Tanner -- I learned this from a youtube channel "JusTruckin" he carries an infrared thermometer gun and always checks his hubs with it, no need to burn your hand and easier to keep an eye on what temps they should be to identify a problem earlier, highly suggest
Absolutely. You can check the hubs, drums, and then tires on both the towing rig and the trailer and catch a problem in the making.
Good thing your dad can work on a lot of different things saves a lot of cash
Your dads 100% right about the best time to drive a rig in California. Back in the70s I drove tankers and some time 49 Ft flats all over California and up to Oregon and Washington. If I had a load going north I would try to leave around midnight to be out of the big California cities before rush hour.
Nice catch with the wheel hub, bearing and brakes. Y'all should check the tire temps when you check the hubs. Not to mention thump the tires every morning and at least when y'all get fuel.

Exact same hub issue struck my wife and I on the way back home from a drag race. Solved it the same way. The good side of this, we fixed the hub in an In N Out parking lot.

I always stop at Twin Arrows whenever I am driving to or from the west coast to the midwest. They have plenty of room and appreciate your business. Food is pretty good and the best part, nice bathrooms. LOL

Amarillo has an amazing race track just east of the city and they have a good program that runs through every and y’all should stop by on a Saturday night and watch the races

I would imagine he wouldn't' have the licences required to drive such a rig. Here in Australia, it several years to acquire those licences.
