Thanks for playing, I almost forgot I made this lol. Long time ago and I could have done a lot better on telegraphing the elements and making the chamber, but still pretty happy with it
in terms of making the source engine cry we have been doing it since the days of probably hl1 but most certainly hl2 and above. I know of multiple old hl2 coop maps that had stuff like moving water blocks, moving ladders, barrels connected to act like a janky tightrope with physics enabled. all sorts of ways to abuse the airboat. an old favorite was a "fishing" map were you had what amounted to "functioning" fishing rods and you would procced to fish for stuff like doors, antlion guards, antlions, zombies, the occassional headcrap of any type. Also as a bonus involving the moving ladders if you spammed jump a certain way you could easily fly.
@@gamertypeawesome Even Source2 has code going all the way back to the freakin' Quake 1 engine. It's one big tower of duct tape! Also speaking of _making Source cry,_ I believe the Black Mesa devs had to outright modify the Source base code in order to raise engine limits they kept crashing into...
How? How. How! This reminds me of the now-removed DLC for Portal 2 that featured exactly that. I think this dlc was for the Kinect, if I remember right?

this is neat! reminds me of a joke video by Krzyhau where he had both portals movable and no portal gun whatsoever. You literally carry portals as props. Good playthrough. I wonder if the next iteration would be the entire chamber rotating/moving at command to move all the internal elements
That actually sounds like it would be a really cool mechanic to try out, i believe there is a map where you can carry some panels around, put them where you want and place portals on them, but to actually carry around a live portal would be fun. apologies for the extremely late reply, and thanks for watching
That mechanism turned out to be much more useful that I had originally guessed it would be, very cool! Love the ability to flip the light bridges around so they can reach different things.
Yeah the rotating bridge could definitely be useful for some interesting mechanics, the rotating gels was interesting too, i think if it was used with angled panels you could get more of a useful arc for aiming the gels. Apologies for the extremely late reply and as as always thank you :D

As much as I love this map's concept, it not too surprising there aren't others like it. It's generally easier to do stuff like this by having the entry portal on a floor, and rotating that using the normal portal gun. Still, it's really cool to see one of the Razer Hydra mechanics get ported to the base game. Allison Ghost did a really good job on it
I can see what you mean, i think being able to control the angle of the light bridge at the point you want it placed is probably more useful than being able to rotate the gels as they come out.
