Also, I would like to add few more tips - at least, when it comes to drawing :
    1. zoom out - Treat the canvas like a sheet of paper, and even if you want to draw smaller details, like the hair strands, try to simplify them, instead of zooming in
    2. Draw every line only once, Reduce the Usage of ctrl-z shortcut to a minimum - Draw every line once, even if the line would not be perfect... if the line looks "bad", say to yourself "it's ok, I can fix this later, in the next stage"
    3. Do a breakdown of the reference(s) before you draw (or after sketching) - Every time you use reference, try to break the reference down to the basic shapes...Draw those basic shapes on top of the photo or screenshot or anything- Don't stylize yet, this breakdown is for you, so you know, how the subject you want to draw, looks realistically - And in this same time, Breakdown helps to remove "details" from photo, that you wont use, and that could confuse you...
This way, when you do a breakdown, you would know, how the subject's proportions and shapes/forms look realistically.
And then draw those shapes next to the breakdown - this way, you could use The realistic proportions on the breakdown to draw the stylized drawing next to it, and still knowing, what is the shape of an eye or other part of body or ANYTHING looks like

Hello, just a reminder that I love you. Your videos got me back into art and I am forever grateful. I make the mistake of overthinking and erasing every line a thousand times before being ok with how it looks.
Thanks for being a swell guy!

My biggest art struggle, most of the time, is really wanting to make something but not knowing what exactly to make. Sometimes it's just being too inspired and not being able to decide where to start. Sometimes it's a reluctance due to thinking I'm not good enough to create what I have in mind. And sometimes I just draw blanks for hours lol.

I gave up on drawing like a 100 times. Xabio gives me that useless hope that I can draw if I push myself to practise, then I give up, then time passes, I watch his video and the circle continues. I can't draw. I just love the idea of me creating something on paper and I've realized it just now.
Sorry, English is not my first language c:

Soooome additional tips from your local support simp from ✨experience✨
    1) Accuracy first, speed second. Don't worry too much about how long you're spending on a drawing, especially when you're just starting out. This is especially true if you're drawing something new for the first time-- its better to take the time to understand the form and shape of the subject matter. Speed tends to come with comfortability with what you're drawing and repetition.
    2) Touching up on one of the points Xabio expressed, it is always okay to take time to revisit the basics at any point in your art career. Even artists who entire careers depend on drawing will revisit the basics.
    3) Don't be like me: keep your old art, even that one atrocious doodle you wish to rip to shreds with every fiber in your being. These doodles give you both a reference point of your progress and allow you to refer back to them as a reference (maybe there was one component of a drawing that you did really well and are trying to figure out how to replicate it). And yes, it is okay to refer back to old art or use your old art as reference.
    4) It's okay to not have an art style, and it doesn't have to be a focus. Generally your style comes to you naturally, and even within the scope of that style there may be variances. It's also okay if you're drawn to a specific component of someone else's art style-- just be sure you're not plagiarizing. Artists recycle each other's ideas and make them their own.
    5) Comparisons are a grey area. It really depends on how you're comparing-- if its in an analytical sense of how you can improve one a specific component or you notice something that you want to replicate in your piece, that's okay. But sometimes making too many comparisons can discourage you from making art. Every piece of work at any level is invaluable, because it's an indispensable learning/teaching tool as well as an indicator of progress.
    6) have fun with it! There's so much room for growth and experimentation in art. Remember that its a process with no finite end goal and no set rules, just a loose set of guidelines. Go crazy, break that mold. Do what you want-- not even the sky is the limit. But also remember to try not to overwork yourself. Sometimes breaks are necessary, and things might end up falling into place when you're not even thinking of it.
Wherever you are in your art journey, I'm proud of you for making it this far. And if you're here because you want to pick up doing art or are coming back fo art after a long break, I believe in you and can't wait see what you wind up making.

All of them, because I'm afraid of making mistakes, so it keeps me from drawing anything, and just doing a small sketch everyday becomes a monster task, and I feel like I've wasted the last 10 years, where I should and could have become better, so I'm also my own biggest bully and critic.
It's kind of a bad deal, and hard to get out of.

yo, as a fellow artist who's like, paid bills with art, i got to disagree with most of these points tbh
    1. scratchy or shaky lines are a perfectly viable style. smooth lines can be boring and forced, where scratchy/sketchy lines are interesting and break the line of vision or leave implications the mind enjoys filling. smooth lines aren't the end-all-be-all of art, or a sign of confidence; they're just one way to draw. you don't even need to do lineart to Art.
    2. drawing with the wrist vs. the shoulder is strictly a matter of individual needs. i have far more control with my wrist than my shoulder - my shoulder muscles shake much harder than my wrist, and drawing from the shoulder is painful after a while, where i can draw from the wrist for hours with no issue. every body is different, and every drawing setup is different, too - drawing on a small surface from the shoulder is far more difficult than drawing from the wrist.
    3. mostly okay, but drawing overhand is a solution that, again, might not work with every drawing setup.
    4. "pillow shading", as with sketchy lines, is a perfectly viable artistic choice. in fact, i find softer shading more appealing and natural than bold shadows - shadows and lighting should always be determined by the scene as is. high contrast shadows can be their own pitfall, leading to blown out and unnatural feeling compositions.
    5. again, low contrast is an extremely common and popular style. acting as if high contrast is better, or that low-contrast is a sign of a beginner? ignores current trends like, say, pastels, or soft vintage looks. what matters is that these choices are intentional, not which one you choose.
and i know the end point subverts the rest of the video by saying all of these points are moot and people can do whatever they want, but it sort of feels like ... why make ... the video then? if people don't get that far, they're going to take your other points at face value, and i'm not sure you realize most of those really aren't mistakes.
overall, whatever someone is doing, they just have to make sure they're either doing it on purpose, or don't care about style/technique.

my biggest mistake really is the pillow shading. my execution is always off. when I try to shade, it doesn't blend right or match up with the skin so I just bring the opacity down and blend as much as I can and my art definitely suffers from it.

Ahh i feel like im back in hs gr 9 art class uwu. These are all really solid. I feel with the larger emphasis on digital art these days a lot of these get lost. And it's frustrating since the basics with traditional are applicable with digital, just more effectively learned through traditional imo (i'm a fine art kid im sorry). So I don't tend to see artists online talk about these ones. The wrist/elbow/shoulder is a big one for me and is what really elevated my art when I stared learning so I tend to rave bout that one when people ask about tips lol.
The day I can afford a huge ass screen tablet to truly take advantage shoulder drawing, is the day I will ascend. It's weird to say, but drawing on a big piece of paper to really be able to draw with your shoulder is an amazing freeing experience. And now I'm thinking bout gesture drawing ugh, so good.
