Great video man. I'll definitely be switching to this stuff. I like the Duplicolor, but I think the Bondo is slightly better. But, as your video suggests, Bondo can be harder to find. By the sound and look of it, this stuff is almost as good as the Bondo with local availability. 🤘💀
Hey DWD, love the channel, such beautiful creations and my sincere thanks for sharing your skills with us all. A quick question on this filler, I can't find it on, even the UPOL website (US or UK) they do not show one that looks vaguely like it, does it have a part number or something that will help me order it directly from UPOL?
Your tips have helped my post process tremendously. Have you used alumaluster at all? If so please do a video. I’m working on a Mando build and would like your advice if possible
8:30 thanks for the breakdown of the steps. This is what a lot of people struggle with. They keep going back and forth wasting a lot of time. Myself included 😅
I have been doing professional paint and body work for about 20 years and was a bit skeptical about using Upol products but I’m becoming sold on their products every thing I have used from them has been very good and with good long term results.
Thank you for your helpful videos! I am using the Upol primer and liking it very much. Question that I have always been confused about: When you lay down your last filler primer coat and before painting, do you sand the item? if so what grit? In some of your videos it seems like the item is covered with a final coat of filler primer without touching it at all. But in doing so, the surface can have a minor texture to the touch vs being glass smooth. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
It depends on the finish your after. Often times I will just use a regular primer that lays smooth, obviously a filler primer can have grit. You can sand the primer but you don’t want it too smooth bc you need something for the paint to grab to. A wetsand of 800 is all you need if you feel texture. Typically though I wetsand the clear coat at the end to get the best gloss & finish
Thank you for this advice. I am going to try to lay down a regular primer that is smooth as you suggested (I've seen you do this in your videos). Is there a smooth primer brand / model you recommend?@@Darkwingdad
Bondo filler primer isn't available at every single store I've checked in the Detroit area. It's always sold out. I'll be looking for some of this stuff next time I need some.
It’s a very solid if not better option, bondo does dry faster but this I feel fills a bit better. Only problem is it doesn’t like being put on heavy. It creates little craters that have to be sanded out. Bondo Ive caked on in past tests & it’s just bullet proof. I’m confident in saying I would use either upol or bondo, even duplicolor isn’t even close to how fast & effective this upol dries & performs.
Filler primer will contain some sort of filling agent like talc, poly-resin additive or even acrylic. Sandable primer is just a matte primer that’s supposed to dry quickly & sands effortlessly
@@ANewKindOfFearCustoms it’s almost identical, might even fill a tad better. Bondo dries a bit faster but either one you use are light years better than rustoleum & way out perform duplicolor
Filler primer goes down thick to fill in minor imperfections. Normal primer is more of a thin formula that is mostly just a good base for paint to stick to. I always use filler primer though. Doesn't make you lose fine details if you don't cake it on.
I know your a featherfill guy but for smaller projects this will help. I absolutely hate the clean up using slick sand. I used it on a few armor pieces & haven’t touched it. The price increase has turned me away from it too unfortunately . Upol 1k putty & this primer is a great 1-2 punch
I honestly couldn’t see many of the products used in garages or body shops. I think these are formulated for diyers who are doing mirrors, fenders & little projects.
You deserve WAY more subscribers! Always very informative and entertaining. Can’t wait to see the war machine build!
Thanks man, I get it alot, all I can do is keep pumping out content & hope it gets shared & spreads!
Would love to see the stats on how many people buy these products for their cars vs making Mando armor.😆 Keep up the great work!
Lol I guarantee it’s a 20:1 ratio minimum lol
The chickens made me instantly love this guy even more! 😂
Lol I have a mini farm I can’t help it
Still haven't had a chance to use mine but great video, looking forward to using it even more now!
You’ll love it, thanks for the tip!

Hell yea, i been using up the rest of my rust oleum and want to try a new one. 10 bucks and it instock at my local autozone. Thanks for the review!
It’s a great option that I think will become many peoples go to
@Darkwing dad I bought 5 cans of R-O during "The Great Primer Filler Shortage of 22" 😆 And I'm just about out so it was perfect timing
@@jaredbourque4199 I think I would have rather chewed on glass that used Crustoleum, bless your heart for trying lol
I've been using Motip Spray Putty as a first coat, but I'll definitely try this product out. Thanks again for your efforts!
Thanks for watching!
So many options! I haven't gotten around to getting the first coats of bondo filler primer on my mando bucket.
It’s good stuff. Can’t go wrong with it, just showing options

Yes, are you in the us or uk?
I can buy from both, UK is probably a bit easier.
Oh very rude of me, thank you sir.

Thanks, nothing on alumaluster yet, but soon, I’m gonna do my war machine suit with some

Found this luckily they have this near me I love pbe but I have to order thru Amazon which is bummer when I just need it quick.

Great info once again 👍. Still hoping for that mf doom mask print setup 🤞
Been delayed, should be up Sunday!

Can confirm. I’m in Detroit area as well. This is promising.
I'm in Va and ordered 12 cans last year, took over 7 months to get lol

After the last wet sand, do you spray more filler primer or go straight to the base coat if you want a mirror smooth finish?
I don’t wetsand primers, it’s not necessary, I’ll go to 600/800 and do a final coat of primer(non filler or light coat)
I bought first can 2 weeks ago. Ran out and bought 5 more cans the next week!
Lol nice!
Have you tried cabinet scrapers? If not you should try it :)
Tried it, didn’t like it. I’d not compatible with all models. Leaves gouges that you still have to putty & fill. Not a method I like at all.
What's the difference between filler primer and sandable primer?
Filler primer will contain some sort of filling agent like talc, poly-resin additive or even acrylic. Sandable primer is just a matte primer that’s supposed to dry quickly & sands effortlessly
@@Darkwingdad Thanks! I'm so glad this Upol Filler is good. I was just at AutoZone yesterday and saw it and wondered if it was as good as Bondo.

The new spray tip is absolutely trash. Horrible coverage when spraying real automotive parts or vehicles.
