacked out the eyelets, the black laces just kinda make the whole top part seem a bit bland. With that said, I'd still rock the black laces just because they look more sleek, but it really depends on your personal style too.
I hear you, I like the completely backed out upper, and with the black laces in it creates a really clean contrasting look.
I think the Chucks II have a different outsole than the old one, & I think they'll only use it exclusively for Chucks II.
ludwigrx I compared the originals to the 2's in the video, and also the out sole. It's the exact same out sole
Chris Ramos Here's a comparison pic I saw from Sole Collector. Just a slight difference & it's only for the Chucks 2. bit.ly/1JcpnBT
Chris Ramos Chucks 2 on the left.
That's just a link to the main sole collector page, no pic, but they only difference is on the mid sole, not the out sole (bottom)
Chris Ramos That's weird. Here's a dropbox mirror. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5734840/Chucks%202%20Outsole.jpg
The soles on my converse always tear up. It's just the material. And I don't know which lace to pick I like both. But the black does look nice on it
I've gone for the black laces, just becat the whites are more of the classic look, so the black laces kind of fit with the whole "Chuck 2" look.
Thx so much for doing this comparison I've been waiting for someone to do it, can't wait to get them, Black laces look better in my opinion.
Thanks for the kind comment, yeah I went for the black laces after too.
What is nikes deal with not using reg sizes. I swear that every shoe they make is narrow af and too short. I have to wear a 15 in nike instead of 14 and half the time even those don't fit because they're too narrow. Ffs, get it together nike
I always check the CM sizing, as that's a measurement not a size, so will always be a correct size regardless of brand.
Quick question, do these fit true to size or do they run long like the original chuck taylors? I usually order two sizes below normal for the originals
+jack paton I already answered this in the video. I feel they run small compared to the originals, so i went up half a size.
Fuck honestly I'd go with white laces not many people will ever know it's the 2s it's more for you to enjoy a slightly better feel for your fert
+xXTearsx0fxSorrowxX that's why i went with the black laces, to distinguish between the two.
i hate that they charge you 75 bucks for an added insole and a bit of extra padding to the sides... you could just buy some dr scholls inserts and call it a day.
+SpawnoftheEd its not $75 difference between the originals and the 2's is it. i think the whole material used on the upper and tongue is much better, so its not just about the insoles.
Thanks for the review! With black laces look better :)
+Артур Подкаминный Thanks, I went for the black laces too.
Nice review, dude! It's Lunarlon, not Lunaron. :)
👍 😂 you're right, my bad.
Finally a great review! Definetly gonna pick these up, I think the black laces look a lot better but the white looks clean to
Thanks, yeah, I went for the black laces after too.
I bought a pair of low tops yesterday in black. The insoles creak, and the wee curved slope at the heel of the insole rubs my feet as I walk, which also in turn pulls my socks down with each step. Does yours do this or is this just an issue with the low tops? I don't wanna have to return them but I just know they'll tear up my heels if I go walking for even a short period of time.
Micky Kay The squeaking hasn't happened to me, but I've only worn mine a few times, as I have a lot of shoes so I rotate them a lot, but other people have mentioned the squeaking.
I know shoes like Jordan 11's are infamous for squeaking and people
suggest this as a fix, so it should work for the Converse too.
Basically the squeaking is usually because of moisture building up
inside the shoe under the insole, people recommend taking the insole out pouring baby/talcum powder inside the shoe and over the underside of the insole, dust it all off, wipe it all out/clean with some dry tissue and put the insoles back in, should be okay after that as it'll dry it up. Try if you want and let me know if it helped.
As for the slope on the heel, I've not heard about this before, did you buy half a size up or go true to size?
Chris Ramos See I'm an awkward size. I'm a half size, so I usually have to go up or down a size, never getting my exact size unless the company does half sizes. I got the half size down because the half size up was enormous on me, so I went for a UK size 7 instead of the 8. The 6 was far too tight, so I couldn't go home with it. The 7 feels right, just less of an inch of space in front of my toes, and I'm not sliding about in them. The rubbing in the back of my heel is still kinda happening because of the back of the insole, but I'm hoping it will ease as the shoes get broken in.
