Billiups is one of my favorite players of the ‘00s. A brilliant decision-maker with a high AST:TO ratio, a good defender and an excellent outside shooter. The fact that the Nuggets reached their all-time NBA pinnacle (not counting their heights in the ABA) can be largely attributed to the presence of Billups. The ‘80s all-offense-no-defense Nuggets never really scared the Lakers. The ‘90s all-defense-no-offense Nuggets never really scared anybody. The ‘10s Nuggets vacillated between terrible and mediocre, only getting out of the 1st rd. once in ‘19. The inexperienced-and-totally-gassed ‘20 Nuggets presented little challenge to the ‘20 Lakers in the WCFs.
This George Karl-Chauncey/Melo team in ‘09 was top 8 in offense and defense, and gave a defending-Conference-Champ, soon-to-be b2b champion Lakers team the best competition the Nuggets ever gave any team in the NBA Conference Finals.

People are quick to forget. Melo in his day was the most complete offensive talent the league likely has ever scene. It's funny to watch this highlight through and through. People say Kobe, Ariza, and Odom were good-to-great defensive players and rebounders for their size. Melo makes them, as a team, look subpar. Just a beast in the post and on the glass. Melo could taste the finals as he was almost there. If it weren't for the greatness of Bean, I'd really argue Melo would have gotten his first ring. #STAYME7O

yeah that year with those picks when melo, lebron, dwayne joined nba was the golden era for basketball at least for me because I was able to witness their careers and how they always dominate the games even when they were just a roockies but now since 2014+ I don't even know any players that could be the "team starts, dominate the games period".

@@thurmondcaldwell5482 right your comparing average people to 6ft 7 nba players 😂 lol your not wrong melo was a great scorer his problem was he had a diva mindset thinking he was lebron. Forced the trade to NY and drove their best pg in JLin out cause he wanted the glory. Melo sucks as a person that’s all it is

I miss old Melo. Unstoppable, best iso in the game. First time in my life I witness a superstar with great shooting left out of the league.

This series kobe avg 34-6-6 49% shooting. How do we ignore kobe tough west playoff performances but only look at the finals #? Then turn around and praise lebron 8 straight finals in weak east? Praise lebron road in east but downgrade kobe runs in the west? I got it no objectivity just straight up hate for the legend kobe bean bryant it's sad .

Ballin Too he never shot over 50% from the field never averaged a triple double in the finals and he blew a 3-1 lead to the suns without Shaq he would have 2 rings

Vegeta The Goat he doesnt need to avg a triple double because he plays defense. Lebron let k.d avg 30 on him 3 times. Old kobe 2012 didnt let kd Avg 30. Have stats play some defense get stops
