Billiups is one of my favorite players of the ‘00s. A brilliant decision-maker with a high AST:TO ratio, a good defender and an excellent outside shooter. The fact that the Nuggets reached their all-time NBA pinnacle (not counting their heights in the ABA) can be largely attributed to the presence of Billups. The ‘80s all-offense-no-defense Nuggets never really scared the Lakers. The ‘90s all-defense-no-offense Nuggets never really scared anybody. The ‘10s Nuggets vacillated between terrible and mediocre, only getting out of the 1st rd. once in ‘19. The inexperienced-and-totally-gassed ‘20 Nuggets presented little challenge to the ‘20 Lakers in the WCFs. nah only a handful are with prime kobe in terms of scoring, melo was close but not there yet
I fucking hate when bums bring up shooting percentage
So if Steph Curry shoot a higher FG% than Jordan ever did do that make Curry better?
NO NIGGA
Half of y’all don’t even play basketball so you stat nerds don’t understand what real scorers look like smh
this was great basketball, I miss the old times
True💯
Yeah it’s not just a big three point contest like it is today.
I miss him and I miss my Lakers during those great years. But again, I truly miss watching him. Some of the best years of my life
Rip kobe😢❤️
ooh lord, amazing battle, hard to watch, but, very thankfull to see this again !
rest easy kobe and gigi !!!
I wish I was spike lee.. homie literally seen all the best games and still out here enjoying it
After seeing this game I cant imagine how unstoppable the Miami Heat would've been if Melo actually decided to go there.
Terrifying tbh 😂
82-0 for sure 😅
He woulda fit better than bosh
Why y'all want stars to team up? That's not fun. People like seeing stars go at it. If you want to see them team up, watch Team USA Basketball.
@@elhajjmalikel6266 ok boomer
In my opinion this Nuggets team should have made it to the finals - at least just for the fun of it. It could have changed the legacy of many players - hell Melo could become invincible.
Christian Høj Beske We all know though that the NBA wouldn’t allow a Nuggets VS Magic NBA Finals. The ratings would have been shit.
@@Supermariohoops24 In the words of Shaq "I'm glad you said it"
Yeah this made him become "The Best Underachiever" for me. He's one of the greatest player I've ever seen but if NBA Championship should be counted as the main achievement then he really is an underachiever. No hate man, this guy is really great.
-sorry bad english
@@joshuadelacruz3907 First He was competing against the great Kobe Bryant along with Pau, Odom b4 the crack, Ariza, Fisher, and arguably one of the best coaches of all time. Excuse him for falling short. As 4 Lebron winning rings, pardon him for not creating his own Super Team, I guess Melo was one of the few that wanted to "earn" his title. For that he's called an underachiever, while Wade, Lebron, KG, Pierce, Allen, KD, and everyone else are overachievers because they joined forces. I just call them cheaters. Facts.
@@billygoatgruff840 not gonna argue with the last one lol hahahaha :D
This was one of my most favorite playoff series to watch game for game Kobe vs Melo 🔥🔥
Them uniforms look heavy😂
santanaoutlaw ikr
Nuggets woulda won if those unis were lighter. No lie
Man what.. Kobe uniform soggy than a mfer 😂
Myles Bankhead is rolling rn 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 swear he use to sweat the most 😂😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
On my kids lol like they got bags on lol
R.I.P Bean Bryant, he was a mad mann
Almost Every game in 2008-2013 playoffs were legendary
2 All Stars
3 good starters.
And 4 solid role players.
This is when the NBA was balanced, and at its best.
Lou York City spurs and Celtics had a big 3 , y’all don’t know y’all history ... it was basically lakers and spurs winning the Western conference every year .
Emmanuel Zanders
You talking about Boston's "big 3" that got beat by the Orlando Magic?
And the Spurs who got beat in the first round by the 6 seed Mavericks?
Lmao. I think YOU don't know your history.
Emmanuel Zanders
Boston's "Big 3" were old.
It wasn't like Miami's prime big 3, or Golden State's prime 5 All-Stars.
If you don't understand the difference, that's a personal issue.
Lou York City they weren’t OLD, pierce was 31, kg 32, and Allen was 33. they were still solid late prime players in 2008 when they beat the lakers. The spurs had a big 3 also and a great bench.
Lou York City Boston wasn’t that old and that same “old” Boston team almost went to the finals three straights probably would’ve won another one if it wasn’t for injury
I just like watching this. I'm a huge fan of Melo
Roro Cakes Me toooooooo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I’m 19 years old and all I have to say is this is peak basketball. The plays, the physicality, the toughness. Just wow…
Melo and kob used to go hard man
cannot believe this was 9 years ago
Times fly so quick
damn 09... thank jesus for muahh 2019
I was only 9 when this happened, thanks for reminding bruh
when Luke Walton was a Lakers player and Ariza havent go to the Rockets
Yea I was 13 shit brazy
After 11 years, Lakers-Nuggets back in the West Finals 🔥
after 2 years nuggets swept lakers
RIP BEAN 💜💛 we love you and miss you already man
i don't think Prime Melo couldn't stop the Black Mamba, but both Melo and Kobe really went at it, especially Melo
bruce lau
Kobe couldn't stop Melo either
I watch this because i wanna see prime melo, but after watch this video, i miss kobe😢
Same
Melo one of the greatest scorers.of all time.