As for the creaking, it was caused simply by the insole foam rubbing against the stiffer canvas of the heelbox. It had no chance to get damp, but it still made the squaking. I can only assume it was because of the foamy material the insoles are made of. I solved it with some baby powder after seeing people with Jordan's having the same sorta issue, and it completely fixed the issue :)
How is the sizing my size is 9.5 but in original chucks I wear 8.5 are these more true to size or same as old ones
I did answer that question in the video. They fit smaller, I'm a 9 in originals, but 9.5 in the 2's.
Hoping these are better. Stopped buying high tops because they always broke after two weeks
Anja Haugbjørg they're a lot better.
Not a fan of the new ones I like the insole but love the contrast they had with the white thread the black line on the rubber they are too one demential now. I would go with the white laces
You like that classic look, I get you, I kinda like the contrast on the 2's though, black laces and all black upper goes nice against that all white midsole and toe cap. If they were an exactly duplicate with a better insoles they'd probably discontinue the originals, now they can keep both.
All black just got released in Germany, I got the low version of it.
+nlmaster98 Yeah I've seen them, shame it took so long, I've kind of switched from Chucks to Vans Sh8-Hi's now, much better shoe.
black laces loco, whites one make it look like school oufits or something
I went for the black laces.
How's this compared to sk8 ho? Which is better for all day comfort?
+John Joshua i personally prefer Sk8-Hi's
Just so it's clear, Nike has owned Converse since 2003.
+NeoGee okay.
Dude, every chick I know wears high-top!!! :D
Farzin Shargh I just think the lows look better on females, and the highs for guys.
is the low cut one good one to buy?i mean is it comfortable to wear? im planning on buying the blue low cut one. Thank You! :D
Kaon Tae Yepp lows are generally more comfy then highs, mhm good choice thinking about the same, or black?! GAAH!
Personally I don't like the lows, I think they are better for females. The blue highs are what I originally wanted though.
any flat foot guys out there have bought this im interested in how these fit i have always wanted chucks but they just kill my feet so pls let me know what ur opinion is
Can't answer your question, as I don't have flat feet, but I'd imagine the lunarlon might help a little, try a pair on instore and see how they feel.
Get them, they are much better. Can't tell if better then other shoes because I have only worn the old Chuck Taylor in the past years, but these are definitely a big improvement.
well they are all unisex. Difference being the colours. I don't expect to see a dude wearing a pink one.
+Dj siylar well if they bring out a pink one it'll be interesting to see if it's still unisex lol
+Chris Ramos 😂😂😂
Need a new pair of Converse and going to try these, want to wear them to work (navy/khaki's) so just can't decide between the more toned down grey or the burgundy which I just really like lol.
+Jason Aud I'd go for burgundy personally
+Chris's Kicks Sneaker Reviews Thanks! I probably will. Had the old version in Burgundy that are past the point of wearing but I liked them a lot. Will have to see what the other laces look like as well....so many tough decisions lol.
+Jason Aud personally I've switched from Chucks to Vans Sk8-hi's way more comfortable and better quality shoes.
+Chris's Kicks Sneaker Reviews Cool, may check them out but I do like my Converse. :)
If my true size is a US 11, should i get a US 11.5?
I'd recommend going up half a size, I wear a 9UK in the original Chucks, tried on my size in store in these Chuck 2's & it was really pinched in the toe box, the 9.5UK fits me good though.
Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star my favorite shoes of all time size us 13 for me
Thanks for the review. Good stuff
Thanks. 👍
I was gonna get it but it's sold out in my size online :( I don't know when it will be back in stock....
I'm sure they'll be restocking these often, just keep searching.
They're on Nordstrom for retail price
is There anyway I can ship these from America to Australia
+Callum Hickling Probably, not sure what sites though, and you'd probably get import charges.
If u dont like these get the convers CTAs pro skate shoes Same old classic style but with made out of suade and the insole is amazing. They lasted me forever skating imagine with out skating?
Denis Castrillo They look nice too, just had a look, are they a new release? as they also have the lunarlon right?
Na man they arent new they been out for a while now. And yea they have the lumarlon. They are so good you dont even feel the ground i even kept the insole after i ripped the shoes apart. And yhey are much cheaper than these.
