HEY!!!! i hope this helps u!! There's a lot of info in here so take it in chunks if u need. Don't forget to experiment with proportions too! changing the angles and sizes and roundness/sharpness can change the character a lot and make for some really interesting characters. Take care, see you next time!!
“I’m awesome & I like seeing myself succeed.” That hit me. I really love that you were comfortable to say it. Why it’s frowned upon to celebrate our own awesomeness is a mystery to me. Thanks for saying it. I feel refreshed & confident to say it, too, without getting mean mugged. & Thanks for sharing your awesomeness. ❤️😁
Hi, this video and the one on the 10 tips on how to draw the face are great. What a jump, for me. And, you explain it with such clarity and thoughtfulness.
This is one of the first times I checked who posted since your “hot creeper thing” video. I’m glad to see you’re back! Hopefully next time I can catch a live.
My comment is going to be semi-long because profile views were the bane of my existence for many years and I wanna help fellow artists have an easier time with it in any way I can. Just a head's up before you click that lil 'read more' button down there haha. . We love to see it! That long-shaped oval is super important because that represents the cranium! Since there aren't any distinguishing features on it, this area is often drawn too small, resulting in "squashed" looking heads in profile view. After you get a feel for how to draw heads in profile after a while, you can simplify those two oval shapes into one triangle. Just make sure the lines representing the front of the face and the top of the head are roughly the same length. I find that either drawing the (half) triangle of the face or creating a line separating the side plane from the front plane of the face is extremely helpful in preventing the facial features (especially the eyes) from drifting too far away from where they're supposed to be. Or you can eyeball where the cheek is supposed to be and that will give you a strong stopping point for the bottom half of the eye and the inside edges of the nose and mouth, but that is *extremely* difficult and something I always pair up with other techniques. I know of an *awesome* intermediate-level video lesson on drawing the head which I think does an awesome job at explaining profile view as well as other angles of the head. I obviously won't share it here unless Xabio says it's cool because I don't wanna direct people away from this channel, but I will say that the video is a couple hours long even without the example drawings at the end and is definitely worth the watch. I usually go back over the first half of the video at least once per year. That's how much I love it.
I hope it is ok if I ask a question. When you made your first video on youtube how many years of experience with art did you have before hand? I was just wondering as a new artist. P.S. love your videos
I have a skill share account but I can’t make a payment update for some reason and I don’t know how to cancel it tho it’s not drawing money off of my card (I used a free trial for the first few months btw)