Bruh I cannot believe this was 11 years ago, that is so crazy to me. Time really does fly by man!! And now Kobe is not here anymore, time is so precious. Crazy bruh... RIP Mamba...🙏✊🙏
Aiiight im back 😂😂😂 gettin this vibe all over again with this current lakers and denver CF 😊
Damn....Kobe my guy but hands down Melo was one of the toughest opponents in his prime
Amil Tensliy in his prime?
Amil Tensliy I think U mean in his Rookie years
Read carefully, he's talking about Kobe.
@@nyxsgaming4189 unfortunately everybody can't read
@El Comedy Rogue because I watched it...how else would I know
This when the NBA was LIT 😩😩😩🔥🔥
First time I ever saw Kobe lowkey irritated lol.. Him and Melo were right at eachother! LongLiveMamba
The Weakness of the Players now a days is Social Media.
thats why kawhi is so good he stays away from social media and is humble
Right
ask Lebron.
Lebron been in the league before the media era
@@jhyquaviousshavers8302 thank you for addressing that dumbass
Look at that Melo hustle 💪🔥
Wow, Carmelo 39 points on just 20 shots. Talk about efficent. I wonder why Denver didn't let him shoot more? Great game, loved to see Kobe vs. Carmelo guarding each other at the end of the game, super exciting excellent game, I always remember that Ariza steal at the end!
Because normally he wasn't scoring 39 on 20, he was scoring 39 on 35 shots lmao
I remember watching this game screaming at my tv screen..like Kobe c'mon man🤣🤣💔🙏 r.i.p man.
I remember watching this live. This is why Melo was my favorite player, the speed and the power. I never understood why he stopped posting because he was killing them.
Watching this makes you realize how soft the league got R.I.P Kobe
I miss this laker squad :(. They didn’t have any real big names on the team(other than Kobe of course), but they were a force to be reckoned with.
Dro _760 Gasol, Bynum, Odom?
What ??? Man they had a championship all star caliber team Odom,Fisher, Bynum Gasol and Phil Jackson coaching
All-star/ All-NBA Pau Gasol would like a word with you
10:48 - Take a moment to let this stat sink:
4th Quarter, 7:33 left on the clock
Anthony: 32 pts, 5 reb
Kobe: 25 pts, 5 reb
Denver lead by 87 - 82
End of Game
Anthony: 39 pts, 6 reb
Kobe: 40 pts, 6 reb
The disrespect Kobe gets is insane it's a reason we say he was as clutch as Jordan when it came to the critical moments of the game Kobe showed up he was an assassin
@@Heie_ he was not as clutch as Jordan lol
Melo's shot is the ideal form. That slow mo..is just art man
damnnn.. kobe's killer combo; great jump shot and acme footwork
Crazy to think he's gone...
Mad respect when Melo elbowed Kobe saying good game. ✊🏾

Thats what a beautiful day in LA looks like.
@@ImGayWhenISayThisBut hahaha
@Goatbe Bryant I live in the rocky mountains. I wouldn't call that boring. But your definition of excitement is watching homeless people legally shoot up heroin in the streets so what do I know.
Fuck LA
it's a big city....and what smog? .... you sound poor and gross
Melo still better dan 75% of these new NBA players.
lol, Melo is trash
yeah that year with those picks when melo, lebron, dwayne joined nba was the golden era for basketball at least for me because I was able to witness their careers and how they always dominate the games even when they were just a roockies but now since 2014+ I don't even know any players that could be the "team starts, dominate the games period".
@@lorenlloydpingal3140 trash don't score over 27,000 points...ijs neither you or I can guard TRASH MELO now...
@@thurmondcaldwell5482 right your comparing average people to 6ft 7 nba players 😂 lol your not wrong melo was a great scorer his problem was he had a diva mindset thinking he was lebron. Forced the trade to NY and drove their best pg in JLin out cause he wanted the glory. Melo sucks as a person that’s all it is
I miss old Melo. Unstoppable, best iso in the game. First time in my life I witness a superstar with great shooting left out of the league.
Thise were the mamba days... missing that kind of game
And in 2023 we get another Lakers-Nuggets WCF
I remember being on the edge of my seat watching this
This series kobe avg 34-6-6 49% shooting. How do we ignore kobe tough west playoff performances but only look at the finals #? Then turn around and praise lebron 8 straight finals in weak east? Praise lebron road in east but downgrade kobe runs in the west? I got it no objectivity just straight up hate for the legend kobe bean bryant it's sad .
Ballin Too he never shot over 50% from the field never averaged a triple double in the finals and he blew a 3-1 lead to the suns without Shaq he would have 2 rings
Ballin Too 3 finals mvps> 2
Vegeta The Goat reread what i said. You the definition of hate u not even listening to what I'm saying
Vegeta The Goat he doesnt need to avg a triple double because he plays defense. Lebron let k.d avg 30 on him 3 times. Old kobe 2012 didnt let kd Avg 30. Have stats play some defense get stops
Ballin Too Kobe can’t stop KD stfu dumbass