Denis Castrillo cool, thanks, I'll check them out.
No problem man ive seen them only go as low as $65 good deal for great shoes.
dud how did nike buy converse ? there like the most iconic shoes out there
+Edgar Gallegos They've owned them for a long time, but not really changed anything until now.
u make the old converse sound shit. and ive just started collecting the old ones :( I feel like I wasted my money now -_-
YOU DONT KNOW ME Na the old ones are definitely not shit, they're good for the price they sell at, but the Chuck 2's have a lot of improvements, But I only wear the all black originals, but if they bring out an all black Chuck 2, I'll probably not buy the originals again.
quick reply :P
chuck 2 seem really comfy. r they?
YOU DONT KNOW ME I try to reply to all the comments as soon as possible. Yeah, they are a lot more comfortable than the original Chucks, but not as comfortable as something like Nike Air Max etc, but more comfortable than the original Chucks for sure.
Chris Ramos then in that case I might get them. thanks :) take care. have a great day. Byeeee!!!
+Khushnug Khan 5 months later and I'm finally getting them :)
black look really good.
I like converse shoes in gray because it can go with everything
+Valerie Anderson :3 (Val) I went with black too
+Cool Fry true, so does balck though.
I like white Imma put white on mine, just ordered the same show
+Pando good choice, I went with black.
very well done and perfectly shot 😊
+Rohan Purohit Thanks.
Nike Pack-A-Punched the Converse
+brandon calderon They're much nicer than the originals in my opinion.
The white mid soles really pop with black laces.
+burningknuckle26 yeah, I think so too.
Black laces white laces look more for a girl in my opinion
I've decided on black laces too.
Use black and white on both shoes and cross lace em!!!!
+Benjamin Moore nah, that's a bit to much for me, I went with the black laces.
black laces. the white laced are too white and dont match the shoe.
+Andrew Jones Yeah, I went for the black laces too.
I am planning to buy them..and maybe use royal blue laces night look good too
+Manuel Rodriguez Why not just buy the royal blue pair?
I prefer the black converse with details in different colors, laces red, white, green, blue, all possible combinations with the black, but the all blue ones are really neat too
Do they sell these at Walmart? My mom only lets me buy shoes at Walmart.
probably
Steadfasting ima pray for you
These are awesome ✌️
AYY
Nike doesn't know how to keep whats classic; classic. I understand innovations, but just leave it be you don't get chucks to be performance sneakers you buy them cause their shitty cheap and iconic.
+Stephen Pahides I think that's why these are the "Chuck 2's", so you can still buy the original AllStars just the way they always were.
Chris Ramos Well why not just make a new shoe? Knowing that there's a newer shoe makes classic all stars, the worse shoe of the name. I simply feel that they should have left the shoe alone instead of always trying to reinvent something.
+Stephen Pahides well technically the Chuck 2 is a new shoe, that's why its the 2, not the original, but I know what you're saying. I think people will still buy the originals though, as there's a lot of antithetical differences still, and the 2's have only released in a handful of colours so far.
+Stephen Pahides yeah I like the original the "2" is crappy
+Crystal Bloom 2's are damn amazing . If you can't afford them then stick to the original but if you can afford it but the 2's because they are amazing and for the new generation
Nice review. I like the black laces.
pbcya Thanks, appreciated. Yeah I went for the black laces too.
White laces
+Rafael Jr I went for the black laces, as i felt the whites made it too similar to the original Chucks
i use the black because thw white gets dirty faster
+neil indar True.
thx dude...
Work shoe? For what? WacArnolds?
Freddy Fox 500 The all black Chuck originals are a work shoe for me.
im going to get .y converse on tuesday
+I love Unicorns 101 nice.
Chris Ramos I'm going to get the hi tops
Hey man, did u just say that Nike took over Converse? How i didnt know that
+Nghi Nguyen Nike has owned them for a while, but they have never really done anything to change them, but now they are, Lunaron cushioning is a Nike system
thks for the info man, still didnt know about that until I watched ur vid. Btw, good vid, too. Keep it up bro.
Nghi Nguyen no problem, thanks.
