I didn’t have much stability as a kid but when I was in Southern California I could always depend on seeing Kobe dominate the court in the Purple and Gold. That brought me a sense of peace in my crazy upbringing.
That’s why I cried for a man I didn’t know personally When I found out he passed away. It still hurts.

I was just thinking something similar. People who aren't longtime Lakers fans don't get it. I don't care about where people put him in the GOAT debate. We got to watch him for 20 years, and he was the most amazing, awe-inspiring basketball player, and maybe athlete, I've ever seen. He shocked me on a nightly basis.

Regardless of what factors or variables you wanna input, those facts remain. Sure players are free to go wherever they want and it’s okay to go somewhere if you feel as though it gives you a better opportunity to win but there’s something extremely special about getting drafted by a franchise, sticking through the tough times, winning a championship and even more so, doing it multiple times. It means a lot to the franchises, the cities and the sport of basketball. As much as I like lebron and can see how he has impacted the game, from a pure basketball standpoint I believe the league will be a lot more whole once he retires. Bring back the grit, the loyalty, putting cities on the map, pushing through the struggle and experience both as a fan of the team and a fan for the sport, the beautiful journey that it is to win
